You're right about that Michael. I also get in order of frequency - Jerry Garcia, Fredrick Douglass and Karl Marx. All esteemed, and at least in two cases unwashed as well.
@phat: All of Junie Morrison's Westbound LPs cook!
8:24pm
Mr C:
He got the Ohio Players off the ground on Westbound just out of high school. His true calling led to One Nation Under a Groove and Knee Deep . Can't say enough about him..
Yeah, it's such an interesting thing to cover, that particular part of "Tommy." I really like the "Captain Walker didn't come home..." part from the movie too.
Yeah Thx for playing 1921 again - I missed it on Therese's !
Was just reading about Leonard Bernstein saying to Townshend - 'Do you realize what you have done ?!'
@Franco: Hmm... probably something pudgy like Taleggio because the damp makes me think of washed-rind cheeses. But I am kinda always in the mood for a yeasty cheese.
@Snayle: The reason I'm late to Gaylord's show is, I was finishing up planning for mine. I'm making my return to live programming. I've pre-recorded since March, but we're allowing a few DJs back into the studio, and I'm one of them. Tune in if you can! wvew.org 8-10pm tomorrow.
Thank you, Gaylord! I'm really nervous, even though I've been doing radio almost non-stop since 1998. I got so used to recording my mic breaks from my bedroom these last however-many months.
@Gaylord: yeah, it's been kinda nice pre-recording. My transitions have been so smoooooth -- thanks, GarageBand. But, honestly, I hate pre-recording. I like the excitement of live radio. I'm just nervous. What else is new? haha
@ the start - top of my When Things Are Normal Again list was going to the nearest breakfast diner. It closed forever pretty quick. That was a generous early morning serving of perspective. It just goes on ...
@RevRabbit: I didn't know that one. But, that makes me sad. In this crap economy, all we might be left with are shitty chain restaurants. I'm still sad there's no more Polka Dot in downtown Rio Blanco. Mary was my favorite.
I'm usually thinking about the 1960s or 70s Punk - so on - but the 1980s was my 20s mostly & the most consequential changes - & masses of definitive indispensable Music.
things ain't what they use to be...I've got it bad and that ain't good...don't get around much anymore...not its not covid poetry...its a happy birthday to the beautiful.Billy Stray horn...also a happy birthday to the incredible Busby Berkeley...
@Andres: Faye and I will likely visit a few more topic before we do exotica again. But I would like to feature more of my rather extensive exotica collection somewhere somehow (not just when I DJ out at tiki events and the like).
I mean it. I think someone could give you any two records and ask you to build a bridge between them over the course of an hour and you're the man for the job.
9:50pm
Dean:
You're correct, chresti. There is NOTHING WRONG WITH CUTE!
That Susumu Yokota hit just right and then bam Diane and Annita right on the money. Thanks Gaylord for those and for the rest of this righteous sonic journey. Take care everybody.

Dean:
My French teacher in college early on noted that all English words ending -ion are the same in French. That's not entirely true, but mostly so. For instance,"malfunction" doesn't obey that rule.
I keep hearing an echo that feels like "out in the street" — not an echo but something. Anyway, this Rainy day is great and thanks for another great two hours. Also thanks to the Skeleton Crew!

Joe R.:
Thanks Gaylord for the weekly fabulous weekend send-off

Was just reading about Leonard Bernstein saying to Townshend - 'Do you realize what you have done ?!'
love that take on 1921 -- had seen it on playlists but have not heard it until tonight!
And Nick Heyward is way ok with me to Sir G !
HC110: Kodak's old developer.
Coincidence?
@UM: Fair enough.
@Carmichael: Much obliged. Glad to begin the show with some stank!
great show!
Is there a way to make this song suck? No? No.
