A sonic collage both unpredictable and fluid. Think cosmic synth, heavy acid rock psych, international pop, and the latest in experimental bedroom projects.
Mariano - you'd think it would be alot better than it is. But this is down out club so it'll be decent. I still hanker after a good British curry. I think people area afriad of spice here. To be honest, even in India they were afraid to give us spicy curry... Unlike Sri Lanka where a nearly died haha
Speaking of Ozzie $$, I imagine $2 steak night on Monday nights is a thing of the past now, Scott67?
Interesting about the spiciness there, Paulo. I'd have thought stuff there would have a nice kick to it. Sounds a bit like Cuba: you'd think that the country that produces some of the world's hottest peppers would have spicy cuisine, but nope, it's famous in Latin America for not being spicy.
The locals here cannot handle spicy food, it's all very sweet. But you would think with the massive Indian ex pat populations the curry's would be better
guess there's the Curry , the daring curry the neighbors , the ones we often take away, and the ones with grew up with kind of sums it up I guess lolz !<>!
nuffin' lke a good deady hot spicy meal and some good ice cream Gellato if a good one's available and then for me anyone sleep comes and goes pretty well !<>!
Half of my employees are Indians and their recommendations have been terrible, has a fish soup once.
But your thinking of Saudi, but there are compounds here for the low level workers
One of my cousins from the Cuban branch of my family married an Indian-American guy. At the wedding reception, all the old Cubans were complaining that the catered Indian food was too spicy. On the other hand, they could all dance like they were still in their 20s.
Speaking of calmatives, my grandmother got me into chamomile tea. Now that's relaxing. Valerian too.
Valerian root , maybe Bri? as a tea even better but not too strong helped me one time , not a good taste though but then again can always mask it with some like honey or something ,, once summer rolls get going and heat and humidy creep it I am Lucky to get like 4 hours sleep myself (
Thorne Research 5-Hydroxytryptophan - www.amazon.com...
Thorne is the company that the UFC performance institute's nutritionists use. Highest purity and absorption on the market.
...i forgot -niacinamide.
niacinamide (as well as b-6, but it's easy to have enough b-6 from your diet) is necessary for body to convert tryptophan into seratonin.
i used 5-hydroxytryptophan for a while in the 90s, when my insomnia was much worse. it helped a little. straight up tryptophan worked much better...though some say it's rough on the liver
(or was it kidney)
@Mike W I do. Tried melatonin and it had the opposite effect. It made me restless. 5-Hydro eases the anxiety enough to help me slow my mind down making it easier to fall asleep. I also stay asleep a bit longer which is essential for physical recovery.
*I am just stating my personal experience. I am not a medical professional
@coel Better than the side effects of the other stuff. Ambien apparently makes people sleepwalk and do weird stuff like rearrange furniture and cook meals. I have a balcony now, not trying to sleepwalk onto the pavement haha
i also sometimes put a few drops of lavender essential oil on my pillow...and play droney-motory music all night (Daniel Menche and others) usually at very low volume
Hyper D my sister gave me some of those and the first time it worked beautifully (i don't know if i walked in my sleep) then it never helped after that
I taught myself to sleep by listening to a detuned radio white noise. & allowed all my troubling thoughts, worries & fears to speak at once in my mind. Then let it all merge as white noise, which eventually I could not hear any longer. I would be asleep without knowing it.
✌😊
ngh tryptophan probably (literally) saved my life, 3+ decades ago. it broke the cycle of not getting enough sleep making my asthma worse>drugs used for asthma keeping me from sleeping.
one night, cycle broken, asthma gradually got better.
@Paulo Right? I like pancakes...not trying to be one!
@coel There is also the dependancy and potential abuse risks if those strong pills aren't in CR (controlled release) form
Don't know about all these herbs and chemicals. But my anti-anxiety strategy consists of: (1) aggressive maintenance of sleep hygiene (2) regular exercise (in my case yoga) (3) eating right always always (4) philosophical training ("therapy" if you will) to counteract the various toxic ideologies (consumerism, meritocracy, etc) that are designed to make us miserable and passive; and - very important - (5) dialing alcohol way, way down (that's how alcohol works, basically: by creating and magnifying the anxieties it supposedly relieves you from for a small part of the day). Oh and ditching social media (many years ago) in favor of the far more intrinsic creative and social offerings provided by the mighty fortress that is our FMU (and live music out in the wilds, otherwise)
@coel: When I could afford medication for my psioroasis, it had steroids and other synthetic hormones, and it kept me from sleeping. The cure is as bad as the affliction.
@choggie: Maybe I should try something harder more harder?
crappy beer. Two before bed.

update: I spotted the bug that was crawling around and had to hit it with a shoe instead of picking it up with a paper towel. Kudos to the cat on alerting me to what was moving around although I think the flashlight confused him a little

choggie:
2 hrs before dinner.....Oh, did I mention dinner just before bed and after drinking? And only then after a bit of chocolate
@Paulo: not on purpose. I have so many dietary issues, but I refuse to take dairy and sugar out of my diet, that if I ear breakfast or lunch, it could keep me 45 mins on the can, and make me late for work (when I had work). So, over the years, I just acclimated,,, (also, my body doesn't like certain preservative from processed foods, and, I mostly just have fast foods as my options where I'm at.
Yer so hi on the grooves and DJ stardom is what I meant ya, in-studio groover you!!! I'm hi on yer grooves crossin' all 5 oceans and assorted seas.,.
2:23am
choggie:
I'll chime in on that one Paolo, if I had to eliminate dairy and sugar from my diet I may as well jump off a building and end it all...same goes.for onions,.tomato, garlic and basil....
It was switchblade symphony, song called gutter glitter
2:40am
BH:
I really should try to not drink more soft drinks after a certain point at night but I was a little more strict with that in college than I am these days. I really haven't done much coffee though, tbh
