I grew up in Kalamazoo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am Jan Turkenburg:

I didn't even know it's a real place....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Jan Turkenburg:

I learn everyday!
Avatar 10:35am Feldpausch:

Ha! That's funny. It's in Michigan. I have a t-shirt that says "Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo"
Avatar 10:40am Ursula1000:

Good morning everyone!
Avatar 10:41am Franco Twinkie:

Feld, my sister had a Kalamazoo t-shirt from the city collage. It wasn't a joke shirt, more like a team shirt. It was so fucking cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Jan Turkenburg:

Mornin' Ursula!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am WR:

Wondering why the name of the city started showing up in popular song read the Wikipedia page for the city and learned: Kalamazoo was the original home of Gibson Guitar Corporation, which spawned the still-local Heritage Guitars. The company was incorporated as "Gibson Mandolin - Guitar Co., Ltd" on October 11, 1902, by the craftsman Orville Gibson. One budget model was named the Gibson Kalamazoo "Melody Maker" Electric Guitar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am Jan Turkenburg:

thanks WR!
Avatar 10:51am Feldpausch:

Franco, I've wanted a shirt from K College forever. Gonna have to look on the interwebs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Lizardner Dave !:

Avatar 10:55am Feldpausch:

WR the building is still there right by the railroad tracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Jan Turkenburg:

A few songs and a streaming drop out of three minutes. Hi Dave!
Avatar 10:57am Feldpausch:

WR, Gibson produced a run of budget guitars under the name Kalamazoo. My friend has one
Avatar 10:58am Franco Twinkie:

The Melody Maker is a great guitar. A kid who lived down the street from me had one. It had formally belonged to some guy who got shipped off to Vietnam and didn't come back. And if that wasn't enough, the guy also had a VW Transport - the truck with knock down sides to haul his gear around in.
Avatar 10:59am Franco Twinkie:

I have a 1966 Epiphone that was build in the Kalamazoo factory.
Avatar 11:03am Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am spodiodi:

yes he was, Feldpausch! he was one of the fastest guys i raced with, and a pretty good guy/good friend. he came out to cali once, but i was in some kind of a funk/crazy with something, and we didn't meet. but yeah, he was fast (especially on certain courses)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am chresti:

Hi StringO, I need more coffee too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi StringOFperils!

Avatar 11:23am Ursula1000:

hey Feld, SOp!
Avatar 11:24am Feldpausch:

Franco, are you going to do a pen & ink for GG's tarot card project?
Avatar 11:27am Franco Twinkie:

I was thinking about it. What medium are you going to use?
Avatar 11:31am solo mon:

How now brown cows :-)
Avatar 11:31am Ursula1000:

what up Solo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Solo!!!
Avatar 11:34am solo mon:

Not much just being hypnotized by that go go gif U1ks got going.
Avatar 11:34am Feldpausch:

Franco, I did a sketch of GG, rolled over it with thin acryllic and drew over it with prisma pencils for a rough and I like how it turned out so I might use it as-is and do Solo's in a similar technique
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am WR:

Ah, I remember when Comrade Chaliapin brought the song of the comrade boat workers to the attention of the world. Whatever happened to comrade Chaliapin. It has been many years since I've heard from him.

en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 11:35am Feldpausch:

SOLOoooOOOoooOOOO!
Avatar 11:35am StringOFperils:

Franco, If you are working in 'analog' media, how are you getting the original artwork to GG? Are you simply scanning it into raster and sending it, or something beyond that? I'm curious because I wanted to create a tarot card as well, and all of my cracked software (Illustrator, Flash, Photoshop) is long gone at this point. I'm back to my old friends: pencils, inks, paint, paper, etc
Avatar 11:35am solo mon:

I should send u a new photo of me feld. I’ve had some work done and look a lot more like a cat than before.
Avatar 11:37am solo mon:

String! I’m sure some one can scan it for you. If you send we can scan :-)
Avatar 11:38am solo mon:

Jan enjoying the sounds:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Jan Turkenburg:

thank you!
Avatar 11:39am Feldpausch:

Solo, I saw the absence of beard. Send me your new style. Starting sketches for your card very soon
Avatar 11:39am solo mon:

Maybe the card can come w a beard sticker.
Avatar 11:40am solo mon:

Haha yeah that’s all you saw me bare faced. I was kidding about the Botox
Avatar 11:40am Feldpausch:

StringOFperils, analog is the way to go! If you don't have a scanner, even an iPhone shot looks pretty good in natural light
Avatar 11:41am Feldpausch:

Solo, let's laminate it and make a Colorforms accessories sheet with a beard, cats, records, glasses of milk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am chresti:

Franco gets his pen and inks scanned into pdf files, StrinGo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am chresti:

Hi solo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Lizardner Dave !:

Thanks Jan!
Avatar 11:56am Ursula1000:

Killer set Jan! Keep the party rolling at Sounds Spectacular> wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am spodiodi:

thanks, Jan!
Avatar 11:56am StringOFperils:

Okay, thanks for the format feedback, re. tarot card art. There was something else I was doing for GG, so haven't been able to address this until now. Thanks everybody.:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am chresti:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Jan Turkenburg:

Thanks JR HTX, See you!
Avatar 11:57am Feldpausch:

Danke, Jan!
Avatar 11:58am Franco Twinkie:

SoP, I take my finished artwork to Office Depot and they use the feeder scanner, and put it on a flash drive as a pdf. That works fine.
Avatar 11:58am StringOFperils:

Thank you once again, Jan! (thx for the vote of confidence Feldpausch!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am WR:

Enjoyed the Red Allen tunes. Interesting how that melody had such enduring popularity. Thank you Jan.
