Hi Ira, I haven't been to a mall in years, should be fun..
Swag For Life Member 9:06pm Ira:

Good evening, or afternoon, as the case may be. Glad to have you here today, or tomorrow, as the case may be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm greg g:

Good Evening Everyone

I have to step out of the shadows to testify. I remember four years ago when a friend posted about David Bowie being a guest DJ on BBC in 1979 (see below). I listened to the recording and thought how wonderful it was and how amazing it must have been to actually listen to it live in 1979. However, the Thin White Duke has nothing on Ira the K for on air diligence, quality or insightful wry commentary. For months now our host has been bringing the noise and melody to our domiciles in our cloistered bubbles. We are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the upcoming change of administration and optimistic reports of probable vaccines, but thank you Ira and Georgia for helping us stay grounded and uplifted during this strange time! www.factmag.com...
Swag For Life Member 9:07pm Ira:

Years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Todd-o-phonic Todd and Mr. and Mrs. Ira the K took in Bad Santa at the Newport Mall in Jersey City, where rats (in fairness, may have been only one rat) were running around the theater.
  9:08pm Rick G:

Thanks for the three hours each Tuesday, Ira-with a tiny snippet at the beginning of Dave Chang’s podcast, ha.
Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Ira:

Thank you, Greg G!

Greetings from Portland OR
Avatar 9:09pm TDK60:

..do malls still have organ stores? You could stop in and try the funny sounds on a grand-dad type home organ.
Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Ira:

@TDK60: Back when we marveled at a drum machine. What would they think of next?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm greg g:

your welcome Ira ! & also please don't let my wife know how many record purchases your show has prompted
  9:13pm Joeybug69:

This is the content I’m here for. (Or did I mistakenly eat a piece of moldy rye bread??)
Swag For Life Member 9:15pm Ira:

The mold's where all the vitamins are.
Avatar 9:16pm Jason From Baker Street:

I believe it's the only known source of Vitamin M
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Scott Williams:

@TDK60, I've been obsessed with mall organ stores for years! I remember them well, but the internet still doesn't have 'em in the index file.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm listener 126464:

Hi Ira & associates, everyone. Heads up for non-flying turkeys.
  9:17pm Shane the D:

Tonight I'm thankful for Ira and his producer spinning tunes for me and expanding my musical horizons. There's been a fair amount of chaos and darkness in the country lately, especially this past year, but there are always rays of light peeking through, and this show (strangely?) brings me a little peace of mind on Tuesday nights. I never would have guessed that an east coast radio show would become a part of my weekly routine, but here we are. Cheers to you all from Denver.
Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Ira:

Thank you so much, Shane the D. It's been such a pleasure getting to do these shows, and to chitchat with the commenters.

Avatar 9:21pm TDK60:

Scott, hehee. Sort of "square" places but with the potential for "funny sounds." I had a feeling they'd be fading out.
Avatar 9:21pm Jedley:

The weird came early tonight! I'm all for it... it's 5 o'clock somewhere
Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Ira:

My producer suggested I open with it, or maybe it was a dare, or maybe I made the whole thing up.
  9:23pm Rick G:

Very “third hour” vibes here :)

It sounds great! Love it!
Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Ira:

Love coming right up!
  9:26pm Libby’s mom:

Is this the companion piece to Mr. Lee Steiner, hypnotist lady from a couple weeks ago?
  9:26pm Joeybug69:

It sure beats the numbers stations on the short wave. Unless this is the modern version of that.
  9:26pm Libby’s mom:

Rather, Mrs. Lee Steiner
  9:27pm Georgia:

You don’t think Todd’s got this jam going on his show right now? Or this one..?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Threemoons:

Heyo. Gotta get off my butt and hit the greenmarket...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm patrick321:

Hey Ira! Digging the Love.
Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Ira:

I haven't smoked a cigarette since playing that Mrs. Lee Steiner record. Of course, I never smoked one before playing it, but still . . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Richy4619:

  9:33pm Libby’s mom:

@Ira - please don’t start! Expensive and stinky, plus might make it hard to hit those delicate notes.
Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Ira:

@Richy4619: You took the words right out of my mouth! @Libby's mom: Not a chance. Although the opportunity to blame not hitting delicate notes on something other than myself might make it worth considering.
  9:36pm Kramrellim:

Avatar 9:48pm TDK60:

You did some blues, huh. Country rock? Poco? Hard rock? Slade?
Swag For Life Member 9:50pm Ira:

No Slade (sadly). Is "Lost in the Ozone" country rock? If so, then yes.

I went for a three hour walk this afternoon, nice clouds rolling over town, neon orange sunset, got stoned under a bridge, passed very few others. the time got away from me.
Avatar 9:53pm tempohouse:

Thanks for the Snapper - still miss that guy.
  9:54pm Jon:

ZB, that sounds perfect
Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Ira:

@tempohouse: got to see a Peter Gutteridge solo performance in Dunedin years ago, on a bill with Sandra Bell and Alistair Galbraith. Impossible to overstate how adverse the performing conditions were for this magical evening.
  9:57pm phat:

Bob and Ray... just so soothing
  10:00pm Libby’s mom:

Will miss spending part of Hanukkah with you guys...maybe you would have covered ‘City Dump’?

City Dump!
Avatar 10:00pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Scott Williams:

Holy canolli, that segue form Party Girls to the creepiest yet sweetest Steely Dan tune of them all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Kat in Chicago:

Avatar 10:08pm javakid:

@Kat agreed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm chresti:

Thanks, that's Frisky, one of the family cats that came to California with us.

Avatar 10:25pm Joe B:

great version!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Kat in Chicago:

That was ELO? I thought it was Robert Pollard with the string section from Eleanor Rigby. or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

Very ver Roy Wood. I luff him
Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Ira:

@javakid: Wait till you hear the Peggy Lee song that comes next! @Kat in Chicago: It's the first ELO record, when Roy Wood is in the group. That was a Roy Wood song.
Avatar 10:27pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

There's gonna be a showdown between Roy Wood and Bev Bevan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Kat in Chicago:

Oh, OK. Obviously I don't know that first record!
  10:29pm Tim in NC:

haha i kept coming in with the opening words of the Eleanor Rigby verses by instinct, the first note's the same and everything! had never heard that either, great tune
Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Ira:

The ending to the ELO song sounds exactly like Village Green to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm Bobby K:

I generally feel better in here. Thanks, Ira.
Avatar 10:31pm Jedley:

Oooh we're all dating
  10:36pm Tim in NC:

J.J. Jackson is the original songwriter!
Avatar 10:37pm Joe B:

JJ wrote it but I think his recording came out after the Pretty Things? TOPT?

Duane's Uncle!!
Avatar 10:41pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Joe B: I'm not sure of the genealogy, but I can tell you that John Thomas does a soul version on the Veep label that many consider better than JJ Jackson's. And by many I mean at least 2 people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm chresti:

Joe Harriot, I think?
Avatar 10:43pm prguitar:

Glad to be here for a while Ira. Looks like it's been a fabulous show so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm chresti:

Okay, on my way to the bed portion of lurking. Thanks Ira, glad I popped in! Goodnight everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

I’m glad it’s only 7:45 in California so I can hear the whole show
Avatar 10:47pm John L:

Speaking of reggae, I just watched the first film in the Small Axe anthology series by filmmaker Steve McQueen. So far so great. Covers the 70s/80s West Indian experience in England and has a great soundtrack. I read that the next episode has some Small Faces alongside reggae and soul. On Amazon.
Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Ira:

@Sweet Corn Lizzie: And still have plenty of time to prepare for Mannix!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm mariano:

That sounds really interesting, John L, thanks for the recommendation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Roger:

I am enjoying this show immensely
Avatar 10:52pm slugluv1313:

greetings, Ira and Skeleton Crew and Everyone!
been listening/lurking, loving the tunes -- DAMN! that Jeff & Janet tune sure is purty!!! kinda reminds me a bit of "Don't Cry Now" era Linda Ronstadt

hey John!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Chop Scott:

Mannix? Yes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm mariano:

Belated good night, chresti.
Avatar 10:54pm John L:

Hey Joe!!!
Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Ira:

@Chop Scott: Mannix, yes indeed! The only negative word I have to say about Joe Belock's Shakey Street tribute to Neil Young was that he didn't include Buffalo Springfield's Mannix appearance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm SeanG:

Hey Roger! DDR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Chop Scott:

@Ira: 2 am is hot toast time!
Avatar 11:05pm Joe B:

I wish that Mannix Springfield jam was available without the dialogue over it!
  11:06pm Dungaroos Kipawah:

Every cover I hear of “No Good to Cry” reconfirms what a powerhouse performance young Al Anderson dropped on the original. Some cool covers, but Wild Weeds never equalled.
Swag For Life Member 11:08pm Ira:

@Dungaroos Kipwah: I don't disagree. But I love hearing each and every version. Was not aware of the song until seeing NRBQ play it during a magic box segment at the Bottom Line. A real eye-opener.
  11:08pm Dungaroos Kipawah:

That Mannix/Springfield ep is the best, save the one where Rip Torn holds Mannix & family hostage
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm Kat in Chicago:

Weird wild stuff, this Frank Wright
  11:09pm Dungaroos Kipawah:

I’m with you re “No Good to Cry”, just a perfect song, always like to hear what ppl
do w it.
Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Ira:

@Joe B.: If I read between the lines, you're suggesting that the rumor that Gail Fisher was being considered as Bruce Palmer's replacement was groundless?
Avatar 11:11pm John L:

What album is this Frank Wright on? I tried Google and nothing is coming up. Google, you're fired!!!
Avatar 11:11pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Frank Wright is starting to sound like The Legendary Stardust Cowboy.
