Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Handy Haversack:

David and the Straphangers: hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm David Dichelle:

Hey there Handy H.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm David Dichelle:

Thanks for the link, Michael. It should be noted that Niasony moved from Congo-Brazzaville to Germany as a teenager.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm David Dichelle:

So the song reflects her experiences with culture shock.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Michael 98145:

these are great tracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, Michael, glad you like!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Ike:

Hi. I wonder if any FMU DJs have done premiums on culture shock as a theme. Maybe I have a copy of one already and just can't remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm David Dichelle:

Hey there, Ike - great idea, whether or not it has ever been done.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Handy Haversack:

Like Kidnapped but with kissing?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Brian in UK:

Hello David & sports fans everywhere.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Stanley:

Also, have you ever heard of Delta Mainline? Local to you.

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Carmichael:

Are the Corries related to the Corrs?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Stanley:

Thanks, Lisa. I know Patrick Harvie, leader of the Greens.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Brian in UK:

Stanley, are the Greens a folk band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm David Dichelle:

Carmichael: The Corries were named after one of the band members' daughters, just happened to be similar to the Corrs by name.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm chris:

hi, David and folks. hope you are all well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm David Dichelle:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm David Dichelle:

Hello Sylvia, hope it went well.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Brian in UK:

chris, tip top over here apart from the early dark nights, lockdown, incompetent governments & not seeing family.
Avatar 12:41pm Honeybear:

@syvlia - then hopefully this is the perfect music for you right now
Avatar 12:43pm Really Lisa:

@Stanley, wow, good for him! To echo many tweet-reply sentiments in the thread, hoping 'Scotland will save us' all.
@chresti, yes, sure looks like they're not going to let him slide.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Brian in UK:

I remember the shot of a middle-aged women holding a sign that said 'Tr..p is a c..t when he visited Scotland to try a new scam. That took some doing and showed the strength of feeling.
Avatar 12:45pm Really Lisa:

Brian in UK, that's Janey Godley. ❤ Scottish comedian (though I gather some don't find her funny)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Ike:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm David Dichelle:

Interesting links, both language-oriented in their own ways.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:58pm spodiodi:

haha, chresti. nice one.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:59pm chresti:

David, I'm learning new words.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:01pm spodiodi:

doctorjazz, nice list -- i think i recall you(?) posting it before. made me laugh then. i welcome more re-posting. :D
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:01pm spodiodi:

and hello to you and anyone else i missed (buried here in work)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Handy Haversack:

Yo, spod. Yeah.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm chris:

philosophy of language, much like epistemology, is a rabbit hole from which return is not guaranteed.
Avatar 1:07pm Honeybear:

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Handy Haversack:

As the hermeneuticist says, chris, that's one interpretation.
Avatar 🚂 1:08pm βrian:

Skirting the periphery. Good afternoon.

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:09pm spodiodi:

what about deer rights?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm David Dichelle:

Ahoy βrian!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:10pm spodiodi:

the last time i played any music it was plinking out moondog jams on my keyboard
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:11pm chresti:

Nice thing to plink out, spodi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm coelacanth∅:

greetings David & subterranean Freedom riders
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:11pm spodiodi:

aye, chresti.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:13pm chresti:

2 deer crossed the road in front of me, on my way to work yesterday, spodi.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:14pm spodiodi:

deer on the road are no joke, chresti. i'm glad you missed them! (i took down a large-ish buck once on a motorcycle once. ouch)
1:16pm Dave in St Albans UK:

Hi David! Glad to be here, ears at the ready, as always.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:17pm chresti:

It was in Griffith Park, I wasn't going very fast.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:18pm spodiodi:

big alohas to: coelacanth∅, βrian, chris, Honeybear. Handy. Brian, Lisa, Ike, Sylvia, SOP, Carmichael, doctorjazz, Michael, YETI BOB, Yvang. Stanlley !

