Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Ike:

Do the NJ Wegmans (no apostrophe) still have decent prices? Because the Brooklyn one is insanely expensive. Are they just fleecing the hipsters in that one location? I hadn’t been to a Wegmans in a few years before going there and I wondered when all the prices basically doubled.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm McGroovey:

I just inserted the bird into the cooking box.

  1:56pm TVP:

I think the prices at the Bridgewater Wegmans are alright, but I've been avoiding shopping there in favor of the less crowded Kings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm mariano:

Hey Fox, hope all's well.
Avatar 1:57pm Fox:

I love Wegman's! When I lived in Ocean Grove, Wegman's definitely had cheaper prices than the local grocery store for a number of staples. Plus, those amazing cheese and candied nut things that look like cakes!
  1:57pm sister:

I prefer hot and spicy cheese its and canei wine...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm McGroovey:

Wegmans country = Rochester/Syracuse.

Wegmans has stuff at good prices, and stuff that's too expensive. If you want the thing you'll pay 99¢ for at Acme, it'll probably be 99¢ at Wegmans. But you'll also be tempted to buy they expensive stuff as well, and you will.
Avatar 1:57pm Pseu Braun:

King's is massively pricey. hey mariano, let's get BAKED...
Avatar 1:58pm Fox:

Heidee - I'm fine! Sorry, did I abandon a conversation here at some point? I wander away from the computer and forget things easily.

How are you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Ike:

I guess I was thinking more of the grocery staples than the prepared food. I don’t usually buy a lot of prepared stuff, though I do like a nice pecan pie on holidays and I’ll pay extra for a good one because lousy pecan pie is fuckin’ depressing!
  1:58pm Morgan:

i love the fresh goat flavor
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Rory:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Krys O.:

I've been using Shipt for grocery delivery and my store of choice has been Target. So far, so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm McGroovey:

No, Wegmans has no apostrophe. I disapprove, but apparently apostrophes are expensive.
  2:00pm AS from MP:

Pseu, one positive offshoot from this horrendous year has been the ability it has given to me to listen to you live while working from home. Archives are great, but live is better. Thanks for what you bring to all of us every week!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The Stop & Shop in my locality has 100% mask wearage, but people are blatantly ignoring the one-way arrows in the aisles. If it's a choice between one or the other, I'll take it this way.

Nada Surf: I've never listened to them on purpose, but I always like that in hear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm mariano:

There used to be a local supermarket chain in New Orleans called Schwegmanns. Some of them had bars, because of course they did. www.nola.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Ike:

I haven’t watched a soap opera since I was a teenager. Are they still slow-moving? I like The 100 though, that’s a trashy “apocalypse opera” that moves like lightning. Don’t like a plot point? Just wait 10 minutes, something totally different will happen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Krys O.:

Nada Surf > Pavement, but that's just me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Krys O.:

General Hospital's town of Port Charles was supposedly based on my hometown of Port Chester. The intro of the ambulance was filmed at nearby Greenwich Hospital. I know someone who was in awe that I was from Port Chester because of that minutiae.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Rory:

@mariano: New Orleans is a top destination for me. One day I plant to go there. Hopefully visit St.Louis cemetery... And the good omg!! One day, one day...

Schwegmanns still exists (I think) (last I knew). My wife's from New Orleans, so that was a point of discussion when we visited each other's families.

Ah,I remember traveling to see family. Do you remember traveling to see family? Sigh.
  2:16pm sister:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

After almost seventy years, the Schwan's grocery delivery business model is a perfect fit for these times, apostrophe and all.
Avatar 2:19pm ledzeppelinsucks:

My grandmother was hooked on 'The Edge of Night' in the 70's. I recall seeing it on a crappy black n white TV on CBC.
Avatar 2:19pm Heidee:

So then: How would you all rank "General Hospital", "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Good Doctor"? (I'm in the need for some binge watching.)
Avatar 2:19pm ledzeppelinsucks:

Fantasy drama clowns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm McGroovey:

Huh. Google tells me that Schwegmann's is gone. We always shop and speed at Rousse's (which is similar to Wegmans).

