I think it's one of those stories that can't be explained with a quick/hot take. Did China fund the outlet? Were they spreading propaganda? However, even if the latter is true, that doesn't mean the journalists there aren't honestly going about their work -- and deserved to have their lives upended. Believe it or not, there are legit journalists working for not-so-great outlets (eg, Murdoch-owned properties).

Having watched Drag Race from episode one, there have been times where I felt that the show was exploiting some of humanity’s most vulnerable and attention seeking individuals. But ultimately the show is a celebration of queer nightlife culture. Maybe hundreds of performers at this point have been highlighted on an international stage with humor, glamour, love, and hilarious editing.

"The RAP on Frederick Douglass"
[extended ..became a one person theatre piece] :
They love Black music but they hate Black people.

They love this rhythm

They love this rhyme

But when it comes to the struggle they don't have the time

They love Michael Jackson on MTV

They love Eddie Murphy and Mr. T.

They love Bill Cosby and Bob Marley

And some say to me ''I love Spike Lee''

But they don't give a damn if we are free

They don't know a thing about our History

This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care.
