Hi Kitten!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Rich in Washington:

Oy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

Cookin' with Cook Kitten!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Rich in Washington:

Is this for GIVING you a tension headache?
Avatar 3:04pm Kitten Sparkles:

Ha, Rich - exactly what one might assume! One that isn't Emory Cook!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

I turned on/off the power of my sound card, thinking it was going crazy again. Ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Rich in Washington:

Oh. I get it.
Avatar 3:06pm Kitten Sparkles:

There are other titles in this series - one is "Children's Music" - another is "Cocktail Music". I think this Spanish guitar balladeeere is famous; I forget who it is. Paco De Lucia or soebody similar...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Rich in Washington:

I'll bet Emory Cook was deaf in his left ear.
Avatar 3:07pm Kitten Sparkles:

I'll start collaging stuff w this soon - but the whole lp is like this! Jesus and Mary Chain's inspiration, perhaps?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm HyperDose:

I'm definitely hearing some Animal Collective in this
Avatar 3:09pm Kitten Sparkles:

More of tat album later - we're on a street car, now! Or were...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Carmichael:

Hi Kitty and sparklers.
Avatar 3:10pm Kitten Sparkles:

Mostly staying abstract today - coming up are some Noah Creshevsky and Roland Kayn things
Avatar 3:11pm Kitten Sparkles:

Oh, Hi there! Can chat more today cuz long pieces and an old Glossolalia collage or two.
  3:15pm Kornsnot:

Hello love!
Avatar 3:16pm Kitten Sparkles:

Hey, Kornsnott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Rich in Washington:

This is lovely, Mr. Sparkles.
Avatar 3:20pm Cp304:

Yeah this is nice
Avatar 3:20pm Kitten Sparkles:

Might play a little Michael Tyrone Boyd later... He used to be featured on David Liebe Hart's "Jr Christian Science Bible Lesson Show" on public access, the he got his own show. "Unique" guitar tunings...
Avatar 3:21pm Kitten Sparkles:

Thanks! tis is from an old Glossolalia show
Avatar 3:21pm Kitten Sparkles:

Live on KXLU, 2003
Avatar 3:22pm Kitten Sparkles:

There's some fucked up low frequency stuff in a while...
  3:23pm Cheree July:

I'm off today from my essential job, so I actually get to hang out here & listen to this show. Yay!👍
Avatar 3:26pm Kitten Sparkles:

Listening to this show should be an essential job!
Avatar 3:27pm Kitten Sparkles:

That silence was a lot longer on the original show - that was the one thing I edited for this one. I let it be dead air for like 30 loooong seconds...
Avatar 3:28pm Sem:

Headphones essential.
Tearing it up, is VIA.
Avatar 3:29pm Kitten Sparkles:

A pretty taboo thing to do on live radio! I got a few worried calls.
Avatar 3:29pm Kitten Sparkles:

Where silence is transgressive
Avatar 3:32pm Kitten Sparkles:

I actually have no idea what I did on this collage, for the most part - street car, SFX lps, a Musique Concret thing w way too much french guy talking (the French love to hear french guys talking, evidently), and some kinda frequency thing... noy sure iif it's a radio or a weird synth type device. Long time ago.
Avatar 3:33pm Kitten Sparkles:

But it was me solo w no Professor C, so there's nobody to ask. Oh well.
  3:33pm Cheree July:

Agreed!
Avatar 3:34pm Kitten Sparkles:

Watch out - low freq weirdness!
Avatar 3:35pm Debbie Davenport:

I love hearing the technical details behind what we're listening to.
Avatar 3:36pm Debbie Davenport:

Not haring those details, but reading them!
Avatar 3:37pm Kitten Sparkles:

Wish I remembered more of em, but I'm really not sure how I did this bit. I think something to do w radio... like maybe tuning a side band of the station signal to where it did weird shit. I did that a lot on these shows. Sometimes cool stuff would happen
Avatar 3:38pm Kitten Sparkles:

Mixing the station signal into the mix and tweaking it while on the air did this kind of stuff sometimes.
Avatar 3:39pm Kitten Sparkles:

How'd that fly get in here?
Avatar 3:42pm Kitten Sparkles:

Yeah, sounds like radio frequency fuckedness going on
Avatar 3:45pm Kitten Sparkles:

Noah Creshevsky "Celebration" after a brief reprise of White Sound 99
Avatar 3:46pm Kitten Sparkles:

Wow - seems like I've driven both listeners away!
Avatar 3:48pm Kitten Sparkles:

Oh, shit - here's the "walking thru the Vegas casinos" tapes again! I remember playing those on this show now. That's some crazy shit, right there.
Avatar 3:48pm Kitten Sparkles:

Thanks to Professor C for being brave enough to do that.
Avatar 3:49pm Debbie Davenport:

It is and I didn't know the information about the casinos. Key of C?
Avatar 3:49pm Kitten Sparkles:

They threw him out of one casino when they figured out what he was doing.
Avatar 3:49pm Kitten Sparkles:

Yeah, no sharps or flats
Avatar 3:51pm Debbie Davenport:

You'd never drive me away if you're talking about me as a listener. I struggle to know how to talk about some of this stuff and do more listening at times.
Avatar 3:51pm Kitten Sparkles:

Ever read Sirens of Titan? It's how I imagine the Harmoniums in the cave sounded. I think that was Sirens of Titan... read all his books around that same time, 7th and 8th grades
Avatar 3:51pm Debbie Davenport:

OH cool. No I haven't read them.
Avatar 3:52pm Kitten Sparkles:

Kurt Vonnegut
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Rich in Washington:

I love that book. I am due to reread it again.
Avatar 3:56pm Doop:

you can pick up some bizarre sounds on WebSDR.org shortwave radio
Avatar 3:58pm StringOFperils:

@ Doop > Thank you for the link...and hello DB et al (while I'm here yammering)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Rich in Washington:

Oh yeah. that site's fantastic. I was recently going through some older radio collages I've done and remembered that I used to use the online version of the 435 Ham repeater out of LA quite a bit. It was a lively hubub of radio jammer troll activity.
Avatar 3:59pm Kitten Sparkles:

I'll for sure be checking that out! Thanks! Got a ne shortwave antenna, and am repairing my old tube SW radios hopefuly by early next year...
  3:59pm Kornsnot:

I’m still here 💗
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Rich in Washington:

SDR stuff is fun! No radio needed. You can sure find some strange noises. dAS from Big City Orchestra turned me onto that site.
Avatar 4:00pm Doop:

far out! enjoy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Rich in Washington:

I think you'd really dig it, Kitten.
Avatar 4:01pm Mr Fab:

Yo Mr Sparkles! I was going thru on old hard drive yesterday and found an album by your old cohost Professor Cantaloupe that I forget existed- “Space Snacks.” I believe you are in there too somewhere?
Avatar 4:04pm ironybread:

Wow, so cool about websdr.org - I've owned actual shortwave radios before, even have an old one in the apartment now, and I'll be damned if I can ever get a signal on one
Avatar 4:04pm Kitten Sparkles:

Yay!
Avatar 4:05pm Kitten Sparkles:

oops - internet cable came out for a second or two...
Avatar 4:05pm ironybread:

Didn't notice a thing!
Avatar 4:06pm Debbie Davenport:

Me either
Avatar 4:06pm Kitten Sparkles:

Oh, good...
Avatar 4:06pm Kitten Sparkles:

I caught it pretty quickly.
Avatar 4:07pm Kitten Sparkles:

Best Creshevsky piece I know of.
Avatar 4:08pm Kitten Sparkles:

Kayn on the way...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Rich in Washington:

That was fantastic!
Avatar 4:11pm Kitten Sparkles:

roland Kayn - Sound Hydra now
Avatar 4:14pm Kitten Sparkles:

Another Creshevsky piece on Opus 1 after this.
Avatar 4:14pm Kitten Sparkles:

"Broadcast" - also not on youtube, like Celebration
Avatar 4:15pm Kitten Sparkles:

Some of this later Kayn stuff is incredible.
Avatar 4:17pm Kitten Sparkles:

This is my late homage to Bandcamp Day. This and some other amazing late period Kayn things are on Bandcamp
Avatar 4:22pm Mr Fab:

i am to Bandcamp what the normals are to Spotify. Such a great site.
Avatar 4:23pm ironybread:

Lots of gigantic Roland Kayn multi-LP sets in his discography in the 1970s/1980s, all going for damned $hundreds today. KittenSparkles, do you know if the many items I see on the Reiger-records-reeks label starting in 1995 are reissues of some of that old work? Would love to hear all that old vinyl but I've got no nil nada disposable income these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm chresti:

Hi Kitten and fantastic sparklers!
Avatar 4:26pm Debbie Davenport:

Chresti! Hello :)
Avatar 4:26pm Kitten Sparkles:

I have all the original Kayn vinyl, incl all the box sets, except Simultan, which I have on that Jim O'Rourke remastered reissue. Unfortunately side 3 of that reissue has weird bubbles all over it.... But yeah, Original Simultan is always #1 on my X-mas wish list! Very few shopping days left, (hint hint)
Avatar 4:27pm Kitten Sparkles:

Hey, Chresti
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm chresti:

Hi Debbie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm chresti:

Just got home from work..
Avatar 4:29pm ironybread:

I keep hearing tone clusters in here that I swear I've heard in John Oswald's "Rainbow"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Rich in Washington:

Hi chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Carmichael:

Off to a meeting. Keep being spacy.
Avatar 4:31pm Kitten Sparkles:

Bring a speaker and share with your meeting cohorts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm chresti:

See ya Carmichael.
Avatar 4:35pm Kitten Sparkles:

Hope nobody is offended by todays almost totally abstract playlist.
Avatar 4:36pm Sem:

Lovin' it.
Avatar 4:36pm Kitten Sparkles:

@Ironybread - don't know that Oswald piece.
Avatar 4:36pm Cp304:

im diggin it, it really made doin the dishes go by
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm WR:

Ah, just connected. What a relief, lovely sounds for me to lunch to.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm chresti:

No complaints here.
Avatar 4:46pm Kitten Sparkles:

Cool. Still Roland Kayn's Sound Hydra
Avatar 4:46pm Debbie Davenport:

No complaints here either.
Avatar 4:49pm Debbie Davenport:

I am flashing back to being 18 in Los Angeles and thinking about how this kind of stuff used to sort of scare me then.
Avatar 4:50pm Domenic:

Its beautiful.
Avatar 4:56pm Kitten Sparkles:

Kayn is the shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Carmichael:

OK, back. There is a backhoe working literally 5 feet from me, on the other side of my office window.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Ossie Oswald:

I used to spend summers at my grandparent's at the coast and my grandpa was a radio nut who'd have his scanner radio on all day, and if there was some kind of calamity, he'd throw us in the car and we'd go rubbernecking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Ossie Oswald:

He was a retired newspaper photographer, so his excuse was he'd take pictures for the beach town's little newspaper.
Avatar 5:04pm Kitten Sparkles:

This is Noah Creshevsky
Avatar 5:05pm Domenic:

@carmichael.. the backhoe music must be an interesting counterpoint to what's playing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Ossie Oswald:

This is wonderful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Carmichael:

Talk about Metal Machine Music ...
Avatar 5:17pm StringOFperils:

In this time-zone, this is a pre-supper bliss-out.
Avatar 5:25pm Kitten Sparkles:

There's a little bit of early Kluster and some Ca in this collage, as I recall...also Pythagoron, LaMonte Young, and some SFX lps.
Avatar 5:25pm Cp304:

sometimes when Im washing bowls in the sink it sort of sounds like the bongos in the predator movie
Avatar 5:28pm Kitten Sparkles:

Can. oopsies
Avatar 5:29pm Kitten Sparkles:

This collage goes almost til the end of the show, but I'll try to fit a little Michael Tyrone Boyd in if theres time.
Avatar 5:30pm Kitten Sparkles:

If not, there's always next week!
Avatar 5:30pm Kitten Sparkles:

This is Kluster rn
Avatar 5:32pm Kitten Sparkles:

either Klopf Zeichen or Zvei Osterei
Avatar 5:32pm Kitten Sparkles:

One of the first 2 lps, w Conrad Schnitzler
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm chresti:

Velly nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm Carmichael:

Schnitzler is a fave of mine, along with Youngs.
Avatar 5:51pm Kitten Sparkles:

I got to jam w Schnitzler once on an internet radio show I used to do in the late 90s/early 00s, on Spike Radio. Station sucked, but there were some cool things on it. Conrad sent me some CDs of sounds he made for the "jam" on a synth (unfortunately an 80s or later synth that sounds totally digital), and I talked to him via phone here and there during the show. Was a blast, I mixed in lots of weird shit so his digital synth stuff sounded less ike it sounded, and that was gonna be what I did anyway - live collage with his shit mixed in from those CDRs. I still have em..
Avatar 5:51pm Kitten Sparkles:

One of them is an audio letter from he Himself!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm WR:

Lunch over but tasty sounds continuing. Just realized that I haven't listened in over a month, so I have some catch up listening to do.
Avatar 5:52pm Kitten Sparkles:

This is a bedroom tape I made at home in my spare time
Avatar 5:53pm Kitten Sparkles:

Then this collage ends w Can from Tago Mago..
Avatar 5:57pm Cp304:

whatever is triggering my sub makes it sound like fed ex truck pulling into driveway
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Carmichael:

@Cp, I think it's the backhoe out my window.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Rich in Washington:

You can't go wrong with Can.
Avatar 5:58pm Sem:

Wow. To it all. Seeya later.
Avatar 5:59pm ironybread:

Ah, the 1980s, an awkward time for synths...DX7...Ensoniq Mirage...yet a time of great help to high school choirs putting on productions of Gilbert & Sullivan
Avatar 5:59pm StringOFperils:

Thanks for the sound collage art, dB. It made my afternoon...better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Rich in Washington:

Thanks, Mr. Kitten Sparkles!
Avatar 6:01pm Doop:

good show today!
Avatar 6:01pm Debbie Davenport:

Thank you Kitten Sparkles!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm chresti:

Thanks for the fantastic sparkles, Kitten!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm WR:

Thank you for the sounds.
Avatar 6:02pm Kitten Sparkles:

My pleasure, as always. Thank YOU GUISE! for glistening! Michael Tyrone Boyd is gonna have to wait til next week! I just wish there was video.
