morphe': Wow, I've heard so many horror stories about Catholic schools back in the day. My stepdad went to Holy Cross here in New Orleans. The standard punishment was to be made to kneel with arms outstretched, a heavy book or two in each hand. There was still corporal punishment even in public schools in Louisiana when I was a kid/teen and I took a couple of swats here and there, but it was all rather bureaucratic (one for getting sent out of class for talking, two for fighting). Never did me any harm except for psychological maladjustment and blurred vision ;)

Who did the remix on this? You can really here it only in the drums. There was a Gram Parsons renaissance around 1999 when that tribute album was released. I have gone to the sight in Joshua Tree where his burned body was left by his friends. One year, we bumped into some fans from Australia. I have ghoulishly been to the motel room where he died.

She once told me her first job was at a rougher high school in the mid 60s One boy was trying to show of and intimate her at the beginning of the school year so she cold cocked him. Trees were only around a very short time, so for fans, getting these extra tracks (demos, etc.) is like heaven! I first heard them when "On the Shore" was reissued in the '90s. I'm happy that this box will turn them on to a whole new group of people.

@Rick A, @11:00. there was little more to it then that, they did it of course because parsons told them he wanted to be cremated there. so when they got the casket there, they lit it on fire, but the fire burnt itself out only partially destroying the casket and severely scorched his corpse. you would think after going through all that trouble hijacking his body that they would have enough common sense to pile a crap load of wood on his casket to make sure the deed got done. in the end they ef't him up.
