That period in the mid-70s when jazz musicians were expanding their horizons. Mahavishnu Orchestra, Return to Forever, Jean-Luc Ponty, electrified Herbie Hancock, whatever Miles was doing, etc.

While there, she was allowed to travel over to Long Beach State University and take music classes. Her prison term culminated in a giant all-star concert at the prison that was broadcast live on KBCA, eminent jazz critic Leonard Feather presiding over the event. Flora and her husband, the brilliant percussionist, Airto Moreira, were original members of Chick Corea's Return to Forever. Remember the "Light As a Feather" album?
