Fox: I can cook for $20/week, many cuisines. You just need to make connections at the right markets. I didn't get good until my 30s, and figured out it was just like making music.
Seeing Mathew Shipp w/ William Parker converted me to the dark side of music as a kid.

Chucky Cheeze:
Nice piano on a cold Sunday evening with a room full of candles sounds warm!!!...:)
We're ramping up three shows in a row w/ Sun Ra (actually, it's rare when a show doesn't play Sun Ra, as it should be, not selling any of my Sun Ra rekkids)
NorthGuinea: I am great at cooking on a budget! Food stamps means I have less than $3 a meal. It wasn't difficult when I was going to the local green grocer regularly. But now with Covid and ordering everything online, my food costs have doubled, at least.
Oh my gosh. I never thought one could segue from Sun Ra to the Carpenters. Of course The Great Gaylord Fields did it, and so smoothly I didn't realize we were listening to a new song until I thought, "Hmm. It sounds like Karen is singing on this Sun Ra track..."
Now Darkness arrives - as Kerouac foretold - Earth turning clockwise into the shadow of the East
...into Winter Solstice & the slow hard Capricorn climb out of longest Night - into the dark dark New Moon Solar Eclipse of hopeful Sagittarius three degrees from Galactic Center
- turning turning turning spheres of the vast millionyear neighborhood of our Milky Way...
& Gaylord Fields - the Master Weaver of all the mad beautiful online NJ~NYC FreeForm DJs of WFMU casts his cinematic sonic sorcery of the heart & mind - upon the frame of the luminal evening of Sunday
...where we place our weekend dreams upon the altar of mortality & capitalism
- they burn ...rise to Heaven ...weep

Linda C:
I just knew this show would be a perfect rainy night soundtrack.
Then winter begins I get a break for four more days and I start 12 more days of Christmas after that!!!...:)

Dean:
Spent much of today post-Stork Club listening to recordings of BWV 813, Bach's so-called "French" Suite no. 2. Best so far: Tatiana Nikolaeva (for whom Shostakovich wrote his P&F). Now I'm sorry I missed Sun Ra and Carpenters.
HexFamChan, that must of been awful, couldn't you at least hum?

A reviewer for Fanfare magazine this year awarded Iva Bittová's Bartók duos for two violins a place on the Want List. She recorded it with Dorothea Kellerova over 20 years ago, but only recently released it. Includes vocals!
@chresti – yea not listening to music... i so very do NOT recommended. painful to say the least. no worries tho, i wasnt locked up or nuthin serious like that :)

@Sorry, fox: I was insinuating that if I was in geographical proximity, I'd cook for you. (Since moving to FL, even w/ a home, I've had no one to cook for, since my family pretty much only likes white bread fast food. My friends didn't have a kitchen, and my old house was too small for guests. In NYC I used to do dinner parties and cooking contests.
ngh, me either! i found it (and the link UM posted while searching for the scene i made up in my mind.)
Beaky Buzzard was the "taking home a baby bumble bee" guy, and the Stork in the compilation at the end of UM's link is the drunk bird i had confused *shakes fist at memory*
It treats music as an inconvenient truth. Fmily ups and downs, label ups and downs, marital ups and downs, career ups and downs. Little interest shown in the making of music.
Sgt. Peppers didn't happen? HELL, Odessa never happened, I guess.

Andres:
Glad that One Minute was an ask for more time and not a characterization.
Alright with The Beatles - in the sense that 50 other people have covered the other angle - but when there's only one... Which is kinda the problem with big budget culture...
yesterday, during Rex's show, i typed "this reminds me of sixt minute man by billy ward and the dominoes " while Cave Man was playing (before the playlist told me as much ) :-B love sixty minute man (<3 Fallout)

Chucky Cheeze:
Has anybody done an in-depth documentary on Brian Jones yet???...:)
@Gaylord: No, the response to my Surgeon General comment, when you said, "Call her Doctor, dammit." I could be totally off the mark. Wouldn't be the first time!
That's great Steve.... BUT WILL YOU BE HOLDING MY HAND BEDSIDE IN THE AM?!
@Gaylord : I'm happy to indemnify you but the lawyer for the Osmonds may not be so forgiving regarding the start of this set. (And I sure as heck don't actually mean the Osmonds!)
Gaylord and Wendy the clown that wrote that piece has been duly exposed on Tweeter as a long-ago adjunct prof at Northwestern who apparently has no degree whatsoever and was also disowned quite vehemently by Northwestern.
I'm disgusted by those people who credit former positions as if they were permanent credentials. We need to get away from that baloney.
9:41pm
Chucky Cheeze:
I hope it was made in a nice perspective???...:)

I'm "carried away"... trying to " prove it"..."elevation" will get you to "friction"... don't get " carried away"...or it will all be a "souvenir from a dream"... happy birthday Tom Verlaine...Gaylord Fields Forever..
Huge, huge thanks to all of you! I loved bringing these two discrete yet complementary sets to you tonight! I'm out next week (no Winter Soul-stice, sorry; my heart's still not in it), but Samantha will be here and will be amazing! See you musically in two weeks!
and YES! Hall and Oates' "She's Gone" STILL gives me goosebumps, even after all these years -- but that Tavares version is even BETTER, imho -- thank you Gaylord!