I think Schwegmann's had an apostrophe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm McGroovey:

Autocorrect sux.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Krys O.:

Oooh, I LOVED Edge of Night as a kid. Ryan's Hope was good too.
Avatar 2:21pm Deborah:

For binge watching, if you have not seen it....The Queen's Gambit. For six seasons, Schitt's Creek. Medical procedurals are okay but the aforementioned is better.

This Cait song seemed to sum up 2016 when I first heard it, and it's doing a durn good job summing up 2020 as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Rory:

ledzeppelinsucks: I always enjoy a good walmart fight. Guess it’s just the American in me to like stupid shit like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Krys O.:

I don't have Hulu. I adored the movie and I also adore Berry. Someday I'll watch it. Maybe they'll show it on Peacock TV. I have the app on my Xbox.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm McGroovey:

I started watching Dark Shadows a few weeks ago. I guess I got 5 or 6 episodes in and got it of the habit, but I should get back to it.

I used to watch East Enders when it was on my local Albany PBS station in the eighties.
Avatar 2:28pm ledzeppelinsucks:

The battle shopping videos are top fodder for America haters. They lead headlines in North Korea, Iran and other America haters. It's top notch shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm McGroovey:

*out of the habit

Curse you, autocorrect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm mariano:

penny: Yes! The Kingdom is part of my permanent collection, so scathingly funny. Dr. Helmer is my spirit guide ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Barkevious Shabazz:

Did all my prep shopping at Smegmans.
Avatar 2:30pm Roberto:

I've always figured eating competition videos must also be standard America-hating fodder.
Avatar 2:30pm ledzeppelinsucks:

I like the ones where the wigs get ripped off and the war paint smudged. There is a pile of electric knives or pillows laying next to crime scene tape of EMT's pumping someone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Acid Cazh:

For the record, the Matt Berry they've been playing on WFMU — the album Phantom Birds?

Same Matt Berry as Toast of London, What We Do in the Shadows (and, of course, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Snuff Box, the IT Crowd, etc, etc)

Same exact guy.

(I'm a fan, if you can't tell.)
Avatar 2:32pm Heidee:

McGroovey, thanks!
What about some good detective shows? Just now I am hooked on this dark criminal series "Trapped" (original title: "Ófærð"), set in Iceland. These guys surely know how to keep you in the dark...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Krys O.:

Acid Cazh, yesh. Don't forget Beef.
  2:33pm dj:

we did an all male cast...short film take on general hospital in one of my film classes back in the mid 80s...pretty wild for that era...
Avatar 2:33pm ledzeppelinsucks:

Black Friday eating competition is done at home. It should be at the big box for bonus discounts. Turn the Black Friday shopping into a circus. Have a tractor pull in the parking lot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Rory:

American degeneracy is the comedy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Krys O.:

My cat Harvey just jumped on the keyboard to say, Hey.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Acid Cazh:

Krys O: I haven't watched that one! Google tells me it's House of Fools.

Going on the watch list.

He's also excellent on Disenchantment, as Prince Merkimer (the pig). Rich Fulcher, from Snuff Box, does a bunch of voices on Disenchantment too.
Avatar 2:36pm Pseu Braun:

@acid cazh i'm telling u there's a different "pitchfork" matt berry
Avatar 2:37pm Fox:

Krys- I had no idea! I only knew it was in NY state somewhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm jillydg:

Such a marvelous description of waking with John Allen Pseu! Happy Thanksgiving to you, et al.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Mike Sin:

Happy Thanksgiving to ya, Pseu!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Acid Cazh:

@Pseu: Weird. I've never heard that one, but I've heard a bunch of Matt Berry (the real one) lately — instantly recognized his voice.