Hey there, Coel and Dave!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:20pm spodiodi:

that's good, chresti. i think i was going about 75 or 80 at the time. didn't even really have time to let off the throttle
Avatar 1:20pm Honeybear:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm David Dichelle:

Today's Random Road coming up at the top of the hour...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Handy Haversack:

Hey, coela.

spod, my aunt still remembers when she and her dad were working on the farm and a guy came by on a motorcycle and hit a deer just down the road and took off most of his front. They threw him in the Ford (it *was* Michigan) and drove him 25 miles to the closest hospital. He made it and came back the next year to thank them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm coelacanth∅:

hey spodiodiodiodi ...sorry if i'm repeating myself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Handy
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:23pm spodiodi:

he's lucky, Handy (as was I -- everyone made it a pint to tell me, usually in MC vs Deer, the MCist dies) -- he's lucky your family was there --- and who's front, Handy?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:23pm spodiodi:

haha coel. stop making me laugh ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm coelacanth∅:

that bana was 2/3 of a small snack
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:24pm chresti:

Aw, that's great, Handy.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:26pm spodiodi:

i killed the deer (an 8-point buck), but took a little beating, etc -- probably the most violent thing i've experienced
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:26pm spodiodi:

*little* heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm David Dichelle:

Sounds more than a little painful, Spodi.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:28pm spodiodi:

we had 5 deer in the back yard 2 mornings ago, and i heard them the night before last while falling asleep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm coelacanth∅:

the bike vs. deer aspect seems like a good argument for (intentionally, like harleys) loud bikes.
i feel like that loudness issue has worked to that benefit with various cars i've had. or maybe i've just been very very...Very lucky
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:29pm dutchtheo:

Ola David, os viagantes continental & metro surfistas,
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:29pm spodiodi:

it was pretty gnarly, David, but i was very lucky. rib pain, road rash (150ft+ worth), and a scar on my left butt cheek, where an antler found it's way ~2 inches deep (anywhere else would have been a bigger problem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm coelacanth∅:

jeez, spodi that IS lucky
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Ike:

@Spod, I misread the way you used "beating" there and at first I thought you'd hit the deer with your bike and then started beating up the deer to finish him off, instead of "taking a beating". I was like, wow, you're strong.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:31pm spodiodi:

i was on a Harley at the time, coel -- glad i was ... it was quiet, but a lesser/flimsier bike would have been worse -- it was totaled. forks were bent pretty badly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm David Dichelle:

Boa noite, Dutchtheo!
Avatar 1:32pm Honeybear:

love this song - quite the dancefloor hit (in my apartment, which no one visits, at least). it's on the Analog Africa comp which I picked up during my early-pandemic buying spree
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:32pm spodiodi:

hahah doctorjazz. i'm weaker than ever now -- that was in 95. i was in shock, but tried to walk back to my bike to ride away -- my mc-racer friend was there, luckily and gently put me down while we waited for the paramedics, firemen, neighbors, etc
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:33pm spodiodi:

sorry doctorjazz and Ike -- i just had you mixed-up in my last reply
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm David Dichelle:

Honeybear: Yes, lots of great stuff on the Analog Africa releases.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm coelacanth∅:

spodi as i typed that i knew you'd probably been on a harley, so wondered about holes in my theory. even a quiet harley's louder than most hondas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Ike:

...so I had a comical image in my mind of Spodiodi and a deer having a fistfight on the side of the road, the deer standing on its hind legs with a black eye, swinging and jabbing. Maybe we can get Greg from Zone 5 to illustrate this for us?
Avatar 1:34pm Honeybear:

specifically: Jambú e Os Míticos Sons Da Amazônia (Analog Africa no 28)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:34pm spodiodi:

coel -- i'ved used up my 9 lives. and i'm not even a cat. to loud pipes and luck ;)
Avatar 1:34pm Honeybear:

Space Echo also looks like a must-have
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm spodiodi:

that deer was killed instantly, it's guts all over my bike (and me)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm David Dichelle:

Yes, both Analog Africa - I didn't even realize.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm David Dichelle:

Or maybe just subconsicously.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:35pm spodiodi:

the comical scene was the firemen and paramedics, etc arguing over who would get the deer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Ike:

Yikes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm David Dichelle:

I second that yikes!
  1:37pm βrian:

I once T-boned a Delta 88 while rocketing down a hill on my bicycle. I performed a 25 foot somersault, I was told, but I don't think I ever made direct contact with the vehicle. Mighty sore afterward.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm spodiodi:

also comical -- me face-down in the grass, covered in blood, and deer poop, with my handful of friends who were following me on their bikes gathered around me, my naked ass in the air, bleeding
  1:38pm βrian:

After that, I went out and bought a helmet.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Handy Haversack:

spodi -- the rider's front. Pretty much no skin left. This was in the forties, so I'm not sure what kind of motorcycle it might have been, but I bet it was loud. Loudness seems double-edged -- you're as likely to scare a deer at roadside to run *into* the road.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm spodiodi:

we had a Delta 88 when i was a kid! ouch, βrian
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm coelacanth∅:

spodi @134 that reminds me of something i used to say to people that 'i'd forgotten... "you only live twice - unless you're a cat."
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:39pm spodiodi:

ouch, Handy -- that is what i feared, and how i read it the first time. yikes. thanks for clarifying
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:40pm spodiodi:

coel, i felt really gyuilty when my younger cousin hit a tree in his neighborhood (in a jeep) -- when he and his friend (passenger) died
  1:40pm βrian:

the head tube and fork of my Raleigh Grand Prix bent enough to almost be touching the down tube. But it did not break!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm coelacanth∅:

and regarding roadkill, i've possiblty never created any, despite driving well over a million miles in my life; but i have seen it created, and called a friend to come and get it. (i've never and wont ever eat deer)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Michael 98145:

yikes! be careful out there, folks!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:42pm spodiodi:

deer are delicious (it's been a while, but i've had plenty in my pre-vegan days)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:43pm spodiodi:

βrian i've had one spectacular bike crash that left the bike in a twisted mess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm coelacanth∅:

christ, βrian! helmets are good! (i need not say "lucky, blah blah blah...")
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Michael 98145:

i think i drove over a pigeon. once. *clunk*
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Handy Haversack:

Last time I was at the Farm a car hit a deer and knocked it onto the property -- I didn't even notice the body until the sheriff had come and gone (not that I wanted anything to do with him -- real reactionary). I didn't know what to do so just tried documenting the decomp process and fly cycles, but a hot windless day pretty much ended all scientific and aesthetic curiosity. Eventually the coyotes and bear dealt with it. I assume. Pretty sure there are no hyenas in western Michigan.
Avatar 1:44pm Honeybear:

let's all hope the best for Jon - here's an update on him, if you haven't heard - www.gofundme.com...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm spodiodi:

i lived with a guy who's family had a dairy farm -- they'd hunt deer for meat year-round (more or less), and we always had the biggest steaks (my friend did the hunting and butchering). plus i have an uncle and cousin who are deer hunters
Avatar 🚂 1:44pm βrian:

Doc told me I landed on my ass hard enough to get a concussion. Heh.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:45pm spodiodi:

*laughs like a hyena* dag, Handy. to science
Avatar 1:45pm Honeybear:

his music has been very valuable to me over the years so I was happy to donate what I could
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm David Dichelle:

Thanks for sharing that, Honeybear, I was not aware.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Michael 98145:

deer and pheasant were once family holiday dishes. mind the buckshot.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:46pm spodiodi:

i know a guy who died on a bicycle (on a casual trail) coming home from a party -- who was wearing a helmet. you never know
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:46pm spodiodi:

makes a nice sound in the spittoon, Michael, eh?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:48pm spodiodi:

"Helmets are bullshit" -- i still like the way it sounds, though i've been a big proponent of helmets
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Handy Haversack:

A friend of ours as killed riding her bike in Manhattan in 2008 -- helmet on. Another last year got a serious concussion in a bike-on-bike accident. I don't know how to ride a bike, but I don't have any intention of learning until they ban cars in NYC or we run out of oil to run 'em.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:50pm spodiodi:

my dad was anti-helmet laws -- "Let those who ride decide"... but i've only not worn a motorcycle helmet once, while i was in Wyoming -- had to try it. but besides the risk, my hair got way too messed up (cheers, Rex)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Michael 98145:

I'll bet strongman Jair Bolsonaro wears no helmet.

Avatar 🚂 1:50pm βrian:

I always thought not wearing a helmet should be contingent on having a honking big long term health policy.
Avatar 1:51pm Honeybear:

Per a quote of his (Bolsonaro's) recently, he'd probably say: "helmets are for sissies"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm coelacanth∅:

truth is i always wear a helmet mountain biking, and nearly never on the road. i know there is a far greater chance of a head injury mountain biking. for me.
that's bicycle. i wear a helmet on a motorcycle no matter what -even if i'm in a state (like connecticut) that does not require it.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm spodiodi:

coel, iwe should ride together sometime
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm coelacanth∅:

...i agree your father though, spodi.
seatbelt laws are even bigger bullshit.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Handy Haversack:

My uncle has a country place, that no one knows about
He says it used to be a farm, before the Motor Law
...
Avatar 1:54pm Honeybear:

«“All of us are going to die one day. Everyone is going to die. There is no point in escaping from that, in escaping from reality," ... “We have to stop being a country of sissies,” he added, using the Portuguese word “maricas," a slur against gay people.»
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:56pm spodiodi:

i took the front clip off a a honda sedan one time (in sf) -- i was on my fireblade-- riding in the city is sketchy af, Handy. sorry about your friend
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:56pm chris:

i'm ashamed to know the red sports car you speak of, Handy.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:56pm chresti:

Insurance companies would surely deny benefits if a helmet wasn't on in a bike accident?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:57pm chresti:

*deny coverage^
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:57pm spodiodi:

chresti -- there is no good motorcycle bodily harm coverage -- i thought i had some when i hit the deer, but learned that's th case afterward (i thought i had really good insurance)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm coelacanth∅:

i have no bike now spodi. one spring ago i could find the bikes i want for reasonable prices, but had no money. then by last autumn i had the money and couldn't find a single one that i wanted. weird....but now i have no income, so it may be a while.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:59pm spodiodi:

a guy i worked with once (flipping burgers, as a teen), was also a paramedic. he liked to say about motorcycle accidents : "taking such a call is easy -- just need a mop"
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:59pm spodiodi:

i should quit riding
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, spod. It was pretty awful. But we threw one hell of a funeral. Had an anarchist second line and everything.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm spodiodi:

we could ent a coupe for a day trip, perhaps, coel -- but yeah, it might be a while anyway... *shakes fist at pandemic and 3k milles*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm coelacanth∅:

very sad about your friend,Handy; and your cousin, spodi (why did you feel guilty?)
and sending good light toward Jon Hassell...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm spodiodi:

second line? pardon my ignorance, Handy
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Handy Haversack:

NOLA-style brass-band parade, spodi.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm spodiodi:

coel, i felt guilty because i've had no shortage of close-calls ... i should really be dead. many times over. he was a good kid.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:03pm spodiodi:

ahhh cool, Handy! thanks
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:04pm spodiodi:

my cousin's funeral brought out hundreds of people. he really was a nice guy. much, much nicer than myself (rip, Matt)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:05pm spodiodi:

ironically, he'd been asking me about buying his first MC just before it happeneed
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:05pm spodiodi:

ok, i'm shutting my fat trap now, out of respect for you all
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:08pm chris:

getting back into bike riding these days. recently acquired electric pedal-assist fat tire cruiser for store runs and jaunts on the local fire roads, etc. i do *not* like riding on streets (having been run off the road by cars in the past, spandex warriors who take biking way too seriously, etc.), but i'm trying to get back into it because riding is super fun!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Handy Haversack:

Vanuatu has a cool flag! And apparently had more than 100 indigenous languages!

And I guess just had its first COVID case.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Ike:

Cool to hear some music from Vanuatu. It looks really really cool from what little I've seen on TV.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm David Dichelle:

I don't think this one has a Roud number.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm Lewis:

Vanuatu can also have very large earthquakes...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:11pm spodiodi:

and Jeff Probst
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Handy Haversack:

And apparently sells citizenship for $150K. Maybe that could be your premium next year, David.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm David Dichelle:

Lewis, yes it is along the Pacific Ring of Fire, I believe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm David Dichelle:

Handy: We may be able to afford Sealand passports.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Lewis:

@David - yes big subduction zone there... I had colleagues who spent a lot of time there listening to the rumble of plate tectonics...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:14pm chris:

this trip to Vanuatu is fun. my cold toes are longing for warm sand, and the music is warming my spirit.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:15pm spodiodi:

hear, hear, chris
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm ⓘⓚⓔ:

(LOL@Spod, yeah, very weird season of Survivor. An earthquake on screen and everything.)
Avatar 2:16pm Honeybear:

nice headcleaning track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm David Dichelle:

Glad it's helping, Chris, it is the time of year I begin to wonder about my own climatic choices.
Avatar 2:17pm Really Lisa:

Meeting away from browser for a while there.
Spodiodi, Handy, condolences to you both.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Lisa, coela!

Really enjoying the Vanuatu sounds, David.

