Good afternoon good buddies, in WFMU land.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm chresti:

Hi BC and company!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Loggers!
  2:01pm P-90:

“Jello by Afra”?
Avatar 2:02pm BC Sterrett:

Yes :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Rich in Washington:

Buzz Martin recorded his classic LPs and had them released on the label based in my hometown of Vancouver Washington. Ripcord Records still exists as a working studio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm WR:

Buzz Martin, wow.
Avatar 2:05pm BC Sterrett:

Someone was telling my about a guy who bought Ripcord and was trying to sell the Buzz master tapes for $50,000
Avatar 2:07pm Lumber Lady:

Now, that's my type of man.
Avatar 2:09pm Sem:

Hello, BCS, and LMA enthusiasts.
Avatar 2:11pm BC Sterrett:

LOL Lumber Lady!
Avatar 2:11pm BC Sterrett:

Welcome Sem, WR, Rich, Otis and Chresti :)
Avatar 2:16pm BC Sterrett:

I was trying to find the song about the depressed logger who lets a tree fall on him, but I think that it's on the one album I don't have, isn't going to arrive till Monday. Perhaps I'll include it next week...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Otis Fodder:

Loggers will log. Keeping a log here of the logs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Otis Fodder:

That was all the buzz. Won't log out though, still here with my Lincoln Logs and Cracker Barrel Pecan Logs.
Avatar 2:25pm Lumber Lady:

I love how they not shy away from the real words! SUFFER TIME!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Rich in Washington:

ow wow. This is delightfully dreadful!
Avatar 2:26pm Lumber Lady:

Here, child, a bowl of sadness with a dash of despair, that's all you get for dinner! No, I didn't say supper time, I said suffer time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Rich in Washington:

little children's voices + bad music = heaven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm ARB:

Turned that Mommy song up to max volume
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Otis Fodder:

Feeling feelings I have locked within, for so, very long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Rich in Washington:

not that that Dottie song in and of itself was bad but the inclusion of that tot's singing was ill-advisedly wondrous.
Avatar 2:29pm BC Sterrett:

I think I first heard this Ferlin song on Friendly Persuasion in the 90's
Avatar 2:30pm Sem:

It's Ferlin, and I feel bad right away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Otis Fodder:

Oh yes, love this Ferlin number.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Rich in Washington:

I think I have this one one of those Twisted Tales compilations - the one entirely dedicated to car death songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Otis Fodder:

Also love the Dottie West LP title, "Suffer Time".

Yes, Dottie. It truly is, THAT time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Otis Fodder:

Those Twisted Tales comps are fantastic. 4 of em on vinyl!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Otis Fodder:

Lumber Lady... here comes your man!
Avatar 2:33pm StringOFperils:

There Woks A Man. It's a cookbook!! Don't get on that ship!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Otis Fodder:

Ha SOP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Otis Fodder:

Stompin' Tom with a Montreal mention included, nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm ARB:

Oh Stompin' Tom he's got a tiny little corner in my heart
Avatar 2:42pm BC Sterrett:

Time for Canadian country :)
Avatar 2:43pm zivilars:

Hello again
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Otis Fodder:

One of the questions when you cross the border to Canada alongside cigs, fireworks and cash... name one Stompin' Tom song or turn around!
Avatar 2:43pm BC Sterrett:

Hey There Zivilars!
Avatar 2:44pm BC Sterrett:

Ha, that's great Otis. I love Canada. Each time I've been there has been really nice.
Avatar 2:45pm StringOFairbrakes:

Music for sleeping at the Salvation Army Hostel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm ARB:

Getting that cookbook for my dad SOp, alongside Microwaving with Mark
Avatar 2:47pm StringOFairbrakes:

Hah!
Avatar 2:48pm zivilars:

@BC Sterrett: When announcing "lots of Heino" today – are we talking about German Heino?!
Avatar 2:49pm BC Sterrett:

Laughing at Strings comment. Yes Ziv :)
Avatar 2:50pm zivilars:

holy shit ... looking forward to "Komm in meinen Wigwam" and other Heino hits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Rich in Washington:

I just found another Heino record in the wild last weekend so I redid my Wall Of Heino in my studio and my wife was horrified.
Avatar 2:56pm Sem:

Love Stompin' Tom. Local hero here.
  2:56pm Andres:

Hello! When I tuned in at the start of the show I was thinking Buzz Martin was a kindred spirit of Stomping Tom. Left to do some chores and came back to find I missed the transition. Dang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Did Stompin' Tom do that 'To It and At It/Toronto' song?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Phooey! My coffee's all gone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Rich in Washington:

I remember Doug and Bob playing this record on their radio promo record played on lots of FM stations back in the day.
Avatar 2:59pm Sem:

RiW:genius.com...
Avatar 3:02pm Sem:

No doubt, the Chinooks blow, and plenty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm chresti:

Hi Sem!
Avatar 3:09pm Franco Twinkie:

And here I always thought this song was by Alice Cooper.
Avatar 3:10pm Sem:

Hello, chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm chresti:

I wonder if Scott'67 and Aitch know Slim Dusty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Rich in Washington:

I've never heard the actual version of Sun Arise, only being familiar with Alice Cooper's cover of it.
Avatar 3:13pm StringOFairbrakes:

oh oh....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Otis Fodder:

Playing Rolf Harris will do that. The stream is protesting.
Avatar 3:16pm zivilars:

Heino!
Avatar 3:16pm StringOFairbrakes:

That's what happens when you don't feed the volcano on time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Rich in Washington:

HEINO!
The album I just found has this on it - a compilation Seine Grossen Erfolge 3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Rich in Washington:

Heino is marked safe from Operation Yew Tree.
Avatar 3:18pm zivilars:

I got an autograph from Heino when I was about nine years old
Avatar 3:18pm zivilars:

unfortunately not in my possession anymore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Rich in Washington:

I love that Heino waited until he retired to finally cover Kraftwerk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Rich in Washington:

my Coco walked into my studio last weekend as I was changing out my 'wall of records' to Heino, asked why I was putting 'that guy' up again and then heard the Heino record I was playing and slowly backed out of the room going 'oh my god'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm Rich in Washington:

zivilars, at least you had that moment!
Avatar 3:25pm BC Sterrett:

HOw is the audio. weird stuff going on here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Rich in Washington:

I think it was notSOKWYET who shared that there is a full time Heino impersonator in Toronto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Rich in Washington:

I notice it's going up and down and is currently skewed a bit to the left channel.
Avatar 3:26pm StringOFairbrakes:

There was a moment of channel panning and volume increase, but other than that....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Rich in Washington:

overall level good right now just skewed left a bit.
Avatar 3:27pm zivilars:

this is my Heino favourite
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Otis Fodder:

Heino's sheer vocal power will keep the stream up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Rich in Washington:

can someone verify? I am seeing a left bias on one mixer channel but right on another (I have stream coming from two sources on different faders on my system for reasons too stupid to explain here). I think I have one mix channel reversed.
Avatar 3:28pm zivilars:

@Rich: There was a punk guy in Germany in the 80s who called himself "The real Heino" with blond wig and glasses - he was successfully sued by Heino
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Otis Fodder:

Confirmed. Left channel 80%... Right at about 10%... Heino takes the other 10% for his tribute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Rich in Washington:

Yeah, and they packed to courtroom with Heinos! I think it's in the Heino documentary Made In Germany(?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Rich in Washington:

yeah, just verified my channels. It's SLIGHTLY skewed left but otherwise fine. Don't do anything if it's precarious. Been there.
Avatar 3:30pm zivilars:

@Rich: yeah, exactly! Don't know the docu though ... sounds good, I'll have to check it out
Avatar 3:31pm BC Sterrett:

Ok, THanks@
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Rich in Washington:

ah goddamn it. I keep reaching for a cup of coffee but it's been gone for the better part of an hour. Phantom coffee syndrome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Otis Fodder:

Heino balanced the channels now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Rich in Washington:

I think Jello talks about the Heino lawsuit in the book but I can't recall exactly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Otis Fodder:

Does anybody have the Heino popup holiday cover? Had it a few years ago, funny.
Avatar 3:35pm Franco Twinkie:

This is properly demented.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Otis Fodder:

An All-Heino-Aloha-Friday could work. You are lost at sea. You find land. A small patch of sand in the sea. The only other living soul is Heino and he has a solar-powered-boombox and a bag of cassettes. Welcome to the first day of the rest of your life.
Avatar 3:37pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Heino is not all that fun, you know. He has a darker side. www.dw.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Rich in Washington:

The power of Heino! This set has made me realize that I had the stereo channels on my Aux fader inverted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Otis Fodder:

Oh god PK. Why am I not surprised?

I just hope he keeps his sunglasses on. There's that one video where he takes them off on stage with like 100 Heino's it seems on stage with him. Or maybe I am having another daymare.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Rich in Washington:

Yeah, PK, whenever I post, mention or play Heino, my friends in Germany and adjacent countries are horrified, bemused, etc.
Avatar 3:39pm Sem:

Which of the Circles of Hell has this as muzak?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Otis Fodder:

I had a client a few years back in Germany who, when I mentioned I listened to James Last that brought a laugh and when I said Heino, she was very very surprised and was like, ooooookaaaaay.
Avatar 3:40pm Paper Kosmonaut:

We're not so keen on nazi-outings here in Europe. Especially in Germany they are very strict with measures. Even model WW2 airplanes aren't allowed swastika decals in Germany.
Avatar 3:41pm BC Sterrett:

A Heino popup cover? WHat!!?
Avatar 3:41pm Paper Kosmonaut:

On the other hand, in India they seem to have a tea brand called Hitler with even his face on the package.
Avatar 3:42pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Adolf's, not Heino's
Avatar 3:42pm zivilars:

@Paper Kosmonaut: Same goes with vine in Italy
Avatar 3:43pm BC Sterrett:

I'm loving all this German Mexican and Hawaiian music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Rich in Washington:

i found Heino via a bunch of middle aged German women who worked at a place I used to work at. One of them had Heino cassettes and I couldn't believe he was real.
Avatar 3:44pm Franco Twinkie:

Okay, try this: In English sing this along with Hieno: 'I have to be a big shot, and march around the town!'
Avatar 3:45pm zivilars:

@Rich: lol - your last sentence is so funny for someone from Germany who "normally" grew up with Heino
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Rich in Washington:

yeah, the Latin American motif in lots of Heino music. It makes me think of escaped Nazis, The Boys from Brazil and tales of Nazi UFOs in South America.
Avatar 3:46pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Haunebu's on ze moon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Otis Fodder:

BC, found it. Check the discogs photos, it pops up for the holiday - www.discogs.com...

Saw this a few years back here with a friend and was looking at it and he said OMG, are you going to buy that?! I said, no, here, you can have it for a dollar. Ha!
Avatar 3:47pm BC Sterrett:

Ha wow. I was pituring a pop up of a Christmas Heino. ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Otis Fodder:

Franco, making up lyrics now. Keywords: Sunglasses, Dogs. That's it.
Avatar 3:49pm Paper Kosmonaut:

@Zivilars: I heard there even were 'illegal' tapes on which Heino sang things like the Horst Wessel lied. Are you familiar with that?
Avatar 3:50pm Paper Kosmonaut:

@zivilars: I mean you heard of them?
Avatar 3:53pm zivilars:

@Paper Kosmonaut: Now that you mention it it's ringing somewhere in my head, but I can't put my finger on the details ... I'll have to google for that. There definitely was controversy about Heino and his songs in Nazi cirles, as you've mentioned, though – that I am sure about.
Avatar 3:54pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Yeah, Zivilars, I know that, I posted a link to that earlier in the chat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Otis Fodder:

Why do I feel like mopping floors at this moment. I hate mopping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Rich in Washington:

Heino and Brigit Bardot should do an album of Vicy era folk songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Otis Fodder:

This could be on a record, "Music to Shovel Snow By"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, yes Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Rich in Washington:

The inside of this record is like a Mother's Day card which you fill out and send to Mom like one of those cheap valentines we'd be forced to give out in school.
Avatar 3:57pm zivilars:

terrifying cover
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Otis Fodder:

Yes, one of his visible eye shots!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm chresti:

He's kind of wall-eyed
Avatar 3:59pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Thundervögel sind GO!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Otis Fodder:

I will ask Leland to ask Constance to send this record to Mom!
Avatar 3:59pm Sem:

Been a sweet couple of hours. Thx, BCS.
Avatar 3:59pm BC Sterrett:

This will probably be the last track for now. Thanks for tuning in friends :) Stay tuned for DJ Georgy Giril :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Otis Fodder:

I need a shower after this past set.
Avatar 3:59pm Paper Kosmonaut:

haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Otis Fodder:

BC... what a great show today. Lots of Laughs. Thanks!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Rich in Washington:
