Connected, going out and bringing the stream and Destination Out with me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58am Jeff Golick:

Happy to go along with you, @WR.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00am fred:

Hello Jeff and all
Avatar 9:00am hyde:

hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01am Jeff Golick:

Good afternoon, @fred!
Greetings, @hyde!
  9:03am DJpeterDE:

Hola!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03am listener james from westwood:

Happy Sunday, Jeff and all!
Avatar 9:04am Listener Gregory:

Are these tatas-matoes free range? I only eat what I catch.
Avatar 9:04am TDK60:

Good morning Jeff. What's new in Brooklyn?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am Jeff Golick:

It's @DJpeterDE! And @listener james from westwood! And @Listener Gregory! And @TDK60! A real murderers row...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06am Jeff Golick:

New in Brooklyn? A cheese monger just opened up a few blocks away, so that's cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Jeff Golick:

No NYE fireworks in Prospect Park this year, for obvious reasons; less cool.
Avatar 9:09am hyde:

mmmmmmm, cheese
Avatar 9:10am TDK60:

Jeff, amazing that something has /opened/. I see all kinds of places closing down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am Jeff Golick:

Also, they're gonna reinstitute two-way tolling on the most expensive bridge in America, the Verrazzano: www.ny1.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am Jeff Golick:

@TDK60: yeah, it's really nuts (or a nuts-covered cheese roll). But I'm pulling for them!
  9:13am Doug Schulkind:

Hello, groovemonger Jeff. Hello, all.
Avatar 9:15am Listener Gregory:

Cheese makes up for any loss.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Jeff Golick:

Yo, @Doug Schulkind! This might be a decent yoga-accompaniment show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19am Jeff Golick:

Especially weight loss, @LG.
  9:26am Doug Schulkind:

We seem to be doing yoga on Saturday mornings these days. But the sounds will go well with my coming Sunday morning activity: Wiping down the groceries on the front porch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am fred:

Is Obscure the label that Eno ran?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Jeff Golick:

Yes, @fred, that's right.
  9:28am DJpeterDE:

Thought I heard coltrane's after the rain for a second
Avatar 9:28am Sem:

Good morning, Jeff, and all.
Avatar 9:28am Listener Gregory:

Tatas-matoes may be free range, but I'm not sure these songs ever saw the sunlight.
@DJpeter, so did I!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am Jeff Golick:

Hi, there, Stream Benefactor @Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am doctorjazz:

Pardon me for Budding in here...
  9:35am Doug Schulkind:

In one of those Two Songs, the vocal one, I thought I was hearing the score to a deleted dream sequence from South Pacific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Jeff Golick:

Someone had to say it, @doctorjazz. I'm glad it was you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am fred:

@doctorjazz: What was the track that your daughter posted about last week? It sounded good to me, but I didn't recognize it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am alanr:

thank you, as usual. I was waiting for someone to do a program on Budd's music. No surprise, you would be the one.
Avatar 9:40am Stork:

Who's my Budd-y Boy? It's Jeff G! Hiyo, Desties!
Avatar 9:41am Stork:

What alanr said.. Thanks, Jeff. Many people need this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am Jeff Golick:

Hi, @alanr! Kind words; thanks. I'm no Budd expert, though.
Wassup, @Stork!
Avatar 9:45am Listener Gregory:

Would write more, but it is taking 1 minute for each keystroke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48am Jeff Golick:

Heh. I hope no one was hoping to use this show to help them to wake up.
Avatar 9:52am Stork:

You're goin back on the deal, Jeff. You wake 'em up, I put 'em back to sleep, remember?
  9:52am Woo:

Harry and Brian BuddEno are just right for this morning.
Avatar 9:53am Stork:

Every track is my fave so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am Jeff Golick:

Greetings, @Woo!
Avatar 10:00am holland oats:

yo d:o! peeps!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Jeff Golick:

'Tis the season for @holland oats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am doctorjazz:

Hi, Fred! I actually don't know, believe my daughter recorded while I was listening to DO radio. It was actually the 1st of a 5 part series sure put together of me listening to "out" music (actually, her reaction with the music playing) that she posted on a few social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok), which was amusing...to me, anyway). She got some response from musician friends that loved the series.
(Lovely Budd, BTW)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Greetings, Jeff and folx. Sounds lovely in here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05am Jeff Golick:

Good morning, @Mx. Granny!
  10:05am DJpeterDE:

Has anyone learned more about the Marion Brown connection?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am Mx. Granny (e/em):

yes, i, too am curious about the Marion Brown connection!
Avatar 10:10am Listener Gregory:

Jeff, from your subdued tones, I'm guessing someone is still asleep in your home studio. You should consider a career as a golf commentator.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Jeff Golick:

Yeah, it's not ideal, @LG, but you guessed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am fred:

@doctorjazz: OK then, I guess I'll have to call it "Jets defensive play call in Hail Mary situation" then
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Mx. Granny (e/em):

i haven't done my morning chores yet, but i can't leave these sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am david w:

Thank you this, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am doctorjazz:

Great Blue Gene, haven't heard this album in ages (can't believe it's from 78...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Mx. Granny (e/em):

PS: one of those chores is slopping the cats, and they ain't gonna be pleased by the delay!
Avatar 10:16am Listener Gregory:

Blue Gene Tyranny is about the 12th person whose music I've never heard of until D:O did a memorial set for him. I guess I really have not been a responsible listener.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17am Jeff Golick:

Oh, @david w! Did you know/work with him?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am david w:

Yes. Did. Wonderful to hear this stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am doctorjazz:

Have this Blue Gene, old vinyl (had to find it now, of course, and I did)
Avatar 10:21am TDK60:

I've heard of B.G.T but never heard, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am Jeff Golick:

Aw, my condolences, @david.
  10:22am Listener Robert:

I LOVE the Doppler when the sound of a passing train horn is used. There's something electric about it that that does to me, maybe because of my knowledge of the motion effect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Mx. Granny (e/em):

My cats are staring at me through the window, gaunt and bedraggled… can't. step. away.
Avatar 10:23am Stork:

This track (Out of the Blue / A Letter from Home about Sound and Consciousness) is riveting, already!
Avatar 10:25am Stork:

Careful., Granny. You're food too, you know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am doctorjazz:

He just passed away? Hadn't heard, another sad 2020 passing. It doesn't even turn up if you search his name on Google...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30am doctorjazz:

Nice to see it available on Bandcamp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31am Jeff Golick:

The Unseen Worlds label has done great stuff in keeping Tyranny's stuff available.
Avatar 10:32am DJpeterDE:

BGT is a new name to me, as well, but placing these tracks in the mid-70s. Joni Mitchell, The Band, Jaco Pastorius, the Roche Sisters... I hear lots from those scenes (and others)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Jeff, this whole program always educates and inspires me. My mind is blown. Once again, i offer my most sincere appreciation.
Avatar 10:41am Listener Gregory:

These high, flutey harmonies sound like a real mark of the 70s to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Stork: thanks for the reminder! I promised myself to return to the archive later and got the cats slopped and my tea steeped. Whew! That was close!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43am chresti:

Morning Jeff and OUTies! Been listening while making coffee, sounds good, as always!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am chresti:

And what Grannykins said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am Jeff Golick:

Oh, @Mx. Granny, that's so lovely to hear. All praise to the music makers, though. I'm just happy to turn the volume up a little.
  10:45am Listener Robert:

I actually cried a little when I heard the Doppler that time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am Mx. Granny (e/em):

chrestikins! a cat just appeared behind me…
  10:45am Jon:

Excellent music today, as usual. Love the HB and Gene tracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am doctorjazz:

Have the Lovely Music vinyl of this and Just For The Record, will have to put that on later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Jeff, the day i connected with Marion Brown on your program is like a national holiday to me—about two years ago today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am chresti:

Good morning Grannykin's cats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am Jeff Golick:

Can I have some of that coffee, @chresti! (Hiya!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Jeff Golick:

Oh, @Listener Robert! What a wonderful feeling. Hello.

