	🥁 ♥ 10:49pm doctorjazz: Nat Hentoff was an interesting writer. He wrote tons about jazz, and was excellent. If I remember correctly, he also wrote about politics quite a bit (read him often in the Village Voice). He had a particularly interest in the 1st amendment, and later in his writing, he became something of an anomaly; a left-liberal writer who was also anti abortion. It was interesting to read him-didn't make me pro-life, but gave me some sympathy to the idea that to some it was a heart felt position (unfortunately, the other side doesn't seem to be able to muster the same empathy).

For years CD's have been treated like the soccer mommy of music delivery systems by people who should know better. They do their work beautifully and efficiently. I have yet to find a turntable I want to install in my truck.

	♥ 11:31pm Franco Twinkie: Coel, in the hazy past that was the late '80's, I took a pile of LP's to a Christmas party. This annoying self-styled intellectual who would sit on his front porch reading and smoking all day while his wife was at work, told me in the most condescending voice he could muster that NO ONE played records anymore. CD's had made them completely obsolete. I patiently explained to him how many deserving pieces of music would never make it to CD.(boy was I wrong!) Of course the near extinction of CD's is a market consideration that has nothing to do the quality concerns of audiophiles or disgruntled vinyl collectors. I like them both, and like Doc's friend, need a room addition to store them in - happily side by side.

	🥁 ♥ 10:49pm doctorjazz: Nat Hentoff was an interesting writer. He wrote tons about jazz, and was excellent. If I remember correctly, he also wrote about politics quite a bit (read him often in the Village Voice). He had a particularly interest in the 1st amendment, and later in his writing, he became something of an anomaly; a left-liberal writer who was also anti abortion. It was interesting to read him-didn't make me pro-life, but gave me some sympathy to the idea that to some it was a heart felt position (unfortunately, the other side doesn't seem to be able to muster the same empathy).

For years CD's have been treated like the soccer mommy of music delivery systems by people who should know better. They do their work beautifully and efficiently. I have yet to find a turntable I want to install in my truck.

	♥ 11:31pm Franco Twinkie: Coel, in the hazy past that was the late '80's, I took a pile of LP's to a Christmas party. This annoying self-styled intellectual who would sit on his front porch reading and smoking all day while his wife was at work, told me in the most condescending voice he could muster that NO ONE played records anymore. CD's had made them completely obsolete. I patiently explained to him how many deserving pieces of music would never make it to CD.(boy was I wrong!) Of course the near extinction of CD's is a market consideration that has nothing to do the quality concerns of audiophiles or disgruntled vinyl collectors. I like them both, and like Doc's friend, need a room addition to store them in - happily side by side.