Is Sealand on the list? Is there a 1:249 chance we hear its music one of these weeks?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:20pm chresti:

Haha Handy@212
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:22pm spodiodi:

thanks, Lisa! it's been ~17 years, but he's missed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm David Dichelle:

For Sealand it would have to be an hour of wind whistling across an old oil rig platform, probably not even a WFMU first, come to think of it.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:22pm spodiodi:

hah, David
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Handy Haversack:

I'm sure Adriene has some relevant sound files.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Handy Haversack:

(Oof, I miss the Blind Tourist!)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:24pm YETI BOB:

Hi - just got out of my meeting, glad to be back. (Here comes the weekend!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm David Dichelle:

Happy weekend, YB!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:25pm chris:

yeah, Adriene's Blind Tourist show was stellar.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Yvang:

What randomness does! We needed this trip to Vanuatu.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Stanley:

This is not bad, at all, for a nation of less than 300,000
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm coelacanth∅:

(also miss the blind tourist)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm David Dichelle:

Yvang: Yes, the randomness does a certain something...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm David Dichelle:

Stanley: Indeed!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm YETI BOB:

@Yvang: Hi! I have Issue 35 ("Bonkers") of š! magazine sitting on the desk in front of me. There are some really good comics in there.
Avatar 🚂 2:28pm Will in Raleigh:

polynesian reggae is great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm David Dichelle:

Hey Will, more to come...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:30pm chris:

agreed, Will. and yay, David. :)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:31pm YETI BOB:

Aha, the string of islands formerly known as New Hebrides.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:32pm YETI BOB:

(Where were the old Hebrides?)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Handy Haversack:

Scotland, YB. Harris, Lewis, Skye, etc.
  2:33pm Funky16Corners:

Hi David!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:34pm doctorjazz:

Bopping at the office!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm David Dichelle:

Yes, a strange connection back to the Skye Boat Song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm David Dichelle:

Hey there, Larry!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Handy Haversack:

Very similar climate to Vanuatu. That's probably the connection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm David Dichelle:

Handy, exactly!
Avatar 🚂 2:38pm Bas NL:

Hi David! Home at last..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm David Dichelle:

Welcome (home), Bas!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:40pm chris:

Metoxide as a band name is arguably a poor choice. sounds like something that will give farm workers cancer.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:41pm chris:

but the sounds of the band are inarguably groovy
  2:42pm Funky16Corners:

Testify! Coming up at 3pm ET- https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/98363

Today, two hours of film music!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Handy Haversack:

Wow, awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm David Dichelle:

Chris, the name is memorable though!
  2:44pm Funky16Corners:

Digging the Bowie cover!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:45pm chris:

great point, David. and yeah, this cover is great. all smiles.
Avatar 2:46pm Jeff Moore:

@chris – Yes! That band name sounds like an ag chemical from a company which doesn't even have American Cyanamid's branding chops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm David Dichelle:

Chris: Okay, one more then!
Avatar 2:47pm Really Lisa:

💟
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:47pm chris:

hell yeah. oh man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm David Dichelle:

Hey Jeff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Lewis:

The SuperTramp echo is really nice in this one...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Stanley:

This is excellent stuff
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Stanley:

I can see an old man like me grooving in a beach bar in Vanuatu with these sounds. Beer in hand.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:51pm chris:

cheers to that, Stanley. heaven on earth, tis.
Avatar 🚂 2:52pm Bas NL:

Hi Stanley! Talk about old men.. My dad just turned 80 today! And still enjoys his beer.
Avatar 2:52pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Really Lisa thoughts for you late sister
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Handy Haversack:

First round's on me Stanley!

(Did you see my question earlier? Ever heard/heard of the Edinburgh band Delta Mainline?)
Avatar 2:52pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

*your
Avatar 2:53pm Really Lisa:

Merci beaucoup, Sylvia ❤
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Handy Haversack:

(OK, if the A train stops in Vanuatu, I have really been misreading that damn map.)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:53pm spodiodi:

thanks, David! great show!
Avatar 2:53pm Honeybear:

that farewell track was exquisite
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:54pm chresti:

Thanks David!

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:55pm dutchtheo:

Tangkyu, David, Ale, lukim yu nekis taem, Jis!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Stanley:

Sorrry Handy, missed that. I was on the phone to my beer supplier. No, Delta Mainline I do not know. Any further info?
Happy birthday to your father, Bas.
Great Random Road, once again.
This train must have been the express, this evening 'cos we're at the end of the line. But it's been fun. Thanks David.
Catch you all at the interchange.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks David!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Yvang:

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Handy Haversack:

Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, everyone!
