  12:21pm Jeff formerly from Rahway:

I’ve heard this song on WFMU quite a few times this year. It’s always been my favorite U2 tune :-)
  12:22pm PJ:

I think this the first time I have heard U2 on FMU. I had forgotten about this b-side - it’s really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm mrdonutsu:

So much Eno on this.
Avatar 12:24pm Pseu Braun:

I've played it a handful of times over 20 years, not reflected in the search engine here, though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Niall:

This is pretty. Like a... Mumford and Sons I'd want to listen to. Or an Avett Brothers I'm not tired of. Though that chorus is pure vintage AOR gold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Niall:

Honestly, I could listen to the theme song for an hour. I could listen to the theme song read the phone book. Is that the Cobra Verde guy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Mister Dobalina:

You & I time, is the best time!

Those early Lindley records are packed with fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Ike:

KITTY!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm efd:

I see two plays of that U2 song on "Thing With A Hook," including today. You included "the" in the title today, but not when you played it a few years ago, and there's also a non-Hook spin where it's listed as "3 sunrises" instead of "three" spelled out like the other two times.

(Me. I am the playlist nerd who cares.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm steveo:

sounding good, Pseu; hello everyone

Hi, Pseu and all. One more week to hook a turkey.
  1:02pm Listener Robert:

I remember when your "theme song" consisted of a death-metal type voice saying, overlaid on itself, "Pseu Braun, Pseu Braun," etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Michele with One "L":

Saw the Q with John Sebastian years ago. It was a good one.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Niall:

Oh, I like this one, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Niall:

@Krys O.: Where should one start with NRBQ? I've been curious, but... daunted.
Avatar 1:24pm Pseu Braun:

Bob Brainen is king of the Q. He's back on the air, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Niall:

Actually all y'all who appear to be fans of NRBQ - a "start here" nudge would be gratefully received.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Niall:

I have this mental image of... Little Feat meets Black Oak Arkansas. I have no idea why!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

I like mine with marmite.
  1:33pm Peter from Dover NJ:

Plain English muffins, please. And yes, I'd use the same knife for both butter and cream cheese.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm eastvanhalen:

Same knife for butter and cream cheese is acceptable. Same knife for butter and jam is not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Krys O.:

There's a tradition here at the office for the birthday celebrant to bring in bagels for everyone. We have consistently used separate knives for the various spreads.
  1:34pm Listener Robert:

I'll use the same knife for cream cheese and jelly. I just don't put butter and cream cheese on the same item. My housemate Fin (formerly known as Bob) would, however.
  1:34pm Bob in DC:

Peanut butter all day. One knife always
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Deborah:

Lunch break from teaching marathon. Vegetable soup and English muffin with Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. And get to listen for a minute....

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Beast of Boonton:

It's OK to re-use paper plates too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Krys O.:

Brainen was with us at the Club Bene show.
  1:37pm phat:

I can't tell you how much I enjoy NRBQ and Bob Brainen
  1:37pm Peter from Dover NJ:

@WoodsofNH I LOVE Marmite.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Bill in W.O.:

Re-use of a knife is fine, up to the individual, de gustibus. BUT, leaving traces of a food in a(ny) container of another one is just eww. YMMV but a line must be drawn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Niall:

@Krys O., @WoodsofNH (now Maine) and deffo @Pseu Braun - thank you! Plenty to sink my teeth into, looks like!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Deborah:

What is in Marmite? Sounds dreadful. Sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Niall:

Word up to Marmite.

While we're crowd-sourcing, any Philadelphia-smart people here? I had a Philly visitor here in Ireland recently and she was smitten with the white bread we have here - super-fresh, super-soft, fantastic for sandwiches. Sorta like the famous Japanese white bread. Anyone in Philly making loaves like that I could have sent to her?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Niall:

Ooo, Lustmørd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Niall:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

@Peter from Dover NJ: It's not for everyone, obviously.
  1:46pm phat:

I hate "so," too. Just had a conversation with someone else about that. I did, however, start a Twitter thread with it yesterday.
Avatar 1:47pm Pseu Braun:

ah, yes @KlausVonB - @phat add it to your resolutions for 2021
  1:47pm phat:

It's been a pet peeve of mine for years. I blame NPR.
  1:48pm (another) Patrick in Hoboken:

I am with you on "right?". As far as I can tell it is used a lot by the US technocratic elite; business schools, law, academia, and anywhere smart people are making an argument and want to signify that their point is obvious on the face of it, and you should not even have the temerity to dissent!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Niall:

Phat: I blame "Beowulf," but that may be Seamus Heaney's fault. ;)
Avatar 1:50pm Woo:

Talking is just hard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Deborah:

As an academic, I slip sometime but find doing due diligence and any form of the verb to grapple are much much worse offenders. Crap! Almost time to teach again.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Krys O.:

I never listened to NPR.

