Sequences of sounds is a good idea for a radio show. I remember that time Doug played all the sounds simultaneously. It was interesting... but not fully successful (IMHO).

From an article on Jan. 6 defendants:
"For years, the D.C. jail has been notorious for unsanitary, substandard and, in the words of D.C.'s attorney general, 'squalid' conditions."

Our penal system, in centuries to come, will be viewed with shame and disbelief.

Still b/p, The Lenny and Squiggy characters were first introduced on KMET when Harry Shear and Albert Brooks did an alternate broadcast of The Rose Parade. Lenny and Squiggy were making disparaging comments about the floats. Low brow is their meat and potatos.

Without question.

The pianist here, Hampton Hawes, spent time in prison for drugs, too. He was released after receiving a pardon from the president at the time, John F. Kennedy.

I recall a coworker years ago saying that whenever bond issues for prison improvements or expansions were on the ballot, he'd vote no. His reasoning was all about "screw those cons...don't want to do anything that's positive for them; they deserve whatever they've got. Not going to have more of my taxes help them."
The dead-end nature of that thinking or, in fact, creation of various problems from such attitudes, escaped him.

Jeff, a couple of years ago I was upstairs at a friend record shop. He had a pile of Hampton Hawes albums sitting on the floor. I asked my friend how he scored so many at one time. I read a fanciful piece recently that recommended we nationalize baseball, in order to save it, and while this is goofy, I do hate the owners enough to generally support the idea. I mean, most owners don't seem to care about the "product on the field" terribly much, anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am
Doug Schulkind:

@Jeff Golick
And their owners are richer than God. When they decide to sell, the teams will bring them a massive windfall. And yet, they treat the team like a business that must turn an annual profit. They are vile scum. Not Rikers Island correctional officer sadistic violence-level vile scum, mind you. But still awful.
