Yes!!! Hi Darryl!
Avatar 10:49am worldsworstrecords:

hey Jan! Hope you're keeping well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56am Jan Turkenburg:

thank you, Darryl!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58am Jan Turkenburg:

We had a really lovely blue skied day. That always helps a bit :-)
Avatar 11:05am Franco Twinkie:

A big eyeball straight out of the gate, I'm in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Franco!
Avatar 11:08am Paper Kosmonaut:

Guten Abend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Jan Turkenburg:

Navond, PK!
Avatar 11:09am Paper Kosmonaut:

It sure was a nice day indeed. I spent the whole day inside.
Avatar 11:11am Paper Kosmonaut:

Hadn't had a day for myself in ages, so today I stayed in and had a nice day of paper model building.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Jan Turkenburg:

So a day well spent, after all!
Avatar 11:11am Paper Kosmonaut:

you bet!
Avatar 11:12am Paper Kosmonaut:

Hi Franco, Hi Darryl!
Avatar 11:13am Feldpausch:

The eyes have it. Hi everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Jan Turkenburg:

yes, they have it again! Hi Feldpausch!
Avatar 11:15am Paper Kosmonaut:

Hi Adam!
Avatar 11:15am Paper Kosmonaut:

This music is right up my alley, Jan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Jan Turkenburg:

I'm very glad to hear that, Jasper! :-)
Avatar 11:17am Feldpausch:

Same here. I started out the morning listening to Fats Waller. Perfect transition
Avatar 11:19am Paper Kosmonaut:

Ha, here in Dutchyland the sun already has set again. Five o' clock and it's dark.
Avatar 11:20am Feldpausch:

I just read Tom Maxwell's memoir about Squirrel Nut Zippers. He idolized Fats Waller and Al Casey
Avatar 11:21am Franco Twinkie:

To my everlasting delight, the persisting appeal of the eyeball will never been replaced with the iconography of say, the elbow. iViva El Ojo Mysterioso!
Avatar 11:22am Feldpausch:

Paper Kos, the last time I was in Netherlands was in spring, so it was daylight at 10pm
Avatar 11:23am Paper Kosmonaut:

Kind of waiting for the Buñuel eyeball..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Jan Turkenburg:

I had it on the big pile, PK but decided not to use it.
Avatar 11:26am Paper Kosmonaut:

That Mike Melvoin had some musical loins. His daughter Wendy is quite well known to my generation as 'That Girl On Guitar From The Revolution'. (her other siblings Susannah and Jonathan also became professional musicians in their own right.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Jan Turkenburg:

Thank you, additional info is always welcome!
Avatar 11:27am Paper Kosmonaut:

@ Jan: it *is* kinda scary, isn't it? Not suitable for an all-ages radio show..
Avatar 11:28am Paper Kosmonaut:

the Chien Andalou eye, I mean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, it is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Jan Turkenburg:

it hurts even looking at it.
Avatar 11:31am Paper Kosmonaut:

Oh and by the way, Susannah Melvoin also was involved with Prince - in more ways than just one. She was singer in The Family, and even was engaged to Prince for a while. He wrote Nothing Compares 2 U about her, in fact. (I checked her wiki, I didn't know that last fact.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:31am Jan Turkenburg:

me neither. wow..
Avatar 11:32am Franco Twinkie:

Yes Paper, Un Chien Andelou! When I was about ten years old, my cousin Olivia took me aside at our grandmothers house, and gleefully described the eyeball slicing scene. She had just seen it at some underground movie place on the Sunset Strip.
Avatar 11:38am Paper Kosmonaut:

The Pixies' song Debaser also talks about that movie.
Avatar 11:41am Paper Kosmonaut:

Riiiight. Time to make some dindins. I'll keep listening from the kitchen..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Rich in Washington:

Hi Jan!
Hi everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Rich! Smakelijk eten, Paper!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Rich in Washington:

I seem to remember in Woody Allen's What's Up Tiger Lily the hero shouts epithets at the bad guys when he's fighting them and one of them is "Andalusian dog!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Rich in Washington:

or maybe I imagined it.
Avatar 11:45am Feldpausch:

Hi Rich! Vilkommen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Rich in Washington:

Hi Feldpausch!
Avatar 12:10pm Paper Kosmonaut:

I do hear similarities between Spinvis and Meindert Talma. You got any stuff by good old Meindert?
Avatar 12:13pm Sem:

Hello, Jan, and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Sem!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi PJ, don't tempt me... ;-)
  12:21pm PJ Vink:

Haha, It popped up. when I check titles in my Melodia flexi disc list. It's also on a 2003 CD by him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Jan Turkenburg:

It doesn't surprise me. It's just the kind of repertoire for him.
Avatar 12:24pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Hi SOFp! Snowy? man, it's been ages since I have seen snow. 2009 was the last time there was real snow in my city.
Avatar 12:25pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Whoa! a wasp out of an eye socket? That is even more scary to me than that Buñuel slice-up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Jan Turkenburg:

Oh I missed.. Hi StringOFperils!
Avatar 12:26pm StringOFperils:

Yes, Pk, snow still happens here, for now anyway. Maybe in 100 years, they'll be growing olives here all 'winter', who knows?

Hello, Jan. Hope you're having fun!
Avatar 12:30pm Franco Twinkie:

I just have to tell you, hands down, Alina has the best looking dark eyes. Kind, deep, and mysterious.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm ARB:

Made it in time for the milk yodel, phew
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Alina!
Avatar 12:38pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Overtone Yodeling. Very interesting. Imagine cows being able to do so. How would we regard them?
Avatar 12:40pm Feldpausch:

Where's the Aeon Flux flytrap eye image?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm ARB:

Baby Krishna is always getting himself into wacky milk exploits
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Jan Turkenburg:

I'm sorry Feldpausch, it's not included, but I will certainly do a next eye-show in the near future.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm WR:

This is the most vulgar song I've heard today, but the day is young yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, I like a little contrast.
Avatar 12:48pm Feldpausch:

Jan, I should've guessed that you have more eye-themed songs!
Avatar 12:50pm Franco Twinkie:

WR, He Taught Me How To Yodel by Ethel Delandy is not as vulgar, but it does conjure images of doing it in the great outdoors with a real screamer.
Avatar 12:50pm Feldpausch:

Hi Ali! Hi Franco!
