greetings, Mary Wing and 100% Whatever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm David (in London):

We vow to thee Mary Wing. Hello!
Avatar 12:01pm Really Lisa:

Hi Mary, hi 100% of everyone.
Avatar 12:02pm Sem:

Sindiely Whiplash.

Things go better with 100% whatever. Hello, Mary, spod'di, D(iL) and all.
  12:02pm KWilde:

Heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Handy Haversack:

Hello, Mary and all the Wingnuts!

I was about to go on my walk and be late to this party, but it started raining ... maybe we should call it fate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm David (in London):

spod, Lisa, Semonaught, Handy. Aloha groovers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm fred:

Hello Mary and everyone. Happy Nigel Tufnel day!
Avatar 12:06pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hello Mary, and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Handy Haversack:

The .pls file that I drop into VLC to switch streams is named in such a way that every time I get to mentally say "drummer, please"! This makes me happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey Hey! Hi Mary, Handy, DiL, spodiodi, everyone else!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm David (in London):

Hi Sylvia, Phillippe, solid gold groovers both.
Avatar 12:10pm Mary Wing:

Greetings spodiodi, David in London, Lisa, Sem, KWilde, Handy, fred, Sylvia, and Phillippe! Hooray for Wednesday!
Avatar 12:11pm Mary Wing:

Nigel Tufnel Day is a thing? Kewl!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm spodiodi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm coelacanth∅:

good afternoon Mary, aloha 100%ers
Avatar 12:14pm Hubig Pie:

Nigel currently working as a haberdasher
Avatar 12:15pm Sem:

Nigel's wikithingy page is a hoot. Lowdown on his "day" is there as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey coel!
Avatar 12:15pm Mary Wing:

Hiya coelacanth and Hubig!

I think Nigel morphed into Noel Fielding of The Mighty Boosh, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Mary -- I was just grilled as to why I hadn't already got this on Bandcamp. Good thing December is on its way.

Yo, coela!
Avatar 12:16pm Hubig Pie:

Also, helllllooooo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Michael 98145:

hey, gang
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm coelacanth∅:

hey Phillippe & Handy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm coelacanth∅:

hey Michael
Avatar 12:18pm Mary Wing:

Good morning Michael 98145 and hello to Kate in the other room!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm David (in London):

Hi Coela.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Phillippe Bastille:

Still boggles my mind that Noel Fielding is on a cooking show. He's great in it
Avatar 12:20pm Sem:

Lovely Amy just then, thank you, MW.
Avatar 12:21pm Mary Wing:

I haven't watched TGBBS since the original hosts left, but I might come back for Noel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm fred:

Unfortunately, Nigel Tufnel Day isn't a thing. I did end a zoom call by mentioning it anyway. If I have to take a work call on a holiday, expect a prank
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Handy Haversack:

She's in the same room, Mary, doing her postrun exercises and offering Bandcamp advice -- but she says hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm fred:

Sadly, I still haven't found the motivation to make the Jandek house my zoom background as I threatened to months ago. I should do that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The particular Simpsons episode first aired April 14, 1996, so I presume that is known as Steamed Hams Day.
Avatar 12:26pm Hubig Pie:

Nigel Tufnel day was a one-time type thing, held on 11/11/11. You waz supposed to turn everything you did up to 11
Avatar 12:27pm Mary Wing:

Ha ha haaaah, Hubig! Oh, that's classic.
Avatar 12:28pm Mary Wing:

Pity I won't be around for the next Tufnel Day on 11/11/2111...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm David (in London):

Being as 11/11 is the annual Armistice Day in the UK, I think we could easily append the two. Once the two-minute silence is over, we turn everything up to 11! The contrast will be fantastic.
Avatar 12:29pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

interesting that this band is on a label founded by Peter Stormare, the actor (I clicked on the link)
Avatar 12:29pm Hubig Pie:

Ya never know Mary, what with modern medicine and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm David (in London):

Yo Hubig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Mary definitely worth it. I like the addition of Matt Lucas as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm coelacanth∅:

hey David (iL)
Avatar 12:30pm Hubig Pie:

Yo yo yo, David
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Phillippe Bastille:

Today is my oldest son's birthday. He was born 11 minutes before 11 on 11/11
Avatar 12:31pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

Happy Bday to your son, Philippe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm coelacanth∅:

i quite like that ramases track. and the singer's voice reminding me of George Harrison didn't hurt any.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm David (in London):

Many happy returns to Bastille Junior.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Phillippe Bastille:

oldest/eldest? Help me out editors!
Thanks Sylvia! He had a great birthday gift -- his offer on his first house was accepted!
  12:32pm Mark R:

