I unapologetically love The Bee Gees. Hello all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm Scott Williams:

I can never decide what my fave disco Bee Gees is, but this one's always a contender! Seems like I'm gonna have to pony up for temp HBO, huh?

Scott, most definitely.

Scott, it's worth it just for the restored 35mm footage from the NBC special. it's like the Jurassic Park of music docs.

If there is any song that is more 70s than this, I'd like to see that!

EFD & Sam & P90, sold! Handy, I absolutely agree with Kate! Hello Jack!

Hey HP Ken! My cupboards are less bare than usual, thanks for earlier concern.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Michael in Montclair:

Hello EFD and all of my fellow funksters! I hope everyone in the WFMU vicinity (i.e. NJ/NYC) are all hunkered down and staying warm and dry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Aitch:

It's the Knights on Broadway you have to really worry about. A lot of crossed swords.
  9:08pm P-90:

Wouldn’t do to go into this Crimson Sweet with improperly faded pots. Nope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Handy Haversack:

Scott, she's an only child, and I think this is a special source of resentment. She wants a sibling just for harmonies!
  9:08pm Figgsrock:

Pre-Main Course my favorite Bee Gees tracks are “Massachusetts” and “Melody Fair.” I’d say “Nights on Broadway” and “Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)” are my favorites from their Miami years.
  9:09pm Sam Pocker:

Michael, they said on the news that the snow was a statewide event but that they would "keep all eyes on the north".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm spodiodi:

hi Jack!
  9:09pm pgalub:

Good evening efd, Scott (again!), Jack, and fellow funksters!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Scott Williams:

Figgsrock, "Melody Fair" is HEAVY. Disco years, I'd add "Our Love (Don't Throw it All Away)" - I get high on that chorus
  9:10pm Sam Pocker:

Was anyone else disappointed that they completely skipped over the 90s and the final album?
Avatar 9:11pm Hoboken Jack:

Sam, was it from California Pizza Kitchen? Or Shakey's. Or Round Table.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Indeed, Jack. Keep a full pantry in the winter months.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Scott Williams:

Hey again, pgalub!
Avatar 9:12pm Hoboken Jack:

Pete! Stepladder.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm efd:

hey everyone! Thanks for joining me on this snowy (around here at least) evening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm McGroovey:

The Tubes' "Love Bomb": people hate it, but I like it. But I'm a Todd Rundgren fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm efd:

@McGroovey very underrated album IMHO!
  9:16pm pgalub:

I was just listening to "Love Bomb" only a few days ago. Definitely some cool stuff on there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Uncle Michael:

The internet is a series of tubes.
Avatar 9:17pm Hoboken Jack:

Sam, the Go-Go's doc also ignored later decades. I feel like younger documentarians strive for a neater bow? Surprised they didn't mention the Bee Gees final top 10 hit from 1989, "One." But that and sporadic Go-Go reunions don't fit the dramatic arc.
  9:18pm ledzeppelinsucks:

I saw the cook use smashed potato tots to stuff my burrito. I ordered hash browns, not god damned smashed browns. I am shaking my horchata in anger.
Avatar 9:19pm Hoboken Jack:

I bought the Best of The Tubes at Tunes for 4 bucks this week.
Avatar 9:19pm Hoboken Jack:

Hi McGroove
Avatar 9:20pm Joe B:

The Go-Go's doc - I can see skipping it because it didn't get much attention but yeah, as Jack points out, One was a pretty big comeback for them. can't get it all in in a 1:45 doc.
  9:20pm Andres:

zep: Don't spill any of that precious horchata in anger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm McGroovey:

This Tubes has less Fee Waybill than their big hits, more Vince Welnick, I guess. It fits with the Utopia album of the same year, and in fact they toured together. And this is the sound of the late '80s/early '90s Todd solo albums. The best songs on the Utopia record are probably better than the best songs the Tubes album, but the worst songs on the Tubes album are probably better than the worst songs on the Utopia album.

I'm thinking too hard.
  9:21pm ledzeppelinsucks:

The Tubes were the first band to play live at the brand new Tacoma Dome August 1983. I saw them. Then came David Bowie.
  9:21pm Sam Pocker:

Jack, the Go-Go's doc I felt was more about the label paying for a commercial to generate catalog sales (which worked). They skipped over a lot of pivotal moments in that one. Not that there's anything wrong with that but it didn't seem as if it was trying to tell the story as much as it was just trying to get a new audience interested in the band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Handy Haversack:

Honestly, I don't know if I have ever heard the Tubes before -- enjoying it, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm efd:

@Handy that seems unpossible!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Handy Haversack:

PLU's bed music?
Avatar 9:22pm Joe B:

have no recollection of Love Bomb, and I was a fan of both the Tubes and Todd R. weird
Avatar 9:23pm Joe B:

what pivotal moments were skipped in the Go go's doc?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm McGroovey:

@Handy you've heard the Tubes' hits, undoubtedly: She's a Beauty was the big one ... what else?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm Handy Haversack:

@efd, I was raised wrong!
  9:23pm Andres:

Handy: Me too. If I've heard them then I didn't know it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm ultradamno:

@Handy The was definitely some of that neater bow syndrome in that doc in how they presented the band's significance as an all-girl act. You'd have thought it was them, the people who agreed to talk on camera, and that was it.
Avatar 9:25pm Hoboken Jack:

Love Bomb is paired with Bora Bora 2000 on the Best Of (which, Handy, also includes She's a Beauty, Talk To Ya Later, but not White Punks on Dope).
  9:25pm pgalub:

I'm a sucker for the single off this one- "Piece By Piece" Great tubular/Rundgrenny pop!
  9:25pm Andres:

McGroovey: Okay then, yes, I have.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm McGroovey:

Both "Love Bomb" and "POV" (the Utopia album) totally bombed. Both bands basically broke up as a results, though of course the Tubes later got back together.

A cover of one song "Mated" from POV was a big hit somewhere international a year or two later.
Avatar 9:26pm Hackensack Slim:

Handy, Does White Punks on Dope ring a bell?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Uncle Michael:

What do ya want from life?
  9:26pm ledzeppelinsucks:

She’s A Beauty by The Tubes is about the peep booths that were at the corner of Broadway and Columbus in San Francisco early 80s. The Tubes lived in a house on Noriega ST in the 70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm efd:

"Don't Touch Me There," "Prime Time," "Tal kTo You Later" were also hittish
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Handy Haversack:

@McGroovey, as in, "She's a beauty -- she's a one-in-a-million girl!"? OK.

And of course, I have heard "White Punks on Dope"!

Whew, OK, turns out I'm not ignorant, just dumb! Much happier that way!
Avatar 9:28pm Joe B:

The Tubes could never top appearing on SCTV
  9:28pm Andres:

Ignorance is something or other...
  9:28pm R2:

Bee Gees doc is indeed great. but it loses a point for not having a sing;e mention of Sgt. Pepper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm luka:

“talk to you later” is an all time Tubes heater.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Uncle Michael:

It loses 100 points for ignoring Odessa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Scott Williams:

I'm with Joe B, how'd I never know this?? And where's Fee? Not hearing him at all
  9:30pm pgalub:

Todd does his own version of this ("Feel It") on "Nearly Human".
Avatar 9:30pm Joe B:

they should have at least discussed the Odessa album cover
Avatar 9:30pm Hoboken Jack:

Joe, nothing major was skipped in the Go-Go's doc, but it falsely gives you the impression that the new single I is the first time they've worked together in 30 years. I still enjoyed it and the Bee Gees doc a whole lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm McGroovey:

Piece By Piece and Feel It totally feel like '80s Todd songs. He had a big hand in most of the songs. The band was bickering, and arrived at the sessions with only a few half-written songs, and he had to fix it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Kat in Chicago:

My friends are complaining right now on Facebook about the Sgt. Pepper omission, R2 (which maybe says something about my friends)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Handy Haversack:

I'm still just trying to get in a stable enough place to not cry all the way through the MacGowan documentary. The Zappa one tore me up. Maybe the Bee Gees one would be a good, neutral-space reentry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm McGroovey:

Just looked at the writing credits, and Fee is nowhere. I think he was only minimally present for the sessions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Uncle Michael:

Well, they did show the cover for a second. But when a band's masterpiece directly contributes to a breakup, I'd say it's worth a couple of minutes.
Avatar 9:31pm Joe B:

agreed jack it does give that impression. 'God Bless 'is a good album
  9:33pm Figgsrock:

Wow, I’ve never heard this Tubes epic before. Pretty amazing. I guessed that Todd Rundgren produced it before even looking at the comments.
Also I really loved other Tubes Top 40 hit, “Don’t Want to Wait Anymore.”
Avatar 9:33pm Joe B:

@UM - yes, and that probably contributed to them jumbling the chronology of that era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm ultradamno:

The Roky one is rough, he went through a lot.
  9:34pm Sam Pocker:

Jack, one major omission was the controversy surrounding the backstage video. They skipped a lot of negative stuff. Don't even think they mention Belinda's Forex trading by payphone.
Avatar 9:34pm Joe B:

I just realized they also left out Cucumber Castle! fuck that doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Uncle Michael:

And the fact that Robin split and made a great fucking solo album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Handy Haversack:

People's Champ has spoken! Fuck it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Chop Scott:

I'm with you Joe B.!
  9:35pm pgalub:

"If you know what you want, I'll get it for you. If you don't know what you want, I'll do it for you."-- Todd Rundgren
Avatar 9:35pm Joe B:

The Roky one borders on exploitation - hey, look how crazy this guy is! i hated it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Scott Williams:

Thanks Evan! Fingers crossed I get outta here tonight
Avatar 9:36pm Joe B:

stay safe Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm ultradamno:

  9:37pm Dave Miss:

Skeleton Scott! Protect ya bones!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Kat in Chicago:

Yikes, good luck, Scott. We only got a dusting in the Chi today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm ultradamno:

That one didn't bother too much on those grounds, not nearly as much as the Daniel Johnston one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm McGroovey:

There's so much great BeeGees '60s stuff. Most of their '60s stuff is good-to-great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Scott Williams:

Thanks, friends! I've got my bike
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Uncle Michael:

Careful, Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm ultradamno:

His brother's side of it kind of brought it to earth for me, I guess.
Avatar 9:38pm Joe B:

I also never knew Fee Waybill did a solo album, or that they later took Martha Davis' vocals off of Monkey Time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Scott Williams:

my annoying opinion on Odessa: everything pales compared to Melody Fair. And Robin's Reign is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Uncle Michael:

The Bee Gees doc didn't deal that much with the music before Main Course.
  9:39pm Androu B.:

Hi everyone!

So glad you played that Tubes album, Evan. I've recently been rediscovering "The Runt"'s solo work, the Utopia discog, and his production work with other acts like The Tubes. As a matter of fact, I saw Utopia and The Tubes perform at The Capitol Theater in Passaic back in 1986. (Still have the original ticket stub to prove it! 😎)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Handy Haversack:

I only ever started hearing the sixties Bee Gees stuff on WFMU, and it made me reconsider my entire Bee Gees position and once again have to be all like, "You know what, [Handy]? You're kind of a moron." Great stuff!
  9:40pm Sam Pocker:

are we talking about the Shane MacGowen film?
Avatar 9:40pm Joe B:

@UM - yeah I don't think Idea was mentioned at all
Avatar 9:40pm Hoboken Jack:

Love Bomb only reached #87 and the Tubes didn't make another album until 1996 (which the Tubes doc will skip).
Avatar 9:41pm Joe B:

I guess peter bogdanovich can't do a 9-hour movie on every band
Avatar 9:41pm Hoboken Jack:

Therese interviewed Kate Pierson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm ultradamno:

I've got it on the DVR, but haven't watched it yet.
  9:43pm Sam Pocker:

Evan the bridge is called Julia Tuttle Causeway
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Handy Haversack:

I discovered my falsetto, too, but as attendees of Stashu's Zoom Karaoke Party can attest, it was probably best left undiscovered.
  9:43pm Andres:

If you mention Casey Kasem then you need to follow it up with a long distance dedication.
Avatar 9:43pm Joe B:

it is a great doc though. If you are the editor, and you have an hour and 45 minutes, you can't cover everything
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm ultradamno:

I kind of think Documentary Now's Blue Jean Committee episode can make these docs an uphill climb (the falsetto talk reminded of that...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm McGroovey:

HobJack on the ball! Woohoo!

Oh, and hey Jack.
Avatar 9:44pm Joe B:

@Handy - ha!
Avatar 9:44pm Hoboken Jack:

Sam, I thought the Shane doc was better made than the others discussed here, even if the drooling modern Shane is difficult viewing (and hearing).
  9:44pm Androu B.:

Oh, I should also mention that, for a time, I owned a vinyl copy of The Tubes' "Remote Control". Enjoyed playing the heck out of that album until the grooves wore out! (Of course, I'm exaggerating, lol!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Handy Haversack:

I'm no Jarvis Cocker, Joe B. It's been legally determined as well as morally mandated!
  9:46pm Figgsrock:

For those that want a Bee Gees doc with a bit of a different spin (but still leaves out Sgt Pepper, unfortunately) there’s the authorized one, This Is Where I Come In, they did in 2001 posted on YouTube. Much of the archival interview footage in the new doc is from here:

https://youtu.be/RYH3EYaRSqU
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Uncle Michael:

I second Figgsrocks rec. Also "This Is Where I Came In" is a really good record!
  9:47pm Sam Pocker:

Jack, I agree it was better made than the Go-Go's film but not as strong as the Bee Gees, and that maybe purely by issue of the budget and the material. I've never been a particularly big Pouges fan and by the end of it I was left to feel like he was just kind of a drug addict who got lucky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm ultradamno:

I remember liking The Monks one a lot.
Avatar 9:47pm Joe B:

@sam - agreed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hello, EFD...and all in Funky Town. SNOW DAY!!!
  9:48pm Sam Pocker:

Steve I loved that album. I wish any of these films chronicled the Bee Gees in 1997.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Uncle Michael:

I'll tell you what though...I'll take a crap documentary over any biopic.
Avatar 9:48pm Joe B:

There is a brief shot of Stork and I with the Monks at the FMU record fair in one of the DVD extras
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm ultradamno:

No real attempts at working up a melodrama, just a real good look at the band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Handy Haversack:

Mr. P! The rock has summoned thee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Mr. Pumpy:

And so I have arrived!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm coelacanth∅:

  9:49pm Sam Pocker:

Joe B have you ever seen a doc on UB40? Not dissimilar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Mr. Pumpy:

coel! what up?
Avatar 9:50pm Joe B:

never saw it, my interest in UB40 starts and ends with their I Got You babe cover
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm coelacanth∅:

Mr.P i was just about to call you (about 30 min ago) and alas my phone was near-dead
  9:52pm Sam Pocker:

I never usually have the time or patience on Wednesday night to hang out in a chat room like this. It's fun and I'm enjoying the conversation!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Mr. Pumpy:

Ahhh...I'm off-ish for a few days. Any time. My move is over and now I'm somewhat settled and dealing with more normal life stuff. No worries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm coelacanth∅:

Pumpy has life calmed down there a little now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm coelacanth∅:

oh you just answered that question!
  9:53pm Sam Pocker:

Mr P, where did you move to/from?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Mr. Pumpy:

coel...yes. I'm still taking care of pops and all, but I closed on the sale of my house and am just here at dad's now with my records and necessities. The rest is in storage. I have to get settled, but I'm at least only living in one place.
  9:53pm Androu B.:

Something very Fall-ish about this Soft Shoulder track.
  9:54pm Carmichael:

Heya Evan and peoples, popping up like whack a mole.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Mr. Pumpy:

Sam...I moved from Clifton, NJ to Clifton, NJ. This is a point that has led to much confusion amongst my peers, Handy included. Cross town...over to the better side of the tracks!

I suppose it wouldn't be a brilliant observation to mention that the Soft Shoulder track sounds like the Fall.

  9:55pm Carmichael:

You played the friggin tubes, Todd produced. Already loving the playlist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Handy Haversack:

I can attest to Mr. Pumpy having a very classy lava lamp already set up in his new digs. But his address is still a mystery ... NOW.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Mr. Pumpy:

Carmichael, how do? I typed 'Cars'michael by mistake...I'm trying to make more out of you!
  9:56pm Sam Pocker:

Mr P, so east clifton to west clifton?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm efd:

Congrats, your CD player is now being controlled by ghosts
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm coelacanth∅:

whew!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Mr. Pumpy:

Handy, that thing shit the bed yesterday. Well, I am not throwing it out, but the switch on the cord started to smoke. That's time to unplug or burn! I have a replacement on the way...maybe even for Sunday! AND...you know where I am NOW! And...NOW!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Handy Haversack:

efd, this happened to us with the car CD player in October. Unfortunately, that means my best advice is "Listen to Melenas a couple more times, keep driving, and then enjoy the miracle."

Ah! See? It worked!
Avatar 9:58pm Joe B:

@efd - sounds like my car repair technique - open hood, look under hood at nothing specific, close hood, try starting car again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Mr. Pumpy:

coel, cool. I'm available all day tomorrow, but if your around noonish EST, that may be the best.
  9:58pm Androu B.:

Mr. P,
By any chance, are your old digs anywhere in the area of the Loop Lounge?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Handy Haversack:

Joe B, sounds like you and me could start a business!
Avatar 10:00pm Joe B:

ha handy! just had a similar cd issue, eventually the entire radio died and i had to replace it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Uncle Michael:

Joe, you sound like my urologist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Mr. Pumpy:

Androu, not really. A five minute drive maybe, but I'm up in the northeast extreme of Clifton by Paterson, not Passaic. I lived down E 7th from the Harp. I put MANY hours in at the Loop years back, though. No doubt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Handy Haversack:

The car-iest thing I ever did was take the tape deck out of the last car -- and then realize I had no idea how to put it in the next car.

coel, yes. It's a couple hundred feet into Passaic on the Clifton border.
  10:03pm Sam Pocker:

Mr. P I used to have storage in Patterson. It was an adventure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Mr. Pumpy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Mr. Pumpy:

coel, I never went to the Dirt. Aside from the usual coke obsessed goth scene at the Loop...I saw some killer shows there over the years. The Fiendz Dramarama, Candiria, The Wipers...maybe? Anyhow, for a little joint, they sometimes deliver.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Mr. Pumpy:

  10:16pm Androu B.:

Oh, wow! Glad to know you once worked there! I used to go there around the early 00's; remember seeing live performances from many of my fave acts, especially the time Killing Joke played there.

Btw, you do realize that you're now living in Ron English territory, don't you? I suggest you keep a sharp eye out the next time you come across a billboard in that area. You never know when you'll end up seeing one of his "masterpieces" up on display. He's still been pretty much on active duty since the last time I logged onto his website.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Handy Haversack:

And as mankind pressed on, against all odds, for thousands of years, two eternal questions remained unanswered. The first was the obvious, "What rhymes with orange?" with the second being, "What's the opposite of dent?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Mr. Pumpy:

Matmos?! woofmoo gets the stuff. The stuff!
  10:44pm Carmichael:

Eminem can tell you exactly what rhymes with orange. And a suck is the opposite of a dent. I know this to be at least partially true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm efd:

@Sam no more Bee Gees on my show tonight, at least. That's as far as I'll go.
  10:46pm Androu B.:

  10:55pm hendrix wolfbat:

Hi everyone I need some help with the wfmu app who do yall think I should ask? It's a bit complicated, but basically I have a new iPhone 12 and because T-Mobile screwed up my order. They made me get another iPhone 12. I have to set up the 2nd and send the first new iPhone 12 back. It hasn't been working at all. Nothing wants to set up the second new iPhone 12 and as a result of fooling around with it. It erased. All. My saved shows in the W FM U app. I had shows saved on this phone from 2014 to the present. I had shows on this phone that don't exist anymore. I mean, they're in the archives, but I can't get them on the phone. It's really depressing and upsetting me. I don't know why it's happening and so I tried to save a couple of new shows. Like some shows from Shrunken Planet. And. When I went back to the app later, they weren't there, even though I downloaded them for later playing. Anyone know who I should contact about this? It's bumming me out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Kat in Chicago:

That would be cool. I might be ready to sing now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Kat in Chicago:

oh jeez hendrix wolfbat, that sucks. I'm not sure who the contact is for the app but hopefully someone will chime in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm Kat in Chicago:

(10:55 was for Handy)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm efd:

@hendrix I think the best person to start with is Station Manager Ken (ken at wfmu dot org) and hopefully he can help troubleshoot. Off the top of my head, though, I think shows are saved to the device, so I'm not sure if there's a way to move them to a new device. But check with Ken.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Matt Fiveash:

Crazy, I was just thinking about Caps For Sale this afternoon- was doing a crossword puzzle and one of the answers was "peddler", and somehow I remember that I learned what the word "peddler" meant from that book.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Kat in Chicago:

haha efd! my guess is most Bed-Stuy apartments don't get enough light to maintain succulents. I barely can, I have nice big windows but they face the wrong way.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm Matt Fiveash:

Somewhat related- there's a great clip somewhere on youtube of the Jesus Lizard playing at CBGB where David Yow starts grabbing ballcaps (which everyone is wearing since it's the early '90s) off everyone in the pit's heads and stacking them high on his own head whilst singing...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm Handy Haversack:

No, I'm wrong -- Olivia played one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm spodiodi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm McGroovey:

I didn't wear a cap in the early '90s, and especially not at CBGB. Serves them right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Matt Fiveash:

the best part is that when he's done he tosses the hats back into the audience like frisbees with no regard for where they came from.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm spodiodi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Matt Fiveash:

RR- that wasn't me, I'm pretty sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Kat in Chicago:

Avatar 11:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I'm so old I remember only little boys wore bballcaps...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31pm ultradamno:

And that's why you can never have too many caps, David Yow will Robin Hood them away from you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm McGroovey:

And don't get me started on backwards caps.
Avatar 11:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@Matt5 : OK - I learn different you'll be 1st to know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm Handy Haversack:

@Handy I'm trying to write words for a song. Maybe I need to start over with sandwiches, and ditch the pissed-off-at-love angle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Handy Haversack:

"Stand by Your Manwich," coela?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm McGroovey:

Hey, now if I could find a Elvis Costello-ish rhyme for Dagwood, I'd be home free. The rest of the song can be poop, but an EC rhyme can give me a brag.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm efd:

total bargain, McGroovey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm McGroovey:

A can of deviled ham would be easier to carry around than Manwich (or spam). Deviled ham is pocket-size.

Pretty crazy production.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm ultradamno:

Yeah, or sardines.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm Threemoons:

Hey all. Just dropping in and I see we are talking about canned meat. Oddly enough, I just finished a very late dinner of a Spamwich. I had a roast beef and egg sandwich during this show. Maybe I'll write a song about it.

Are there any good songs about salmon jerky? A family member gifted me some. It's pretty damn good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm ultradamno:

Hmm. I like salmon. Get those omegas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm McGroovey:

Like sandwiches through the hourglass, coela.

I once sketched out a Tom Waits tribute song called (and lyricked) "A Dented Can of Gypsy Brand Pork Loaf Patty Meat Product."

You'd think Blondie would've broached the Dagwood lyric..
Spam sketch Half Century yesterday ! I know this.

efd, thanks so much! What a fantastic show! And to Sceleton Scott, too! This has been an absolute blast. And also, thanks for being a Kate supporter. I've done it for 21 years, and it never steered me wrong.

Be well, all of you! This was fandamntasitc!
