"One of the rarest Canadian private press records ever made at 100 copies, with five stars in Pokora and little information in Acid Archives.

Recorded at a home in Etobicoke, Ontario, this three man formation used a reel to reel to create this sole album only meant for friends and people who attended the few shows they performed. Not the best pressing, but we were lucky to get the tape to allow us to improve on the original pressing slightly. Recorded in their home, this folk rock album has good song writing and has a nice charm. All original material with no cover songs & Canadian based lyrics like Nova Scotia Morning (although the entire band was from Ontario), this is an album you won’t find anytime soon, if ever."

Wow, what a set! Had to take a moment to write, in between profusely sweating playing frisbee with the kid in the park and hanging laundry on the roof.

Listening from the 10am hour and it was like a trip back to the early 70’s. All Guinevere/Venture Highway/Court and Spark-esque tunes.

Enjoying thoroughly. Perfect for the day: relaxing, wistful, etc without the pressures of attending or hosting the obligatory bbq. Just hanging, going slow, enjoying the natural world (even the thunderstorms, when they appear).
May make it out to the International African Arts Festival in Bklyn again today.
But that’s as much as I wanna be involved on this holiday weekend.

Always been a sucker for the self-pitying Depresso stuff.
Something about me against the world resonates with people, especially when younger and perhaps more disillusioned with the findings.

Have to say though, in general, the 70’s “broken dreams” stuff has a lament that reflects more of a collective experience, like that of being crestfallen about the realization that the Hippie Dream has been crushed and/or commodified to such a degree to bring about disillusionment.

Which seems completely different than, for instance, the sappy pap of 80’s pop, which was all about the self, individualism and becoming “famous” just to be famous.

Maybe it’s just my (our) way of seeing the generational difference. But the 70’s lament seems more collective in nature. Like HST writing… www.goodreads.com...