Julie played something from one of Low's other albums yesterday!
Avatar 12:33pm Mary Wing:

Happy Birthday to Bastille Minor! The only way to make that story better, Phillippe, is if your son has 11 toes. :-)
Avatar 12:33pm Hubig Pie:

Didya name him Nigel, Philippe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Andrew_in_WI:

@Phillippe Elderly. Benjamin Button disease.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Good morning-ish, Mary and Whatever-ers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm coelacanth∅:

i have to turn something else on when i hear "autotune". sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Phillippe Bastille:

I will pass it on, DiL! 29 yrs old -- yikes!
@Hubig He's Eliot, after t.s.
  12:34pm northguineahills:

Hello from a rest area. It’s been like Blade Runner the last week, constant rain....(surveillance is the added bonus).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Andrew thanks!
Avatar 12:34pm Mary Wing:

Howdy Mark R., Andrew, and S&M&S!

Julie and I sometimes orbit the same musical planets, heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm coelacanth∅:

Happy Birthday Son Of Phillippe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Mary I like to think of it as existing in the same asteroid belt

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@ngh - You may be aware already, but Eta is back up to hurricane status and on track to cross central Florida tomorrow. Keep safe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm fred:

I have a weirdly fond memory of walking home through a snowstorm listening to Mezzanine on my walkman, many many years ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm coelacanth∅:

my guess is mezzanine will hold up forever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Handy Haversack:

And from Cousin Haversack as well, Phillippe!
Avatar 12:38pm Mary Wing:

I agree, coelacanth. Their trip hop will survive when all other musical genres will fade.
  12:39pm Mark R:

Love this album, and yet somehow it's not already part of my collection--wtf?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Handy, will pass it on as well! I can almost promise that I will get a "who the fuck are they?" text back from him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm David (in London):

Phillippe, Elliot was an English teacher at my school. Not that I was in his class, though.

Hey S&M&S
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm coelacanth∅:

"we're your extended family, muthafucker!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Phillippe Bastille:

Ha Mary, just saw your comment at 12:33! Regular toe count!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm Handy Haversack:

PB, Webster's is silent on elder vs. older, though elder pretty much only refers to human age while "old" can obviously be applied to a lot of relative time scales. No usage note is present on the difference -- but you know Webster's. Bunch of descriptivists!

I don't have my copy of Garner's Modern American Usage to hand to see if he has thoughts on the matter, but that's my go-to for such matters. His shorter list included in the 17th ed. of the CMS does not address "older" vs. "elder."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Phillippe Bastille:

@DiL I bet he was tough on grammar and punctuation...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Phillippe Bastille:

@coel exactly!
@Handy I will just refer to him as elderly and be done with it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm coelacanth∅:

having 12 toes, evenly distributed, would be okay (aside from having to have a 2nd job to maintain footwear)
11 toes wouldn't be good at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Phillippe Bastille:

A little bit more complex than having a third nipple, for sure
Avatar 12:49pm Mary Wing:

Anyone think of other songs with acoustic guitar and sax? I really like the sound of them together on this song.
Avatar 12:49pm Hubig Pie:

Or 3 buttocks
Avatar 12:50pm Mary Wing:

"It's true!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm coelacanth∅:

i've known more than one person with 3 nipples; one person with 12 toes, as far as i know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Phillippe Bastille:

Ok, heading in for a leftover chicken and spinach Italian sausage for lunch. Anyone need anything?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm coelacanth∅:

Hunig Haha!
Avatar 12:51pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Philippe, cake, obviously, there's a birthday to celebrate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Handy Haversack:

The trick is to make sure the additional toes aren't on your feet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Phillippe Bastille:

Wasn't there a character on one of the American Horror Story series that had 3 breasts?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm coelacanth∅:

food! anything without meat!
Avatar 12:52pm Hubig Pie:

Dreamy downbeat vibe on the show today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Sylvia of course! @coel I'll extract the chicken
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm coelacanth∅:

(Hubig, sorry^ -not Hunig)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Phillippe Bastille:

As someone who's butt is in an office chair all day, I'd appreciate an emergency back-up butt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Phillippe Bastille:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm coelacanth∅:

Handy one must be careful of what one wishes for though, lest one ends up with toes extending from one's face
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm spodiodi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm WR:

Hi all. Lurk listening cause work is a .... ya know having hard time cursing without being misogynist, aaah, more work that have to do.

Nice tunes Mary; St. John, Drake, and so on...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Stanley:

(puts on wingsuit and glides in. Perfect landing)
Hi friends.
  12:56pm Mark R:

This set is a nice match for this gloomy day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm coelacanth∅:

Phillippe @12.51 my mother said she knew a woman with 3 full-sized breasts.
i imagine -depending on "cup size" that could indeed be a bit of a horror story, for the woman.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm coelacanth∅:

greetings spodi, WR, Stanley!
Avatar 12:58pm Mary Wing:

Thanks! The tempo will pick up in the next set, though.

Ah, I love this song so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm David (in London):

Nice landing Stanley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Love! Thought it sounded a bit like Richard & Linda Thompson at first...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Ike:

@PB, I know exactly what you mean. I bought a nice office chair for WFH, so it hurts less, but it still hurts sometimes. King Missile's famous song "Detachable Penis" needs a sequel, "Replaceable Butt (for Working from Home)".
Avatar 12:59pm Mary Wing:

Hi WR, Stanley and Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm spodiodi:

WR, Stanley (nice suit!), Ike *tips hat*
Avatar 1:00pm Sem:

S and M and S: yes, me as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Ike I sense a market
Avatar 1:01pm Sem:

Hello, Stanley. Quite the daredevil, windsuit-wise.
Avatar 1:01pm Sem:

*wingsuit*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Phillippe Bastille:

@coel that would make for an interesting entry on a Tinder profile
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm David (in London):

You really don't want to be in the room when Stanley has his wind-suit on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

so I overestimated how long leftover Italian sausage would last in the fridge (less than 18 hours, apparently). Looks like it's cheese and crackers and room-temperature Fresca for lunch
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Handy Haversack:

At least your shoes would still fit, coela.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm spodiodi:

yay S'em!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Stanley:

Phillippe - I'll have the sausage.
I didn't know about that, Sem. Why didn't I get an invite?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Stanley:

@David - I have a suit for every occasion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Stanley I was confused since you did not leave the tupperware container on the kitchen island, like I've come to expect
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Phillippe Bastille:

This is my favorite Clash album. And my favorite Ellen Foley song (well, maybe not the last part)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm doctorjazz:

Hi! Cool set!
Avatar 1:22pm Mary Wing:

Hi doctorjazz!

Phillippe, do you have Ellen's album Spirit of St. Louis? It was recorded around this same time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm spodiodi:

this doesn't sound like a 2020 recording. cool! sounds good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Stanley:

Italian sausage has a special place in my heart this year, being the first meat I ate since some tasty chicken in Jersey City, at the onset of the pandemic last March and you can imagine, it was out of this world delicious. My vegetarian partner moved in since then and, of course, no restaurant visits. So, Phillippe, sorry about the tupperware. Can you just wrap it in a piece of foil?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm spodiodi:

allo allo, Webhamster Henry and doctorjazz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Mary I do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Stanley that's what I should have done in the first place. #1 hack for making sure a leftover you don't want raided is to wrap it in foil, as most people don't want to go through the trouble of unwrapping it just to see what's there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Phillippe Bastille:

Tomorrow is also my late sister's bday. She would have been 57. I know, I'll get back to work.. too much sunshine and cheer from me. Plus, oddly, one of her doctors was - really - Dr. *Neal Young
Avatar 2:05pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Really Lisa <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm David (in London):

Good thoughts to you Lisa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Handy Haversack:

It's OK to share your clouds, Really Lisa. We are here. Sending good thoughts, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm spodiodi:

to your sister, Really Lisa

and to your son, Phillippe (does he know about Michele's show? might be a connection with the singular "L")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Sorry to hear that news, Really Lisa. 💔 Take comfort.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Stanley:

Thinking of you, Lisa.
  2:10pm northguineahills:

Only 7 in a row? I guess we got spoiled w/ 15 in a row.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm coelacanth∅:

rest in peace, Lisa's sister
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm spodiodi:

7 is a lucky number, ngh 🍀
  2:11pm northguineahills:

Lo siento Lisa!
Avatar 2:13pm Really Lisa:

Thank you, kind woof moo folks, sincerely ❤❤❤
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm David (in London):

Surely Wing must have covered this?
Avatar 2:13pm 🎾🎾🎾 Mary 🎾🎾🎾 Wing 🎾🎾🎾:

Hello Ken!

A glass raised to Lisa's sister.

Couldn't find more than 6 versions, NGH, which is a disgrace since it rocks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm doctorjazz:

Great tune for this treatment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Spodiodi alas, I am the only WFMU listener in the family...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Phillippe Bastille:

I am sorry about your sister, Lisa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Handy Haversack:

If Wing hasn't covered this, David, strongly worded missives will fly!

