How to become the Sensuous
Woman J / "The Way to Become the Sensuous Woman"
(Atlantic)

"J," aka "Connie Z," purrs and pants her way through probably the highest-profile sex record of the '70s--it was produced by Marty Thau for a huge major label, before he started his Red Star label (home to Suicide and Richard Hell). Again, this takes on the connotations of being an "educational" record (as did the book it was based on), but quickly drops down to become a groan-fest before the middle of side one. "J" is a bit more concerned with pleasing the guy than herself (hmmm, who wrote this script?), and covers topics like etiquette at orgies, which certainly were as common as dinner parties in the '70s. One can only imagine the Atlantic Records release party for this: Ray Charles, Bette Midler, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Jimmy Page, Ruth Brown, all going at it on the floor like bunnies.
