I think because (a) people were not afraid to be open about their influences, and (b) there were just so many bands that were competing for hits, top-billing at festivals and so on - pushed everyone’s standards higher.

Oasis had cancelled this date when the Gallaghers had a falling out. They then released Wonderwall and became the biggest band in Britain. Even though they could now sell out stadiums they honoured the cancelled date. OCS would have a massive hit with this not long after.

	3:30pm Leigh Gregory: I was at Vinyl Junkies Records in San Diego about 5 weeks back and on the back patio they said boxes of cut rate CDs (it's really a vinyl store) with tons of Brit Pop CDs - all the stuff I used to have on tape. Loved finding and listening to Giant Steps again - what a GREAT record!!!

It looks great He reads angry letters to the music magazines with people complaining how unattractive the band was. He's seem very self deprecating and funny.

Me and my friend would listen with our parents, moving from Oasis and Supergrass to the Stones and Kinks. Uniquely cross-generational music.

Loved finding and listening to Giant Steps again - what a GREAT record!!!
