Handy Haversack:

We can think of the solstice as midwinter's day rather than the first day of winter -- makes spring seem a lot closer.

@HyperDose, Blood Quantum is pretty brutal, visually and emotionally. I looked at some reviews afterward and found them mostly pretty facile and surface level. I think the outcomes of trauma and violence as played out in the movie go at least a couple of levels beyond where most reviewers stopped. Definitely worth watching. Does what horror movies should, I think.

Hey, nice one, YB!

By way of Catholicism trivia (and no other purpose!), the "Immaculate Conception" does not relate to the curious conception of J.C., but rather the conception of Mary (being "conceived w/o sin") so that she could serve as an appropriate 'vessel' of the son of God. Don't blame me - I don't write this stuff!
