Hello Sam and fellow drummer streamers.

Sam, you can't even safely say that was the first time you said 2022 on WFMU, Would have to listen to last few programs of 2021 again to hear if you referenced it as the future. But you can say it was first time to say 2022 on WFMU in 2022. Maybe.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
zzz:

hey DJ SS and everyone, good evening!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Sam Segal:

I surely did reference 2022 in one of my recent programs, WR. Suggesting that was the first time I said, "2022," out loud was a preposterous claim. And yet...it felt emotionally true in the moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm

ZZZ! Good to have you.

great track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
Sam Segal:

I hadn't listened to Radiohead in a long time. It was fun to revisit this album. I remember when they self-released it as "pay what you want" when that was a totally new thing to do.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:54pm
zzz:

coel i agree. not very familiar with a lot of radiohead but this is really great l. love the guitar
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
doctorjazz:

Have show playing on my radio-Spouse asked me,. "are you playing a video game?".
Do like the tracks...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
doctorjazz:

I downloaded the pay as you want version... Have to say, always WANTED to like Radiohead, never grabbed me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm
Sam Segal:

I am honestly in the same boat with Radiohead, in general. I have a few songs of theirs that I really like, but I've never connected to them the way a lot of critics seem to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
Sam Segal:

The video game for this dub-techno portion of the set we're in would be interesting to play.

The Doors were my original favorite band as a youngster.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
coelacanth∅:

been reviewing all my records to grade them, a week ago (about) i played la woman TWICE! -2 records. i often play just a bit of the record to judge the grade, but i listened to these start to finish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
Sam Segal:

The title track on "LA Woman" never fails to rev me the hell up.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:22pm
coelacanth∅:

hmmm, i may have skipped the title track the first one!
(but i played it, and loved it the 2nd copy)
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
coelacanth∅:

i think a fantastic unsung song from that album is the changeling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Sam Segal:

LOVE the changeling!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:25pm
coelacanth∅:

no matter how overplayed it was i never hated riders on the storm. (got damn sick of la woman though!)
  11:26pm

The Doors stupid? Nah.
  11:27pm
rw:

You're welcome.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
coelacanth∅:

the doors certainly are not more polarizing than radiohead.
...Morrison was a clown, but as a band, all 4 together, they were groundbreaking. bands today have them to Thank as much as they do the beatles or the stooges or v.u.
  11:28pm
rw:

Good evening!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
coelacanth∅:

hey rw!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:29pm
WR:

Yeah, there was time when Morrison as oaf was ascendant. Even for me. Was huge fan for their first three albums. Too bad for me I declined to go with friends to see them near the end.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:31pm
coelacanth∅:

i think they had 2 mostly crap albums in there, then reemerged as Brilliant with la woman.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
doctorjazz:

Yup, there was a backlash against the Doors for a while, can't imagine why...

When I was back there in seminary school
There was a person there
Who put forth the proposition
That you can petition the Lord with prayer
Petition the lord with prayer
Petition the lord with prayer
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm

(relistened to every album within the past 2 weeks)
  11:33pm
rw:

Howdy coelacanth!

I saw Ray Manzarek in an art museum once. He made the stupid joke where you look at the thermostat and comment on it as if it were a work of art. But I work in the art world and make that kind of stupid joke all the time, so it's cool. It was just a little unsettling (but ultimately reassuring) to realize that a member of the Doors was human just like the rest of us.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33pm

This Tarlron is great-don't know his name...

Thanks, Coel, I needed that!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:37pm
doctorjazz:

Cline and Sharp-very cool (big Cline fan)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm
Sam Segal:

I saw the "Doors of the 21st Century," which featured Ray and Robby Krieger, but no John Densmore. The part of Jim was played by Ian Astbury from the Cult. I was in 6th grade, I think? The show couldn't have been good, but I absolutely loved it.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
doctorjazz:

Long way from Tarlton
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
Sam Segal:

Believe it or not, I think this is a loose cover of the song "Dot Dash" by Wire.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
chresti:

I liked LA Woman back then. Maybe not as much now.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:39pm
WR:

I think spodiodi did a funny rif on YOU CANNOT PETITION THE LORD WITH PRAYER in the comments somewhere recently.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:39pm

Don't know the original, bit I suspect it wouldn't have helped.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:40pm

He did, WR, but I can't recall the specifics not either.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:40pm

I had the Strange Days album.
  11:41pm

docjazz, it's a good one. But yes. I hear no resemblance. Yet anyway.
  11:41pm
rw:

Tom Dash's show is also named after that song.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:41pm
coelacanth∅:

in high school my friends would come to my house at least one night each weekend. my mother would sit on the sofa at the other end of the apartment -drinking, and fuming -and refusing to go to bed until it was all over...keeping an eye on the comings, goings, and bathroom excursions...
i had a 6-pack on a rope going out the window 2 stories so she never saw all the beer coming in. she hated my music (except the beatles) and i couldn't push the levels too much, but when Morrison went into the seminary school bit one time i turned it up full volume! my friends were histerical, and very frightened!
  11:42pm
rw:

Haha! Nice story.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:43pm

I was wondering about the dot dash connection, rw.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:44pm

Have to check that song out, maybe YouTube
  11:45pm
rw:

chresti, now that I said it I'm second guessing myself, but I'm pretty certain he said that.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:45pm

Maybe he's just devoted to Morse Code...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:46pm

Well his last name is Dash after all...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:47pm

Ehrlich did a nice spot on Music for a Free World.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:49pm

Maybe they named the song in Tom Dash's honor.
