Morning Irene, almost forgot about the Drummer Stream. It's Monday and noon, how could I, almost?
Avatar 12:03pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Hey Brian, apparently we have another ‘Beast from the East’ heading our way in the next couple of weeks, can’t wait!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Brian in UK:

Irene, Gwenifer Raymond was an ear opener this year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Irene Trudel:

Hey TDK60, I have a had time determining what day it is too. Glad you're here.Brian, agreed about Gwenifer. We'll hear from her later. So much great music this year-- I'm already planning part 2 for next week!
Avatar 12:08pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Irene, your sublime choices of music has lifted our spirits through a year we are glad to see the back of.

Too kind, Sean! The music I've discovered this year has been a lifesaver and I'm so happy that I can share it here on @GTDRadio stream!

First Snowdrop about to appear in the garden.
Avatar 12:31pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Next month daffodils will start to appear, first sign of Spring
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Irene Trudel:

I'm definitely looking forward to the renewing flowers of early spring.
Avatar 12:42pm northguineahills:

The leaves will start to turn color here in a week or two, and by early Feb, they'll be growing back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Michael 98145:

Surprisingly, some of the smaller cherry trees around here are starting to blossom
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Irene Trudel:

northguineahills, that's one of my favorite times of the new year-- looking for those first splashes of color on the trees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Brian in UK:

Our liar-in-chief is on TV this evening to tell of further lockdown measures. He is good but not a patch on your liar-in chief. Happy days.
Avatar 12:45pm TDK60:

I could still use another snowstorm, in early January.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Brian in UK:

Wonder if anyone has ever written music for Egon Schiele and what it would sound like.
Avatar 12:47pm βrian:

Little Human just zeroed-in on your playlist image, Irene: "That's cool!"
  12:48pm uptowner:

I could use another year of lockdown, the way this show has gone. (maybe not really. but there's a strong component of feeling in me that just wants to keep staying home and listening to music like this, forever and ever)
Avatar 12:48pm northguineahills:

@Irene: It's weird, since it happens so late down here, and then there are spring sprigs a few weeks later. Further south (like Miami), they leaves don't change at all.
  12:49pm uptowner:

Wonder no more, Brian in the UK - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_for_Egon_Schiele
Avatar 12:53pm northguineahills:

@uptowner: That's a fave Rachel's album of mine, and introduced me to Egon Schiele when I was I was 18. (didn't discover Rachel's until then).
Avatar 12:53pm Sean in Bristol UK:

@Brian in UK, possibly a lockdown until Easter, getting through winter has taken a new meaning. Meanwhile the music we are listening to most definitely keeps us in a great and positive vibe
Avatar 12:53pm northguineahills:

Scott Williams' nom de musique.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Brian in UK:

uptowner, good lord. Looks like an early Schiele on the cover. Will check it out. We went to Vienna in 2015 to see the museum with many of the paintings from his brief life. He and his wife died from the Pandemic in 1918.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Brian in UK:

Thanks for the posting, uptowner.
Avatar 1:00pm Stork:

Arriving to Planet Irene, hearing some inter-stellar sounds of beauty. Happy New's, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Irene Trudel:

uptowner, I totally know how you feel. But you can take the show with you on the phone app. Brian, that's a beautiful album by Rachels, BTW. I'll play some of it un an upcoming show. ngh, different Scott Williams, although both are fine guitarists, WFMU's Scott Williams is one of the driving forces on the skeleton crew helping keep things running while we have to stay home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Irene Trudel:

Good to have you here, Stork! Looking forward to next Sunday's Max Roach tribute.
Avatar 1:05pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

oh, I have this album by Rachel's! I don't remember it though, I'll have to listen again
Avatar 1:07pm Stork:

Me, too, Irene. Really fun putting it together. (how can you go wrong with Roach!, how can you miss with Max?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Brian in UK:

Thanks Irene, sad that Schiele passed so young, he was just starting to use colour well; at least to my untrained eye.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Webhamster Henry:

You can see a little biopic on Schiele called "Egon Schiele: Death and he Maiden" on Kanopy. Authentic costumes and Viennese accents!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Webhamster Henry:

People are complaining that it's watered down and doesn't spend enough time on his actual art, and I concur.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Brian in UK:

Webhamster Henry, so difficult to show the life of a painter. There can never be a substitute for seeing paintings in front of you.
Avatar 1:15pm northguineahills:

@Henry: I barely understand lowland German, there's no way I would understand Viennese German (The highland German of Berlin is what I can get by on).

@Irene: that was the joke! ;P
Avatar 1:19pm northguineahills:

Bill Fay is awesome!
Avatar 1:20pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Oh my goodness, just had the Myrkur track playing whilst cycling, thank you Irene in pointing me in this particular direction.

We just had a power cut just now, this is an usual event, pondering thoughts right now
Avatar 1:21pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Sorry unusual to
Avatar 1:26pm Sean in Bristol UK:

One of my favourite albums in 2020, thank you Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Irene Trudel:

Oh, that stinks Sean! I know you have the phone app, which totally comes in handy at moments like this. Hope your power returns quickly.
Avatar 1:27pm northguineahills:

I have shitty hotel wifi, so the app saves my sanity at least five times a day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm WR:

Hi Irene and all. RE: phone app, for anyone on Android there is woof moo app that I really like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Webhamster Henry:

@Brian/UK It's hard to compress the art-making experience into standard movie times, for sure! La Belle Noiseuse spends a lot of time in the painting process.
@ngh: Viennese is not as impenetrable as all that - and you DO get subtitles! Schwiezerdeüütsch, OTOH, takes some training.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Irene Trudel:

Hey WR! is that woof moo app different from the regular one?
  1:31pm uptowner:

@UKBrian - sure thing - I heard _Music for Egon Schiele_ in a coffeeshop about 10 years ago and put it on my acquisition list, but never got to it. So I appreciate the serendipitous reminder (in the form of your asking)
Avatar 1:31pm northguineahills:

don't get me started on Scweizerdeuutsch (ou suisse francais, then there is Ramamsh)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm WR:

Yes Irene, very different. I learned of it from a comment by station manager Ken last spring. It has excellent features as well as the full content found on WFMU home page.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Irene Trudel:

Henry, I totally agree about seeing at in person. Peter and I went to The Whitney to see the Mexican artist mural exhibition. You can't get the real size impact especially with that exhibit without being there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Irene Trudel:

Oh, I'll have to check that one out, WR! The other app doesn't have the homepage stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Webhamster Henry:

@Irene I got to hang out with the Water Lillies at the Orangerie alone for about 20 minutes once. Yet another upside to off-season travel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Webhamster Henry:

Here's that Android app: play.google.com...

I don' know bout the Android side, but the iOS app has been sending me beta versions a lot recently.
  1:41pm Peter K.:

Greetings from across the room. I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of praise. A lovely show, and a welcome reminder that some good things really did happen in 2020.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

This Suzzy Roche songs is gorgeous, Irene!
Avatar 1:44pm Stork:

Gorgeous is correct!
Avatar 1:44pm Stork:

Amen 'n amen, Peter K.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Webhamster Henry:

Nice singing today, indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Peter! Henry, I'm not sure I know the Water Lillies, but nice you were able to hang out together. Oh how I miss hanging out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Irene Trudel:

That whole Suzzy Roche/Lucy Wainwright Roche album is gorgeous. I highly recommend it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Brian in UK:

Webhamster Henry, that room is something. This is my favourite, it is in the Courtauld in London but often out on loan. The print and the real thing are so different. So bold with so much sea and sky