Nice one on the Robyn Hitchcock. I don't hear enough Robyn Hitchcock these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Krys O.:

I've got a signed copy of Matt Berry's TV theme album.
Avatar 2:40pm Pseu Braun:

@acid u may be right. I've never been a fan of MB's music. But I will czech out the Phantom lp
Avatar 2:40pm Fox:

General Hospital is basically like a shitty holosuite program on a space station somewhere, with a limited crew and limited spaces to use for the plot, in a similation that only kind of understands how human life worked. Once you accept that as the premise, General Hospital is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Krys O.:

Oh, have you ever heard Matt Berry's Music for Insomniacs? You can find it YouTube. youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Krys O.:

LOL, Fox!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm mariano:

McGroovey (@2:20) - Yep, Schwegmann's folded around the turn of the millennium. Lots of things aint' dere no more, as per the song. K&B, McKenzie's, Werlein's, those lovely old Canal St department stores.
  2:42pm judge:

Went to a turkey hot dog eating contest earlier...contestants had to wear masks...best competition all year....
Avatar 2:43pm Bergey:

Im picturing something horrific judge
  2:45pm judge:

name calling was abundant...someone got called mustard mask...
Avatar 2:46pm Fox:

I love GH because it's produced by a gay man who stopped trying to sell it as being young and sexy, and brought back a bunch of legacy character and older actors, and has digs at Scientology, and slips in super progressive politics as much as possible, and is the only place I've ever seen men casually objectified the way women traditionally are. It's fabulous.
Avatar 2:46pm Fox:

It's also pretty scifi in it's premises.
Avatar 2:46pm Heidee:

Fox. sounds fab, must try.
Avatar 2:47pm Bergey:

Ahahhaah thats hilarious, im surprised they would even use condiments
Avatar 2:47pm Pseu Braun:

@judge spit take lulzzz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Franco Twinkie:

How about a mask of bubbling scalloped potatoes ringed with acorns pushed into the mush?
Avatar 2:48pm Heidee:

I like the food-film cross talk on the board. :-)
A bit like TV dinner. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Rory:

I think I need to watch General Hospital now.
  2:49pm judge:

Catsup nose...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Tim In SF:

@judge: I relish the thought
  2:51pm Andres:

Do_it was epic! The underscore is important because if you try to search that with Ross then it is endless Friends results. Ugh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Krys O.:

Dinner is just about ready for plating.

Thank you, Pseu and everyone if Hookland. Be well!
Avatar 2:52pm mb:

Peace for now, yall.

Thanks Pseu (which i always misspell) Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours while u broadcast from your new happy room. Cheers!
Avatar 2:52pm Bergey:

Franco i bet theres some food item that could work as a half good mask but that aint it!
  2:53pm anthony:

star trek and general hospital are very similar...beam me down to er...Dr. Spock
Avatar 2:53pm Bergey:

I bet if you breathed through a good burger bun it'd be 67% effective
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Rory:

Thanks Pseu, have a good one everybody!
Avatar 2:53pm ledzeppelinsucks:

I am checking on the history of pardoned turkeys. I wonder if they fall on hard times similar to child actors or lottery winners. Corn and Cob from the recent Trump pardon have been smoking crack and doing hookers at a hotel in Maryland.
  2:54pm Dennis Diken:

Thanks for a great show Pseu, sending good wishes to all!
Avatar 2:54pm Heidee:

Thanks Pseu for the show, the music and the words. Thanks all for the chit chat. Be well all.

Don't know if it's the Everclear and peach juice talking, but I'm really grooving on this Buckingham-Mac tune. Thanks for the show, Pseu!

Thank you Pseu! Happy holiday of eating to you all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm McGroovey:

I was watching some icelandic detective show a couple years ago, and there have been (and probably still are) some good Norwegian/Swedish/Danish (I never pay attention to which) ones. But since I watch mostly on my little phone these days, and don't understand Scandinavian, and don't want to read tiny subtitles, I don't watch them anymore.

British detective shows: I've watched all the old ones, and the new ones are on pay services that I don't want to pay for
  5:44am Peteham:

Great Show!