Also: Oh, crikey.
Avatar 2:17pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

@Really Lisa we don't talk enough about grief, like it's not there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm coelacanth∅:

i'd rather hear a version by Mrs.Miller
Avatar 2:17pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

these covers are all very good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm spodiodi:

i hear you, Phillippe -- still trying to get Florida Lee to join in the funhere (though i admittedly can't shut up about the goings-on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
Avatar 2:19pm 🎾🎾🎾 Mary 🎾🎾🎾 Wing 🎾🎾🎾:

This is so 80s, oy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Phillippe Bastille:

I've played Mary's 80's disco archives and some of Monica's old programs at family gatherings and they are generally well received; Bryce's show, not so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm spodiodi:

i somehow ripped some skin off my knuckle returning trash cans ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (now to find a band-aid ... still need to put 90% of our crap away)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm spodiodi:

i tried to turn some of my old co-workers on to Fabio's show ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ nothing doing (and they like cool music... got me)
Avatar 2:22pm Really Lisa:

@Sylvia 2:17, agreed. It's too hard for some.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm spodiodi:

so far this morning, i did some unanticipated welding with the cord to a portable heater, and created a blood-gushing wound B^) what a day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm fred:

@Phillippe: it's all about the timing. Bryce works best when you want most people to leave. Those who remain are either drunk or worth having stay a little longer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm spodiodi:

lol, fred "when you want people to leave"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm coelacanth∅:

here's a good one. for me it's 3 - 3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Phillippe Bastille:

My family really doesn't listen to that much music, other than me. The bride is usually reading/watching news or crafting videos, the youngest racing videos, the middle political vlogs, the oldest just works all the time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Phillippe Bastille:

@fred excellent point. I'm such an introvert, I should just have it on when they arrive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm fred:

@spodiodi: I actually have an old DJ premium (by Stefan) titled "Clear the Party So You Can Go to Sleep"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm David (in London):

Phillippe, it's kind of funny bumping into my son on Bryce's board these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Phillippe Bastille:

@DiL I'll bet. He seems like a nice kid. You done well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm coelacanth∅:

fred i miss the belly of the beast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm fred:

I read that Four Seasons Total Landscaping were selling "Lawn and Order" masks. I was sorely tempted, but cash is short these days
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm coelacanth∅:

(and the propaganda hour)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm spodiodi:

nice, fred X^D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm fred:

@coel: On one of his CDs there was a variety of metal genres, ending with Chomsky as "Justice Catalyst Metal"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Phillippe Bastille:

@fred they sure got a merch page up quick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm coelacanth∅:

fred i remember that cd; it was in my runners-up but i didn't get it. might've been his last one, right?
i do have a Stefan wfmu trading card though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm fred:

Didn't David Eugene Edwards have a project called Woven Hand? IIRC he did music for a great Wim Vandekeybus dance show
  2:52pm northguineahills:

Thanks, Mary!
Avatar 2:52pm 🎾🎾🎾 Mary 🎾🎾🎾 Wing 🎾🎾🎾:

Yes, Fred, he was in Woven Hand, not sure about anything else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm fred:

@coel: I think "Clear The Party..." was the last one, Metal Genre Education Kit was the year before. He was on the air that long, I think. Wasn't his show first called "Spiral Sun Plan"?
Avatar 2:53pm Sem:

Been a while since I've heard KId Congo et al. For that I thank you, Mary. Hope to see you and all whenever, but for practical purposes, let's say next Wednesday, right here. See ya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Michael 98145:

Stepping back to the typewriter to say thank you again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Handy Haversack:

Sounds like a plan, Sem!

Thanks, Mary! I worked too hard during this ep., but that's my own damn fault. Always a pleasure to be here. Thanks for all!

Be well, Wingnuts. See youse soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Stanley:

Great stuff, Mary. Thanks again.
Later fellows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm fred:

I think Woven Hand was basically a solo project. Looks that a film based on the dance project is here: youtu.be...
Never sure how that translates to a screen, though
Avatar 2:56pm Sylvia (France-NYC):

thank you Mary
Avatar 2:57pm Really Lisa:

Thank you, Mary. Best soundtrack to my Wed afternoons.
Phillippe B, happy bday to your son 🎂
Peace, all. Be safe and well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Phillippe Bastille:

Thanks Mary! Off to another meeting (pray for me...)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm David (in London):

Thanks for a great show today Mary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm spodiodi:

thanks, Mary!
stay Whatever, everyone!
Avatar 2:58pm 🎾🎾🎾 Mary 🎾🎾🎾 Wing 🎾🎾🎾:

Stick around for DJ Black Helmet; playlist is here: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Mary!
Avatar 2:59pm 🎾🎾🎾 Mary 🎾🎾🎾 Wing 🎾🎾🎾:

Thanks for listening today!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Mary. Don't wind up with tennis elbow! 💪
