Hi Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Nate K.:

Hi, Jan. Thanks for dropping by.
Avatar 11:11am Mr Fab:

This old school Hawaiian gee-tar sound is so cool. “hula jazz,” one might call it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Jan Turkenburg:

I won't be on the chat all the time, but I'm listening while cooking and eating (it's 5:10 pm overhere) Sounds like the perfect soundtrack!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am chresti:

Aloha! Sounds good, Nate!
Avatar 11:15am solo mon:

Ello hay! Alo hay!
Avatar 11:15am Mr Fab:

What does the offended tiki say to the rude tiki? “Hula hell do you think you are?!” (Sorry)
Avatar 11:16am solo mon:

Sun Ra - this is the best.
Avatar 11:25am Domenic:

Hi! Will in and out.... Nate K Welcome... Just checked you profile... www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 11:26am solo mon:

Aloha Nate K!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Nate K.:

Hello, everyone just joining us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am The Oscar:

Morning! Never heard this Don Telling, but I LOVE this.
Avatar 11:39am Mr Fab:

Was very intrigued by that description of Mike Cooper as “experimental tropical,” I look him up, and a 2018 release of his features artwork by WFMU’s own Evan “Flashstrap” Crankshaw!
Avatar 11:41am Domenic:

Les Masques Il Faut Tenir .. lovely! Glad your not doing the strictly "exotica" set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Nate K.:

@Domenic, of no, faaaar from it. I'll be moving in and out.
  11:44am Martinibomb:

  11:56am Martinibomb:

@gran if u have a pc visual pinball is free and really fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Mx. Granny (e/em):

@MB: Dana makes a buncha tracks on request. That's one of her passionate services. That's why there are so many Eno tracks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am notsoKWYET:

Agreed re: Addams Family!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am ARB:

I like Quintrons frog record, I used to be his neighbor and enjoyed all the same frogs. Aloha Nate K!
  11:57am Martinibomb:

addams family is great and I think the game they made the most of in pinball history
  11:58am Bubba:

Maui Wowie all the way!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Mx. Granny (e/em):

  11:58am Martinibomb:

this is a really good set today @nate
Avatar 11:59am solo mon:

Yes granny! that’s what I requested- burning airlines by eno I’m soooooo excited to karaoke that song
Avatar 12:00pm Mr Fab:

When my daughter was a toddler she liked this version of “Babalu.” She called it “the balloon song.”
Avatar 12:01pm solo mon:

There was a pinball game called “construction time” or something like that that I really loved playing back in the live pinball days.
  12:02pm Bubba:

This is ym dad's favorite song!
  12:03pm Bubba:

  12:03pm Martinibomb:

@solo I think you're thinking of "Road Show"
  12:04pm Bubba:

I prefer Moon River but Perfidia is a close second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Nate K.:

Have you ever played the Twilight Zone game? Only played it a couple times, but I recall really liking the special features on that one. Two different balls that responded differently to the other features . . . or something like that
  12:07pm Martinibomb:

Twilight Zone is my #1 fave so far
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

Aloha and Afternoon Nate!
  12:07pm Martinibomb:

it's really hard but in a good way
Avatar 12:08pm Mr Fab:

“Perfidia” is def a beloved standard, I’m sure there are a number of versions in the Sheena stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm WR:

Please pardon me for listening without saying hello. Hello. Or rather Aloha.
Avatar 12:09pm Mr Fab:

Helloha, WR!
Avatar 12:12pm Domenic:

Slim Gaillard was amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

cute trivia that ties the themes togerther—my first date with Dana was at a pinball arcade!
Avatar 12:14pm solo mon:

Granny! Cute :-) pinball cha cha
Avatar 12:15pm solo mon:

I like twilight zone pinball a lot. One of the best! Also one called “magic show” I think has similar kinds of specialty actions
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

Dana is so in love with Simpsons Pinball Party, she used to OWN one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Funhouse:

Ping Pong
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

  12:23pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm swivs:

ME biquitous? No, YOU biquitous!
Avatar 12:26pm Mr Fab:

You bick wit’ us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm notsoKWYET:

I have zero of those things
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm notsoKWYET:

i am in love with both the simpsons pinball and the simpsons in general
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

I had a zombie once in Seattle years back. Just once. Bartender at a themed cocktail party. It made my younger self and thinking Long Island Ice Teas were powerful, pfffttt, made those seem like sipping Boones Farm in a Slurpee cup a few years previous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm WR:

Repeat that recipe? I do have two kinds of Cuban rum...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm notsoKWYET:

holy shit -- i had no idea she was on letterman --- just looked that up - will watch later!
Avatar 12:29pm Mr Fab:

Thanks for the tip on that book, looks like it just came out:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm notsoKWYET:

It was like 1.5 shot cuban rum, 0.5 over proof puerto rican rum, cinnamon syrup, lime and white grapefruit juice
Avatar 12:31pm Mr Fab:

This was th first time I heard Yma. Blew my li’l mind. Eventually found a good, cheap copy of “Voice of the Xtabay,” one of the first “strange” albums i ever bought.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Nate K.:

WR: 1 oz Jamaican rum, 1/2 oz aged PR overproof, 1/2 oz cinnamon syrup, 1 oz white grapefruit juice, 1/2 oz lime juice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

You know, I think I also had a Zombie at Toronto's
Shameful Tiki in 2018... but can't remember exactly, a few drinks that night, but one is on the menu there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm notsoKWYET:

Otis -- I love the shameful tiki --- i Actually live about a 2 minute walk from a place called The Shore Leave --- which was much more of a comfortable more dive tiki bar but it shut down.. which was so sad... It was the first place I ever dj'ed live
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

