Hey Irene, hello one and all

Slipped in beneath the blackout curtains. Good afternoon.

Good morning-ish, Irene!

Hello Irene, Sean, βrian
Avatar 12:01pm βrian:

Salut, Sylvia !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Brian in UK:

Hello Irene & listeners. Just about cleared the last of the leaves today.
Avatar 12:03pm Malcolm:

hello irene and listeners
Avatar 12:03pm TDK60:

Hi Irene. Just in time for P.B.S.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Irene Trudel:

G'day to you, Sean, βrian, Summer and Michael and Sylvia, Sylvia, and Brian! Welcome all tuning in today.
Avatar 12:04pm TDK60:

..and I.B.S. too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm doctorjazz:

LOVE this ISB!
Hi all!
Avatar 12:05pm TDK60:

uhh that would be I.S.B. hee..
Avatar 12:06pm Malcolm:

love mike heron's voice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm listener james from westwood:

How do, Irene and all! Big wind and rain may be making short work of northeastern NJ's remaining leaves today.
Avatar 12:09pm TDK60:

Hi Listener James. I was just out in the deluge.
Avatar 12:09pm βrian:

"Let sleeping leaves lie" is our motto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Irene Trudel:

And hi to you, Malcolm, TDK60, doctorjazz and james! It's been too long since I played ISB. I discovered them while DJing at my first radio station, WJSV, a 10-watt high school station. Love those high harmonies!
Avatar 12:10pm Malcolm:

i saw mike heron sing this song with trenbling bells at bethnal green working men's club sometime around 2015
Avatar 12:10pm Malcolm:

good memories
Avatar 12:10pm Malcolm:

trembling bells i mean!
Avatar 12:11pm Constant Follower:

Aha! Childhood song in my house. Hello Irene! All :)
Avatar 12:12pm TDK60:

Been listening to a lot of I.S.B, Fairport, other Anglo/Celt folk, folk-rock. The stretch between Halloween and Yuletide seems to be the best time for it. Don't know why.
  12:12pm Dean:

Awoke early this morning, 2:00-ish, noting that I'd forgotten to tune in 5:00pm my time last night to Peter K.'s stand-up routine! Hope it went well.

Allan Hull, so great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Irene Trudel:

Malcolm, thanks for the reminder of Trembling Bells. must play them sometime soon. Constant Follower, Elektra tried to make Lady Elenor a hit, but I guess US radio wasn't into them as much as I was. TDK60, I'm of a same mind, musically. Dean, no worries. Peter will do another comedy set soon (what time zone are you in?)
Avatar 12:22pm TDK60:

Irene, one of your channels seems louder than the other, if there are two. Or, one of the players? The Jansch-Pentangle [?] was louder than the Lindisfarne. Then, It's A Beautiful Day seems lower. Anyone else hear this?
  12:22pm Dean:

Pacific. I was making dinner at 5:00, totally forgot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm listener james from westwood:

Don't ever tell me the perfect song doesn't exist, not while we have that Youngbloods track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Brian in UK:

Irene taking us back to a time before.
Lady Eleanor has such a quiet beginning always have to check it is on. Clear White Light off the first album is a favourite.
Avatar 12:30pm TDK60:

..but don't trust my hearing; it's shot from hearing banjo up too close, too often.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Brian in UK:

Malcolm, Trembling Bells played at Cafe Oto a while back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm melinda:

Hi all!
Avatar 12:35pm TDK60:

That Youngbloods gem indeed came out on LP in '67 but it was three or so years later it hit the radio charts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Shaw:

Enjoying the show Irene. Lovely sounds! Going well with a rare November snow in Nashville
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Stanley:

Hi Irene.
Just popping in to say I'm listening and enjoying.
Avatar 12:44pm TDK60:

Richie H. was on of my first concerts..
  12:44pm Dean:

Never thought I'd hear Richie Havens and think I was hearing ELO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm alanr:

Comforting sounds, especially for us NYC folks on this chilly windy rainy day. Perfect for social distancing from the rain.
Avatar 12:47pm TDK60:

..or walking in it, alanr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Irene Trudel:

Hey melinda, Shaw, Stanley and alanr. Glad you're all here. I may not comment a lot-- having some computer troubles with posting. Everything's frozen on the streaming computer, so I'm a bit limited at the moment
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Brian in UK:

Think this was getting to the point that Graham Nash had enough of singing songs abut meeting girls at bus stops.
Avatar 12:52pm TDK60:

So he got on the overnight bus to L.A. Brian?
  12:54pm Cronbat:

Lovely show, Irene
Takes me back to '69-'70, hearing these songs for the first time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Brian in UK:

TDK60, think the first time CS&N got together would have been fun. Shame they were so popular in a way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Irene Trudel:

Glad you're enjoying these, Cronbat. Like I said, it brings me back to my early HS radio days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Irene and rainy day listeners.
Avatar 1:10pm Constant Follower:

I am LOVING the show today Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm melinda:

I missed the opportunity to see Richie Havens at a club in New Hampshire years ago, which I now regret. Also missed Sign on the Window just now because I had to make a phone call, darnit. One of my favorite Dylan songs, and I've recently decided it's in part because it sounds Cat Stevens-ish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Hadn't heard yet about a re-mix of "All Things Must Pass", Irene, but recall that George always had a bit of annoyance about Spector's (over-)production. But agree, it's so iconic, it'd be difficult to tamper with. Also, re: "New Morning" - love that album, kinda seems overlooked... <3
Avatar 1:24pm TDK60:

Was just looking at some crows riding out the storm in a tree near my window. Thanks for the Kitchen Cynics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Irene Trudel:

I love that Dylan tune, and yes, that's a bit of an overlooked album. The Harrison remix was mentioned in a Rolling Stone artice I just came across.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Irene Trudel:

Wow, TDK60. a well-timed tune maybe?
  1:29pm Dean:

Wasn't this a remaster? https://www.discogs.com/George-Harrison-All-Things-Must-Pass/release/654169 Haven't heard it.
  1:29pm Dean:

Oh, remix. Never mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Webhamster Henry:

I know you played Mike Heron already, but it's such an Incredible String Band-y day here. #passiveagressive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm watchpocket:

Hi Irene - I've always loved New Morning and yes it does seem to be overlooked somewhat. I believe that when Dylan's albums were all released on SACD, New Morning, strangely, was not among them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi Irene. So sorry about the computer unpleasantries. If you can limp along till 3pm, it's worth trying. At 3, just restart your machine, if you can. Your connection will be dropped and the stream will kick back in.
Avatar 1:44pm Erella:

Oh thank you Irene.
I was listening to various versions of Sea Song last night on youtube. It is a perfect song for how I feel today too. Funny how that happens. Thank you for this.
  1:46pm Alan Cynics:

Thanks again for the play, Irene. Loving the show.....Sea Song is a big fave! x
Avatar 1:48pm βrian:

My stream wandered off to WCBN while I was having my lunch. Odd.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Irene Trudel:

Nice to hear, Erella and Alan! Sea Song is a fave of mine too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm doctorjazz:

Abdullah Ibrahim'! Up there in my most loved (and most often seen live) list!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Irene Trudel:

Ha, Brian! I'm in a 70s-ish mood today. docotrjazz, Peter and I were just listening to a lot of piano albums while I cooked on Thanksgiving. The Dollar Brand/Abdullah Ibrahim album is an old fave too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm doctorjazz:

(this is something we won't see anymore live, Ibrahim going wild with his right hand over on of rhythm ostinato with the left (he's gotten too old-at least, he didn't do it when I saw him with Ekaya last year). Pity...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Irene Trudel:

I'm afraid you're right, doctorjazz. Glad I got to see him play a long set (solo) at the Newport Jazz Festival some years ago. Sublime!
  2:03pm Dean:

Yesterday on Stork Club our DJ played a track from an ECM album by Denny Zeitlin and Charlie Haden.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm doctorjazz:

Jarrett is another who won't be the same in concert (if he appears at all-the last word I heard was that he had given it up for health reasons)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm Irene Trudel:

I know, Dean! Charlie popped up on so many great albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Irene Trudel:

doctorjazz, Keith did recently announce his retirement. He said he'd had a couple of strokes and couldn't play. Our friend, Nate Chinen had an article about it in the NY Times: www.nytimes.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm doctorjazz:

Sure, I was being (likely overly) optimistic...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm WR:

Listening for a few minutes between meetings. Hello Irene and all.

Never did see Abdullah Ibrahim in person. Someday doctorjazz would like to hear about your experiences seeing him.

Laters all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Irene Trudel:

Glad you could snatch a few moments to listen, WR!
  2:46pm Bill D:

Hey Irene, perfect afternoon for your show . McCoy Tyner's shows were Dollar Brand's, long flowing pieces . Caught Tyner a few times around 1977 . Love Gwinifer Raymond.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Irene Trudel:

Hey Bill! Glad you liked the show. I saw him many times-- a lovely man, and a beautiful player.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks to all of you for listening in this week! I'll be back next Monday at noon, hopefully without the behind-the-scenes computer glitches.
Avatar 2:55pm TDK60:

That Owen Pallett catches my Ear. Never heard of him. Thanks for the great show, Irene.
Avatar 2:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Up next on this Drummer Radio stream: Sound collages from the last tour: On Pillows, Mysteries Going On All The Time, In Between Dates...

...on Ken's Last Ever, come here -> wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Brian in UK:

An enjoyable time warp, thanks Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Irene Trudel:

Owen is Canadian, and that album is well worth seeking out-- quite beautiful.
  2:57pm Mark R:

TDK picked up an Owen Pallett album about 10 years ago called "Heartland" that I thought was wonderful--very rich, lush production and beautiful songs.
Avatar 2:58pm Constant Follower:

Thanks Irene! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks a ton, Irene! Stay clear of stray outdoor-dining huts blowing by; I've already seen pix of one in NYC having gotten knocked askew by today's gales!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Thanks, Irene. Gorgeous afternooning with you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm doctorjazz:

Thanks, Irene!
Avatar 3:00pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

thank you, Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm watchpocket:
