A different show every week! Rotating DJs include Jon Nelson's "Sheena 'ssembly Required" (Tape Manipulations, Digital Deconstructions and Turntable Creations),
MarkTime (vintage radio airchecks), and Krys O (aka Sister Krys - WFMU alumna 1985-1991, longtime Church of the Subgenius monk. Playing cinematic ephemera, schizoid weirdos, all styles served here). Plus: surprise guests galore. (illustration courtesy of https://www.jimflora.com/)

that spectacular Space-Age building in the top pic, LAX's Theme Building, is where we held our wedding reception.

Alas, it's now closed to the public. No one goes to the airport to hang out and be cool anymore, as airports are now instruments of torture.

Glad you like. I'm still trying to find some Chicago easy listening from that era. A couple stations were owned by supermarkets to feed them background music
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
Austin Rich:

It's probably my own particular age / availability heuristic, but I find radio older than 1985 to be really fascinating, probably because I never heard anything before then. (Except via airchecks, and these days, downloads.) While it's not all super great, I find the way radio was done prior to 1985 to be really interesting. It sounds like another universe, sometimes.

I used to make tapes, and cut myself into the tape, in place of the DJ. I wish those had survived into the modern era... I think I taped over them in my 20s, sadly.

I should probably do that "Pro Syndicated DJ" thing when I talk about Sheena Time, where I only talk about the minutes past the hour, so you can still air the show in any timezone, and the listener just fills in the hour in their head.

I was trying to tell my co-worker today about the history of Yiddish theater. Silly me. She did ask me about Yiddish culture though. She only cares about reality TV shows. This co-worker once said that she would never watch a black and white film nor would she find any pleasure in going to a museum. After this comment, I told her about a delightful visit I had to the Museum of Modern Art to see a series of Lillian Gish movies with live piano accompaniment.