Only been once with pals when visiting in 2018. Dropping a link here so others can see this gem of a place. Location in Vancouver too, but have not visited the OG spot there, shamefultikiroom.com
Avatar 12:36pm Mr Fab:

All stand for the national anthem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

MB: we went to Free Gold Watch near Haight St. It's really a print studio, but they have tons of pinball machines in great condition!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Nate K.:

Had to play at least one version!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

Nate: you have appeased the guardians of exotica
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

I love menus like this - shamefultikiroom.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

now if that pinball place had also been tiki!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

i always keep a cocktail menu from The Tonga Room in my kitchen.
Avatar 12:39pm Mr Fab:

Looks like a great spot, but why shameful? I’d be proud to be a tiki!
Avatar 12:42pm Ursula1000:

Meka leka hi meka hiney ho!
Avatar 12:42pm Mr Fab:

I am shocked by how good Cutwater’s canned “Tiki Rum Mai Tai” is. Making a good mai-tai is hard enough, but in a can?! Improbable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm WR:

This Robert Drasnin, sounds like Zappa lifted a lot from this.
Avatar 12:43pm Mr Fab:

They come in a four-pack. But are so potent you probably won’t want more then one at a time.
Avatar 12:45pm Mr Fab:

Interesting WR, any Zappa track in particular?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Nate K.:

Mr. Fab, the Mai Tai is the only Cutwater I really liked, which is surprising given, as you pint out, how tough they are to make in general.
Avatar 12:46pm Constance De Witt:

Hello, I have heard there is a delicious menu here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm WR:

Humming the Zappa, there are words about prunes. Book marking for future comparison. I am supposed to be working now.
Avatar 12:48pm Mr Fab:

Welcome, Constance! Something off our pu-pu platter, perhaps?
Avatar 12:49pm Constance De Witt:

Hello, Mr. Fab! A pu-pu platter for two, please.
Avatar 12:49pm Leland Meadows:

Ask for the Zombie Constance. After, join us in the back alley behind Trader Vics, we are all sipping off canned Mai Tais.
  12:52pm Space cowboy:

I don't have a reservation. Can I will be seated?
Avatar 12:53pm Mr Fab:

Be careful, or John Waters will offer you a poo-poo platter.
Avatar 12:54pm Constance De Witt:

I barely know this man, and already he invites me in the back alley, that doesn't bode well. I'll stay inside, sipping on my Pink Squirrel, thank you.
Avatar 12:56pm Mr Fab:

Space Cowboy, astronauts need no reservation. Just lift up your face mask on your helmet before drinking. There have been some embarrassing incidents (e.g. when Mr Aldrin gets “buzzed”)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm notsoKWYET:

The fact we got to Jackie Gleason shows how amazing this playlist is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm notsoKWYET:

I listen to Jackie Gleason every single day
Avatar 12:57pm Constance De Witt:

notso: I agree with you, I can't get enough of Jackie!
Avatar 12:58pm Mr Fab:

With that Salvador Dali cover.
Avatar 12:58pm StringOFperils:

Is this The Torch already?
Avatar 12:58pm Leland Meadows:

Friday is for Jackie and Lovers.
Avatar 1:02pm Leland Meadows:

Caught Drasnin in Seattle in 2000 with Skip, good times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

I was there too Leland!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Nate K.:

notsoKWET, thanks! I'm having fun.
Avatar 1:06pm StringOFperils:

Burning it down.
Avatar 1:12pm StringOFperils:

Wacks before the Brazilian. Aloha.
Avatar 1:25pm Mr Fab:

Mrs Fab says Dennis was "the cute one."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Nate K.:

Skipped Harold Kelling in the back announce. That was the instrumental after Steve Miller if you're curious.
  1:39pm Martinibomb:

really really good solid set today @Nate K
Avatar 1:44pm StringOFperils:

re. Zombie > French lesson for today....
Crème de Péché (sic) (pr. PESH-AY)= Cream of SIN :)
Crème de Pêche (pr. PESH) = cream of peach (liqueur)
Avatar 1:46pm StringOFperils:

Maybe cream of sin is what you want in a zombie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Nate K.:

Thanks @Martinibomb. I've really enjoyed doing this.
Avatar 1:46pm Sonderangebot:

String, I was thinking the same thing, but Crème de Péché is much more enticing.
Avatar 1:49pm Domenic:

This Jack Nietzsche track is so neat and dramatic....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks Nate! (and bye everybody!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Nate K.:

@String of Pearls, thanks! It's cream "pesh" for the Missionary's Downfall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Nate K.:

Later, Jan!
Avatar 1:52pm BC Sterrett:

good Night Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm ɹǝppoɟ sıʇo:

Fantastic selection today Nate. Real nice to have DJs from other streams step into Sheenas.

See you all tomorrow, I'm off to see a man about a horse.
Avatar 1:54pm StringOFperils:

Ha ha, no problem, Nate. I got a chuckle out of that. (I think I'll pass on the drink recipe tho; that has Missionary's Upchuck written all over it where I'm concerned.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm chresti:

Thanks Nate K!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm notsoKWYET:

Thanks for a great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Nate K.:

Thanks, everybody! It was my pleasure.
Avatar 1:55pm Mr Fab:

That French horn at the end of “Lonely Surfer” kills me every time.
Avatar 1:55pm Domenic:

Thanks for doing a set on Sheena Nate K. Some WFMU cross-pollination.
Avatar 1:55pm StringOFperils:

Ah, thought this sounded like Will Oldham's voice. Guess I'll say thanks right here, so I can stop clogging up the chat. Thanks!!
Avatar 1:58pm Mr Fab:

This has been a tiki-tastic show, Nate! You are welcome back any time for a Part 2.
Avatar 1:59pm Mr Fab:

Now let's head on over here, shall we?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm WR:
