If It weren't there to be Burned Down, we'd have to build it! And then Burn It all the way the hell Down!

Nate! Burners! So glad to be here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm mariano:

Alright! The triumphant return of Nate the K! Let's burn it down!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm Handy Haversack:

Ha, no, Doug. I'm making my Fire Brussels Sprouts. Kate's making corn puddin' and -- the central feature -- a Frito pie with the super bean chili she made on Sunday.

Saturday I'll follow it up with my Italian Crescent Roll Surprise.

We're all about the side dishes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm Scott Williams:

Cheers, Brother Chop! @mariano, are you saying that because you mean it, or because you think that's what I wanted you to say?

@Handy what is Fire Brussels Sprouts? I was going to make brussels & apple hash. We're picking up our yearly turkey from this place called Veggie Heaven

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey, it's only Nate-u-ral!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Nate K.:

I take full responsibility for the Iron City House Rockers having been played on WFMU twice in one week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Handy Haversack:

I make a sauce with all sorts of things: garlic teriyaki, Thai chili paste, Sriracha, honey, rice vinegar, hot peppers, soy sauce, cornstarch, and cook the halved Brussels sprouts in that with peanut and chili oil.
Avatar 9:12pm javakid:

glad to tune in to your show on the livewaves Nate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Doug in JC:

Damn, that is fire! I heard they make stuffing with cornbread in the south so I'm going to try that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm medson:

This is like NRBQ and the Dead Boys to me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Handy Haversack:

Kate also wants me to mention her completely deranged chocolate pecan pie. The sort of recipe sugar isn't sweet enough for so Karo syrup ALSO has to be deployed.

Cornbread stuffing is awesome, that'll be great!
Avatar 9:13pm mb:

Yes! Nate the K rocking back on the airwaves!
  9:14pm Saltonstall:

Ought this hoping it was Pittsburgh’s version of Rubber City Rebels
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Nate K.:

@Medson, ha! That's pretty accurate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm mariano:

Wouldn't "monorchid" mean "man with one testicle"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm mariano:

Asking for a friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm ultradamno:

Made me think of Black Joe Lewis' cover of What Love Is on Austin City Limits for some reason, there's not much NRBQ about it, I guess, but there you go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Aitch:

Nate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Nate K.:

@Saltonsall, they're not as punk/wave as the RCRs. They have their moments, though.

@Hey, Aitch!

This song is really from 2020? so good

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Handy Haversack:

That can be arranged, Mariano. It's some dark subject matter, though! Kate wants to know if you want like a slice action shot or the pie in toto.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm coelacanth∅:

hey i have a "tech/artist" question...i have recording gear makes decent recordings but the finished piece is unacceptably lower levels, compared with almost everything on bandcamp. i WAS mastering my shit to a tascam rw900 but that bit the dust. even then it was low volume -but acceptable, if i'm conscious of digital distortion, which sucks.
now without that it's even lower. -like, a loud noise piece -quiet!
what do other home recording artists use for final mastering?
Handy? anyone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm mariano:

Hey spodi! Do you now have to wear an arm toupee?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Mr. Pumpy:

coel...you are getting acceptable levels and rich sound recorded for the source tracks? If so, the mastering shouldn't be bringing things down like that. I don't master much, but honestly, and setup wherein you can even run the stereo tracks out and into an equalizer and some compression would do a 'decent' job. It looks like you don't ant to use a computer, though. I have a Roland VS-2000CD which has a mastering suite and burner. There are many options ont he cheap if you don't mind mastering within a computer...and even more if you want to get creative with outboard equipment. Let's connect through email, I'll be of what limited help I'm capable of.

Husband -and i can't complain -that had to happen for flipper to become.
...great time to see the clash though. that's when i saw 'em. just after london calling -which i didn't like much! but they played mostly earlier stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm coelacanth∅:

(you maybe saw them just *before* london calling)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Nate K.:

@Coelacanth, who knows what the future holds?

m-f Flipper! Negative Trend, Temple Beautiful ... gah.... i envy these fantastical early years in SF lore ... @Elle Tor's Husband www.youtube.com...
  11:01pm Elle Tor's Husband:

@ultardamno that is a cool link! Gotta bookmark that one. The only thing is it wasn't at the Fillmore. It was at the Temple which was right next door to the Fillmore. And right next to the Temple was the Jim Jones People's Temple. That was one popin' corner at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Richy4619:

also a big WB to Nate K.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Chop Scott:

Yes! David Nance sounding great as ever.

Great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm Nate K.:

Hey, hey, Faye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm coelacanth∅:

and Husband it had to've been '79, so in-between give 'em enough rope and london calling. negative trend was done before the end of 1979.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Nate K.:

@ChopScott, agreed. Love the new record. He makes these subtle stylistic changes but never for the worse and that are always true to who he is, if that makes sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm coelacanth∅:

(and london calling was an x-mas release)

  11:11pm Elle Tor's Husband:

@coelacanth sounds right. I came into the scene late 78 and saw NT maybe 3 times and then it was all Flipper and and LA bands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Mr. Pumpy:

@otto, I love the Black Flag 'Damaged' the take a stab at. Impressionist to say the least!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm ultradamno:

@ETH there's a comment down a bit on the sceneroller link "It was definitely NOT at the Fillmore Auditorium, as listed. Was next door at 1839 Fillmore AKA Temple Beautiful."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Scott Williams:

Much agreed on Cut Worms! Slept on this for way too long, he is f&*ing fantastic. Simple songs done perfectly, great singing voice

@ultradamno as I recall the Fillmore wasn't even the Fillmore at the time. it was called the Elite Club and was a shambles. I did security there and at the temple starting in 80

Scott, headliner or opener?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm mariano:

Mr. Pumpy: Staying in, working on a design project. 15-person family Zoom call to my grandmother in Honduras at noon. Gonna take a long walk at some point, stroll around the Quarter in the evening. Feel like a bit of that gas-lamp ambience. What are you up to?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm Chop Scott:

Opener--I forget the headliner: 4/7/17.
  11:22pm chaos_in_LA_LA:

Life, et al
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Scott Williams:

Thanks Brother, gonna dig that one up!
  11:24pm Elle Tor's Husband:

OK - here is a story. I used to print t-shirts and printed some Ozzy "Blizzard Of Oz" tees. I snuck a few samples out and went to the Elite Club to see Code Of Honor. I snuck in by walking in backward. Within an hour I was doing the lights. I threw one of the Ozzy sample to Jonathan from Code Of Honor and he wore it for the whole show. This was probably the first time that t made it out in public. Good Fucking Times!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm mariano:

That's wild, ETH! Don't have any pics of the tees by chance? Bet they looked cool!

@mariano...that sounds like a good day. Covid or not, it still sounds like a good day! Maybe I'll send you some links to tunes I've been getting into lately. Things that are good to work along to. I was supposed to move, well move the majority of my things into storage, on Friday, but my closing got moved to 12/14. Of course I took the opportunity to call the moving company and reschedule them for December 11th so I could procrastinate some more! I am paying them to do the bulk of my packing, but there are things I need to do of course. I'll be mostly here, but back and forth to my dad's at times, for the nest 4-5 days. I have to pack my vinyl up and throw some shit out. It's not that bad being I moved here only a bit over two years ago. I'm fairly streamlined now. SO, I'm not really doing anything holiday related tomorrow...just the push to get out of here once and for all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm coelacanth∅:

haha "walking in backwards" -always wondered if that ever really worked!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm Mr. Pumpy:

Last minute entry to the comments board. Heya Nate and Pyros.
  11:33pm Elle Tor's Husband:

@ Mariano I don't but I wish I still had the t as it would be worth about $800. I gave a whole box of tees away to Good Will back in the late 80s not knowing what the market would be. Kicking myself
  11:33pm KWilde:

Really miss this show - always so good

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm Scott Williams:

Nate, how did we both play both Pax AND DC with KP on the same day? (I know you didn't hear my show, or you wouldn't've, amirite? ;)
  11:37pm Bo:

@Nate I always think your avatar is like a choochoo train. Like Thomas the tank engine. Eyeballs upper right, choochoo heading from left to right. Pulling into station.

Wow, Mr. P, good luck with all that. I know that feeling of having to be gone from a place. Where's the new digs? Sounds like your pops is doing pretty well too, since he's able to be on his own more, glad to hear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Matt Fiveash:

Hey Nate! Glad to hear ya.
Scott & Scott (if you're still there)- Cut Worms show at Monty Hall was with Miriam & Nobody's Babies, and Ian from Black Lips' band that I don't remember the name of.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm Scott Williams:

S'OK Nate, I also sometimes turn the radio off!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm Mr. Pumpy:

mariano...no new digs, per say. I'm selling being I'm living with pops anyhow. So, one more thing off my plate. Actually, two things if you count that I won't be a landlord any longer as well. I can then focus more on making my space over there more livable, and of course I can be less scattered, and by extension, take care of pops more effectively. It got to the point where it made sense to either rent out my unit of my two family, or sell the whole thing. the market compelled me. It was speaking, I was listening.
  11:46pm Elle Tor's Husband:

@handy the way things are going WFMU are going to be the new barter system so stock up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm Matt Fiveash:

Chop Scott- yes right! The band was called St. Pei I think.

ETH: i had a friend who moved from Anaheim to philly who called himself Ozzy and made a little $ selling concert tees (bootlegs, i'm guessing) to other students in jr high/hs back around when blizzard of oz came out. i had a nice VH 3/4 length (with the demon on the front), that i got from him. anyway. cool to hear about sf back then! been out here since 96. had an old hippy friend who'd tell me about the old days in sf (and gay culture, etc). anyway, cheers!