Thanks, @Jon. Glad you are here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am chresti:

Straight away, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am doctorjazz:

Anyone who'd like to see my daughter Rebecca's video lovingly teasing me and the out music heard here can find them on Instagram, @rebeccaskowron. She also did a take on Rudy Giuliani and some other short vids that I, completely objectively, of course, think are very funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am Jeff Golick:

@Mx. Granny: you can't believe how happy that Marion Brown comment makes me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am Mx. Granny (e/em):

<3
Avatar 10:57am Honeybear:

Just tuning in... ironically after doing a search for Harold Budd tracks
Avatar 10:58am Stork:

Do you have to be on Insta to see it, DocJ?
Avatar 10:59am Stork:

Love love love this piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Jeff Golick:

Welcome, @Honeybear. Google knows all, I guess.
Avatar 11:04am StringOFperils:

No D or O in aggravation, so I will leave that at the door for a while. Peace everybody.
Avatar 11:06am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hullo Hullo
...coming with 'the simple air of failure'... How is everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am doctorjazz:

Stork, I'm not sure, I tried on my phone to see if I could view it as a web page, but it just takes right to the Instagram app. I think you can see the Facebook and Twitter posts without belonging to those sites, just as web pages, but we're past my computer/internet pay grade.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am doctorjazz:

Hi RRN3!
Avatar 11:08am Stork:

I've heard you gotta be an on Insta to see anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Uncle Michael:

I'm positive about breakfast.
Avatar 11:09am Listener Gregory:

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
You are a child of the universe.
No less than the trees and the stars, you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
--Just some thoughts I had.
Avatar 11:09am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

May there ever be DO for Sunday A.M.s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Jeff Golick:

@StringOFperils! Bring whatever you like; we can handle it.

@Revolution Rabbit Nov63! Hanging in there; you?
Avatar 11:11am Stork:

His Royal Umness alights from his carriage!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Jeff Golick:

Tyranny is improvising this piano btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Uncle Michael:

Stork, I'm immune to flattery, but please...don't stop on my account.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Jeff Golick:

@Uncle Michael! What is for breakfast?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Uncle Michael:

Brioche French toast with Bananas Foster topping and bacon.

I'm in a coma.
Avatar 11:14am TDK60:

I'm having breakfast too. That weird synchronicity thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Jeff Golick:

Suddenly my bagel unfreezing itself in the toaster doesn't look so good.
Avatar 11:15am Listener Gregory:

@Uncle Michael, I just discovered that "comatic" is the adjectival form of "coma." It could come in very handy... comatic election, comatic breakfast, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Jeff Golick:

Comatic populace...
Avatar 11:16am Stork:

Yes, Your Hinky Dinky-sty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Comatic Uncle:

You have access to proper bagels. Don't sell them short.
Avatar 11:16am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...leave it to UM to brioche the subject...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am doctorjazz:

We had Home made latkes and brisket last night, followed by donuts, similarly coma inducing.
(Been thinking about the requests, UM. The problem is, of course, once I start, the list becomes very long, and getting it to one of tough).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am chresti:

I'm having cafe mocha, 2 or 3 of 'em, for breakfast.
\\ //TDK60
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Jeff Golick:

Homemade latkes take a lot of work, I tip my hat, @doc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Uncle Michael:

chresti, we start every single morning with cappuccinos.
Avatar 11:18am TDK60:

Hi Chresti, \\ //. I'm having potatoes, eggs, onions, garlic -fried in olive oil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am WR:

I'm gonna have a cafe mocha for dessert after I finish my soba lunch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Uncle Michael:

You can do it, Doc. I've only got about 20% of the requests I'll need.
Avatar 11:19am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& I was just thinking leftover mac & marinara ftw ...I do have some looseleaf chai goin' on tho'...
Avatar 11:21am hyde:

i just read that in Baltimore there's a business called Pork 'n Pine that will have Santa on a bike deliver you an Xmas tree and a bag of pulled pork sandwiches
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am WR:

Jeff @11:11, ah wasn't going to complain about Ashley being in the set but was looking for the why.
  11:21am mauri:

this is great!
  11:21am Doug Schulkind:

Epic show thus far, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am doctorjazz:

@Jeffg, the hat tip goes to Rebecca, who's become a bit of a chef now that there's no acting work out there. The eating part was nothing, really.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am doctorjazz:

Amen to Doud @11:21!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am doctorjazz:

*Doug...
Avatar 11:24am Listener Gregory:

"His sense of now is rusty." Words we can all empathize with now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am alanr:

I have to find the video I shot of Ashley in the early 90s when he did "The Story of Ketchup" at a new music festival in Cleveland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Jeff Golick:

Thanks, @Doug; wish it wasn't spurred by sad occasions.
Avatar 11:26am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Not into Xmas or meat @ all - but 'Pork & Pine' hehe...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Jeff Golick:

I'm dropping some images of book pages in the playlist -- not sure of a better way to do it. Segments of a wonderful interview Tyranny did with Wm Duckworth in 1994, published as the collection Talking Music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am doctorjazz:

Whenever a DJ plays a set by one musician these days, I have to Google and see if they've passed away. Sucks.
Avatar 11:28am Listener Gregory:

Just discovered I have an Ashley LP with another part of Perfect Lives... and Blue Gene plays on that one too! So, stop calling me a loser!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am chresti:

doc, your daughter is funny and beautiful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am doctorjazz:

Awwww, thanks, Chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am doctorjazz:

I like these Trust In Rock tracks, but they do sound like they were recorded with a towel over the microphone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Jeff Golick:

Yeah, not recorded for any planned release, I don't think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am chresti:

It sounds like was recorded on a portable tape recorder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am chresti:

*it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am doctorjazz:

An audience taping, perhaps?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am chresti:

Listener Gregory wins!
  11:42am Dean:

The building where Trust in Rock was recorded has been shuttered for a few years, the museum having moved across campus closer to downtown. I heard the Residents in the old space not long before it closed due to seismic issues.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Uncle Michael:

Sounds like Rerun recording the Doobie Brothers.
Avatar 11:43am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Just part of the ambience - tho' one wants to take an EQ to it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Jeff Golick:

Was wondering if these Berkeley doings would bring you out, @Dean. Hi there.
Avatar 11:46am Listener Gregory:

@chresti, thanks. However, I'm beginning to think maybe everyone wasn't laughing at me behind my back after all. Or so my therapist tells me.
Avatar 11:48am Listener Gregory:

I am enjoying this a great deal, but I wonder if "your new concept in music" is an apt description.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am doctorjazz:

LG, perish the thought, always look forward to your comments!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Jeff Golick:

I think that might be meant archly, @LG.
Avatar 11:48am TDK60:

Avant gardists arrive at Little Richard?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Jeff Golick:

I mean, Tyranny played with Iggy & the Stooges on tour in '73, so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am doctorjazz:

Dean, jealous you got to see The Residents. I think they were actually touring before The Lock Down, one day maybe still get to catch them.
Avatar 11:51am TDK60:

Ah, Small World Dept. again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Jeff Golick:

Wipe your shoes on the mat, then enter the Stork Club here: wfmu.org... -- top of the hour.
Avatar 11:53am Listener Gregory:

Jeff, I'm totally post-ironic now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Jeff Golick:

One would think the giant eyeballs could work in lieu of masks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am chresti:

They certainly had stamina!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am doctorjazz:

Loved the show, Jeff (disappointed you can't clicky star it again once you've already clicky starred it), Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Uncle Michael:

When I saw them in the mid-'90s one of the eyeballs had been stolen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Jeff Golick:

Ironic sans, you might say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am chresti:

*@On The Other Hand.
  11:54am Dean:

Saw the Mole Show at the Roxy in Hollywood long ago, too, doc.

I found the ads for this show in the Daily Cal. No follow-up review, though.
Avatar 11:55am Listener Gregory:

Jeff, you are a font of wit!
Avatar 11:55am hyde:

@UM yeah, i saw them around that time too
Avatar 11:56am hyde:

thanks for the show!
  11:56am Dean:

I guess it was Oct. '82 for the Roxy show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Uncle Michael:

Thank you, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am chresti:

For some reason, I was unawares of the Residents until like 15 years or so ago.
Avatar 11:57am Listener Gregory:

Well, at least it's not the damned flute. Thanks for a superb show, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am listener james from westwood:

Thanks, Jeff, this was a sweet cruise.
Avatar 11:58am TDK60:

Thanks Jeff. I will go to Brooklyn again someday.
Avatar 11:58am Sem:

Thank you, Jeff, for the pleasure of your musical choices, and the company you keep. Later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am doctorjazz:

Third Reich and Roll caught my attention.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am chresti:

Thanks Jeff! Always a pleasure to have multiple mocha lattes with you.
Avatar 11:58am StringOFperils:

Thank you, Jeff.
  11:59am Dean:

I think I first learned about them via a review of Fingerprince in ... Back Door Man?

That Duckworth book is a lot of fun. Great roster of musicians interviewed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Stanley:

Listened, no chat today.
Great stuff, Jeff, thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am WR:
