I saw em in big screen theatre! Simultaneously very visually beautiful and torturously visceral!
- worthwhile to see on the largest screen possible.
- (8 years old huh 🤔?!),…
I “mistakenly” was taken to a 1973 theatrical screening of original Walking Tall (among other hard R-rated films) at 8 or so, definitely made strong indelible impressions on me. No judgment!, because i cherish my crazy youthful cinema memories. But when I got older, I realized some of that exposure had an effect on me. Positive or negative? - hard to clearly conclude.

the worst spielberg is war of the worlds where the entire city of boston is decimated except for grandma's house where tom cruise and his daughter meet up with his son who made it up to boston on his own and grandma and grandpa who somehow survived in there house which has not suffered any damage. saw that with a friend who was dying of cancer and i was so pissed at the failure of spielberg to be honest in his storytelling.

Indeed - “close encounters” is in my top 3 Spielberg. He’s long since become a bit of an “eyeroll🙄 Director” (imo, such torturous use of soundtrack music in his films!).
I understand it’s not most folks’ cuppa, but I’m also partial to “The Terminal” 2004 - (interminably enjoyable)😉.
Partial to “the sugarland express” 1974 & his version of “war of the worlds” 2005.
