Dutch beat, rock and pop, roughly between 1960 - 1980. We not only focus on shocking blue earrings washing up the sandy coast after tea, but we're also getting our shoes wet digging up nits from a kayak with our supersister

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Linda Lee:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Linda Lee:

no more falling leaves here. falling snow. :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Jan Turkenburg:

Most of the leaves have fallen down here as well, but certain kind of trees always remain green fairly long.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Linda Lee:

really! only our conifers are still green here.
:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Jan Turkenburg:

temperatures have been extremely high, not a lot of wind. I think that makes a difference for some trees..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Rich in Washington:

It's been dark, damp and miserable around here for over a week, but the fall colors on leaves are still beautiful.
Avatar 12:50pm worldsworstrecords:

Loving this!
Avatar 12:51pm worldsworstrecords:

Hi everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Rich in Washington:

We're surrounded by Douglas Firs but they're broken up by vine maples - 'the light of the forest', as my wife's grandfather called them - so the colors at my house are rather stunning. It makes up for the coldness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Jan Turkenburg:

Ah, so you ARE in time for this segment, Darryl! I'm glad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Darryl!
Avatar 12:53pm worldsworstrecords:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm notsoKWYET:

I did!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Linda Lee:

bravissimo! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm notsoKWYET:

i still have to pick it up ... but the bassist in two of my bands is lending me one...
Avatar 1:09pm worldsworstrecords:

excellent stuff! I love playing bass: i need to get myself a new bass soon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Jan Turkenburg:

For moment I hoped that said Bassoon, Darryl, one of my favourite instruments and very few people play it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm ARB:

Nice choice!!!
Avatar 1:11pm worldsworstrecords:

No, sorry! I don't play any woodwind, just bass and fairly basic rhythm guitar
Avatar 1:11pm Mr Fab:

I love how that Flying Dutchman song was just all vocoder.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Jan Turkenburg:

cool, hey?!
Avatar 1:17pm worldsworstrecords:

the US spelling is with a 'z'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm notsoKWYET:

what a Saxy Sax
  1:21pm zzzm:

do you know how french call the instrument 'bassoon'?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Jan Turkenburg:

aha, but it's true what i said about wrong spellings of English words on Dutch band's record covers. I've come across quite some weirdly speled words, but maybe some of these are also the difference between US and UK.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, that's the Dutch word as well, zzm ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm ARB:

Loving this MILK set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm ARB:

LoL "The struggle for ice cold milk" great concept for a song
Avatar 1:25pm solo mon:

Milk!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm notsoKWYET:

MEOOwwwwllllOOOoOOoO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Linda Lee:

yes, we do have odd differences between english & 'american' spelling for some words. mainly give or take extra letters.
Avatar 1:28pm worldsworstrecords:

Those crazy American kids don't like the letter 'u' very much
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm ARB:

We prefer I
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm notsoKWYET:

hi linda lee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm ARB:

I before U in America
Avatar 1:30pm worldsworstrecords:

lol!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Linda Lee:

.. so you have a british vocalist ~ say Mick Jagger ~ singing 'american' basically by dropping letters.
Avatar 1:30pm solo mon:

LOL arb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Linda Lee:

hey notsoKWYET!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm ARB:

It's all right to play more
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Jan Turkenburg:

LOL!
Avatar 1:32pm Domenic:

Hi folks. That Mekanik kommando sounded like a skipping CD LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Linda Lee:

wow. David Bowie was in Brainbox??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Domenic! I'm glad you liked it :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Linda Lee:

fantastic little known fact!
Avatar 1:33pm Domenic:

Was thinking the same about Brainbox and Bowie...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Jan Turkenburg:

It sounds like it, doesn't Linda, but i don't think so...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Linda Lee:

*another* one who made a pile copying! no wonder they slept together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Jan Turkenburg:

It is definitely Kaz Lux, perhaps trying to sound like Bowie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Linda Lee:

which came first, Bowie or the Brainbox?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Jan Turkenburg:

Bowie
Avatar 1:35pm worldsworstrecords:

easily! Bowie's first 45 was 1964
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Linda Lee:

he hadn't developed this singing style yet though. he was searching..
Avatar 1:36pm Domenic:

The name Brainbox reminded me the group named "Maggot Brain"...A couple of decades ago a co-worker once asked me "Do know of a group named Maggot Brain" Guess he could tell..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Linda Lee:

named after the funakedelic song. lovely!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Jan Turkenburg:

Brainbox's debut was 5 years later
Avatar 1:37pm worldsworstrecords:

Bjoke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Jan Turkenburg:

but was preceeded by bands like The Hunters with a lot of the same members.
Avatar 1:38pm Domenic:

Bloem de Ligny....this is lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Linda Lee:

i think a puzzled young Bowie picked up a Brainbox LP & found his style. it's too.. close..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Linda Lee:

to the way he sounded later, not in 69.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Rich in Washington:

Hawkwind did a lovely single titled Brainbox Pollution. One of their last with the Lemster on bass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Jan Turkenburg:

Well mind you, this is the 2014 reunited Brainbox with a more polished style and sound. The Young Kaz Lux had a very distinguished voice, very different from Bowie's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Linda Lee:

aho!! now i see!
Avatar 1:40pm worldsworstrecords:

yay! Beatlecover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Linda Lee:

Darryl, have you ever thought of a show of bad Beatles covers? bet you could fill more than one..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Linda Lee:

*not* including this one. i like this one.
Avatar 1:41pm worldsworstrecords:

Easily! And bad Beatle tributes too
Avatar 1:42pm Domenic:

This is nice. I like it better than the original version of Help
Avatar 1:42pm worldsworstrecords:

I may do one in a couple of weeks :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Linda Lee:

fab! :-)
Avatar 1:44pm worldsworstrecords:

ROOD SOVINE!
Avatar 1:45pm worldsworstrecords:

It's the 40th anniversary of John's assassination soon, maybe a lighthearted Beatle-themed show might be a nice touch as an antidote to the sadness
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Linda Lee:

why not?
Avatar 1:50pm Oats:

Hi Jan, thanks for the life & work soundtracking today.

Greetings fellow Mountaineers.
