Planetwatcher there is for everywhere. If we cast the Chart of Now for a specific Place then it could have a Rising Sign & Houses - & would be different @ different locations. But these planetary positions & aspects (angles between them) would be the same.

There's something about the combination of (relative) obscurity and fixed-schedule format (behind cinephobe.tv) - so when something comes up that piques your interest, it's like "now or (probably) never" - therefore, you just have to watch it!

This is why I donate $$$ to WFMU: to hear a DJ say "I don't know the name of that song and I don't know the name of the album. It's just off of some cassette." I'm being serious when I say I love it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
Blacktooth:

Seriously JJ: not trying to be mean. I'm just speaking to the overall "randomness" of sounds that come from this radio station. It's what I genuinely respect. So much diversity and deep-crate-digging that we get into the outer realms. Where even proper documentation of the sounds starts to trail off.

Watched the Zappa doc on friday with my parents, my dad was a fan in college, fun to share with them, I really enjoyed it and it has had me going through his music all weekend. Had some great jamming late last night to Joes Garage.

I was briefly pen pals with Tuli Kupferberg in the early '90s. I was too shy to keep it up. But he seemed like the sort of nice weirdo who would keep writing you back is long as you didn't seem like you wanted to kill anyone he knew. (I've never wanted to kill anyone at all, just to be clear).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm

I saw the Mothers a lot during the Ruthie era. She was not to be believed. Controlled fury, a force of nature, and a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

Hello everyone, listening and lurking while I surf --

Watched the Zappa doc the other night and enjoyed it -- nice to be able to watch and learn and help WFMU all at the same time, and easy enough to do: name, email address and payment info and I was on my way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm

@JJ, agreed, Ruth Underwood was the heart of the thing. Great to see Ian all growed up too. But the real shocker was FRANK ZAPPA KISSES BABIES
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
Franco Twinkie:

Haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm
Blacktooth:

"Weasels Ripped My Flesh" being one of my favorite Zappa albums. Not just because of the awesome title. But, the album itself is sound-collage mixing live-performance, vocal-acrobatics, blues skronk, hard rock guitar antics, orchestrated pop, schmaltzy locker room humor, finishing off with 2 solid minutes of wall-of-noise: literally an album years and years ahead of it's time.

@Franco: that's an amazing story. Ray was obviously more than just an "instrument" of Zappa's. Although he was storied for treating people as such. I think Ray was a bit of a muse, as he could do things that many others couldn't. Vocally and musically.... Just a theory.