My writing was chock full of the passive voice and I try to avoid that when I remember to do that.
Avatar 2:00pm Pseu Braun:

pseu's freshly caught!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Deborah:

@Pseu Braun No Ivy League but a damn good community college in Jersey City. Administrators are more likely to grapple. Faculty use the right? and it doesn't bother me. But grapple will make me want to puke. Sorry, not sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Niall:

@WoodsofNH (now Maine): Slate's "Lexicon Valley" podcast did at least two episodes about the phenomenon - first with Garfield and Vuolo (the V1 days) and some years later with John McWhorter (V2, currently). They're worth listening to, IIRC.

Stumbled onto this last night: Jeff Kazee (Southside Johnny) is doing a live stream tonight from Daryl's Place. It's his Early Elton Trio and they're going to reproduce the 11-17-70 album. This is happening tonight. I think the link is on jeffkazee.com.
Avatar 2:14pm Pseu Braun:

@WONHNM is this information we should thank you for? I'm not even sure what it means - Southside Johnny is doing Elton John songs in a trio?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Niall:

@chris_in_space: Oh yeah, that got me right in the feels.
<duck/>
;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm WoodsOfNH (now Maine):

@Pseu Kazee plays keys in the Jukes. He has this trio (I think the Jukes bass player is in it) that specializes in Elton music from that era. I've never heard them, though he has described it as "not a cover band." So I'm sort of intrigued.

I was forced to walk out of an NRBQ show at the Bowery Ballroom in 2012(?) We went for the opener but the most vocal person in the "crew" was actually offended by them. lol. He demanded our money back and got it! I was and still am miffed about that. Miss that place big time.

That being said is there a place on the intertrons that one could find a comprehensive list of past shows at venues in NYC? Would love to re-live some shows as my ticket stub collection is incomplete once they stopped issuing paper tickets for shows. tia

@Brian: I am usually giving myself instructions as I multi-task which is whole other can o' worms.

@Pseu olivia newton john is one of my favorite singers

Then there's always the question of which of those internal speakers to give voice to.
  2:35pm WFMU listener john:

@Krys O do you ever answer your self
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Krys O.:

@listener john: Yes and often.

It is trying to turn you into a cat!! Don't let it!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Spankyflop:

Is that the same Alex Winter from Bill & Ted?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@John - Julie's show (Tuesday afternoons 3 - 7 PM, currently) on the Drummer stream often features some ONJ selections.

@Krys O i had a boss who asked me if i was nuts:)

a former boss told me it's only a problem if you start to argue with yourself.

Pseu, is your cat Naboo named after the Mighty Boosh character? I love him!
Avatar 2:41pm Pseu Braun:

@Syl xactly! he's made of magic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Krys O.:

@Spankyflop: Alex Winter has been working for a long time on this doc. It was held up due to the litigious Zappa trust. :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm dave wuz here:

did you get him from the nabootique?
  2:42pm Syl:

@Pseu I love it! Perfect name for a magicat

The undoing is kind of trashy junk tv that will get its claws in you after 10 minutes. Please play some Unicorns 🦄 probably heard them here a decade or more ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

I had a boss who talked to herself and would say "These people, I can't believe it!" and "I can't believe these people!" which became catchphrases for us on her team.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm mb:

@Krys: NRBQ offended him. I don't think he was expecting the sight of upbeat Normal Joes enjoying themselves on stage. I'm pretty sure it was the Charlie Hunter Trio or the Benevento/Russo duo that opened. THanks!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Krys O.:

Ah, I see, mb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm mariano:

Krys O: I have full conversations with myself, and I've reached the age where I don't care, though it is kind of embarrassing if I happen to be doing it in public and someone walks by. It seems like each time though, there's a glimmer or recognition and understanding from them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Mister Dobalina:

Great show, Pseu-Pseu-PseuDio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm mariano:

Spankyflop: Alex Winter was also one of the Lost Boys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Stillwell Coney Islander:

Thanks Pseu 🌟 :-)) !!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Krys O.:

Howard Kaylan used to share Alex Winter's Kickstarter for the doc. Howard also lamented the initial interference of the Zappa trust. Glad to see it was all sorted out. BTW-I'm Team Dweezil.
