Avatar 12:10pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Franco Twinkie:

Good morning all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Jan Turkenburg:

Wow, thanks PK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Franco!
Avatar 12:12pm Paper Kosmonaut:

it's part of a larger photo session. I described them for the regional archives, that's why I knew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Franco Twinkie:

That is a great picture of Wally. I guess the guy was swimming in it from an early age.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Jan Turkenburg:

aha, are you a specialist on pop music history in Groningen, PK?
Avatar 12:16pm Paper Kosmonaut:

No, it's one of the over 250.000 photos belonging to an archive of press photos made by a photojournalist bureau in Groningen. It also contains regular press events like fires, accidents and duivenmelkers die hun 50 jarig jublieum vieren.
Avatar 12:17pm Paper Kosmonaut:

But we do have a special pop archive inside the regional archives: www.poparchiefgroningen.nl
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Jan Turkenburg:

Owww... thanks! That needs some exploration from my part :-)
Avatar 12:24pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Jan, your microphone seems to distort a little. Perhaps a volume issue?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Jan Turkenburg:

I think so, I have turned it down. I saw it too late. Thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Lizardner Dave !:

Hi everyone, sorry I'm late. Work is a distraction and I was also looking out the window at the first snowfall of the season in the NYC area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm notsoKWYET:

This voice reminds me a bit of Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Dave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Jan Turkenburg:

Funny you say that, notsoKWYET, there will be some JC Superstar references coming up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Jan, hope you are having a groovy day!
Avatar 1:01pm Domenic:

Been thinking about the "mountain situation".....How is Belgium getting along with the former colonies in Africa? Maybe you could borrow a few?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Jan Turkenburg:

haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Jan Turkenburg:

I wouldn't want to live in one of their former colonies right now...
Avatar 1:03pm Paper Kosmonaut:

We even used to have a volcano! Krakatoa in Indonesia.
Avatar 1:04pm Domenic:

I blame the Dutch for that volcano exploding....maybe they don't deserve mountains....;')
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Jan Turkenburg:

LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

Just made it in time for the second hour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 1:15pm worldsworstrecords:

Hi everyone... sorry I'm late!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Mr Fab:

Hey Jan! Great cover of "Hosanna." I like most everything from "Jeezuz Christ Superspreader".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Darryl, just in time for De Bietels!
Avatar 1:16pm worldsworstrecords:

yay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Mr Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Mr Fab:

Damn, I missed Wally Tax. Play it again, Jan!
Avatar 1:18pm worldsworstrecords:

I bet The Butterflies were good... I'll have to catch that in the archive later
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Jan Turkenburg:

There will be more in the future, Mr Fab. I've been digging into his work and I discovered that I didn't know his best work yet. Now I do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Jan Turkenburg:

Of course we've heard him lots of times here as singer of The Outsiders, but his solo work was something completely different.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Mr Fab:

Glad to hear that, Jan!

I learned about Wally from the great Boston garage rock revivers The Lyres. Their leader Jeff Connolly is a big fan, not only covering "Touch" but getting Tax to perform on it with him. How an American band in the '80s learned about him, I have no idea...
Avatar 1:24pm worldsworstrecords:

YAY!
Avatar 1:27pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Grunnens pride. Rodys!
Avatar 1:29pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Oh, that Dutch Beatles lyrics-book is so immensely funny and well-written.
  1:30pm captain mike:

Jimi Hendrix dug the Taxman(Wally) too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm notsoKWYET:

WHAT A JAM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Franco Twinkie:

We went over this before Fab, but The Lyres were one of those bands held in high regard, and believe me, by that time I was kind of burnt around the edges. But they could do it to me! I walked through the snow to see them play at Maxwells, and I'd do it again, no hesitation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi captain mike!
Avatar 1:34pm Paper Kosmonaut:

all things considered I personally think Bettie Serveert is the Shocking Blue of the 90s-00s.
  1:34pm captain mike:

Hi Jan! To all those Lyre-O-Philes out there Ever wonder why the Lyres have had so many band members?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Jan Turkenburg:

I can't disagree with that PK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Jan Turkenburg:

I'm not a Lyres specialist, so tell us cm!
Avatar 1:36pm Paper Kosmonaut:

eveyone wanted to be a member but they just had room for five?
  1:36pm captain mike:

Monoman can be completely batshit crazy on occasion!
Avatar 1:37pm Paper Kosmonaut:

I agree, there are a couple of bad ones in the beatles-book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

Looking forward to Elva!
Avatar 1:39pm worldsworstrecords:

aww! Thanks for the plug Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm notsoKWYET:

YES YES YES... love this !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes, The Lyres album that features Wally Tax doing Touch has a Pete Frame breakdown in the gatefold and it alludes to some... um, erratic behavior.
  1:45pm captain mike:

Really enjoying your show Jan Howzabout a Nederbeat themed show in the future? I had a fantastic comp of that stuff back in the day Love to hear more Cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Jan Turkenburg:

Then we will do that, captain mike. This show existence is based on requests from listeners and DJs so one day I'll play nederbeat untill it comes your nose out! ;-)
  1:49pm captain mike:

You are a gentleman and a music scholar Jan
Avatar 1:51pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Me too, I am not dirty from some Nederbeat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Jan Turkenburg:

:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm notsoKWYET:

OOOO yes
Avatar 1:57pm worldsworstrecords:

Thanks for another great show, Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm notsoKWYET:

great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Franco Twinkie:

This is fantastic!
Avatar 1:58pm Paper Kosmonaut:
