I literally had to take the headphones off my head to see if it was violently raining on my roof.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Jan!
Avatar 3:01pm Domenic:

poems! Good. Poems from this time are intense.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi PK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm notsoKWYET:

written by a Canadian!
Avatar 3:02pm worldsworstrecords:

Beautiful sounds and words, GG
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I wanted the music to be gentle as some of the poems are, as Dom says, a wee bit intense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm notsoKWYET:

We all learn Flander's Fields when we are very young... is that the case elsewhere? Or is that a Canadian thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Darryl - Thank you, lovely <3
  3:02pm Martinibomb:

Feels like I'm floating in jelly
Avatar 3:02pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Poems of war are always so touching.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@NSK - I learned it at school in Vancouver, so maybe. :-)
Avatar 3:03pm solo mon:

Notso- Ned Flanders?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi MB! These albums were recommended to me by the wonderful Matty Dread :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - When I saw the date, I knew I had to do this
Avatar 3:03pm solo mon:

I feel like I’m encased in aspic.
Avatar 3:03pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Le Dormeur du Val (Baudelaire) comes to mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm notsoKWYET:

AlllloooooHEyyyyyy Solo
Avatar 3:04pm worldsworstrecords:

I don't recall learning about the war poets in school in Britain in the 70s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@solo - Floaty float :-)
Avatar 3:04pm Sonderangebot:

Working but tuned in <3
Avatar 3:04pm worldsworstrecords:

I may have switched off or been playing truant though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK- Very much so! Love Baudelaire :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Darryl - Same here to be honest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Sondy!
Avatar 3:05pm Paper Kosmonaut:

In Dutchyland the 11th of november is largely celebrated as Saint Martin's day, with tick-or treating, since we did not take part in WW1.
Avatar 3:05pm solo mon:

Isn’t there a mimsy farmer record where she recites Baudelaire?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I read most of these poems with my nails dug into my palm to steel myself and stop from crying
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK- I didn't know that!
Avatar 3:06pm Paper Kosmonaut:

French singer Sapho did a marvellous version of the Le Dormeur du Val in the 1980s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@solo - I know there's a Mireille Matthieu one? I think. I'll have to check that.
Avatar 3:06pm solo mon:

I’m ready to cry a little. Thanks GG
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - I'm always up for a Baudelaire reading. Oh!!! I may have to do that :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@solo - <3
Avatar 3:06pm Sem:

Hello, gg, and the HWM contingent. Along for the duration.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm notsoKWYET:

There is a French ye-ye one by Uta where she recites Baudelaire
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I also need to say thank you to Greg for taking care of LHT for me on Monday :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@NSK - Love that track!!! Played that a few times
  3:07pm Martinibomb:

THANK YOU GREG!!!!
Avatar 3:08pm Paper Kosmonaut:

My favourite war poem is High Flight by John Gillespie Magee. That one always is good for a lump in my throat, even though i am an atheist.
Avatar 3:09pm Paper Kosmonaut:

I am very aware of the remembrance of WW1 though. It was a terrible war.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - I found so many that just reached in, tore my heart out, and put it back in again upside down
Avatar 3:09pm Paper Kosmonaut:

I can relate to that, GG.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - <3
Avatar 3:10pm worldsworstrecords:

I didn't 'get' poetry at school... it was much later, when I read Shakespeare's Sonnets that I started to understand what it was all about
Avatar 3:11pm worldsworstrecords:

I Love ye-ye, NSK... I'll have to check that out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Darryl - It never helps having spotty herberts in class stumbling over it either! That was always our English class :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is still the first track by the way - I got overexcited and hit publish too soon :-)
Avatar 3:12pm Paper Kosmonaut:

@ Darryl: Kind of the same here. I saw a poem on the wall of the literature classroom which suddenly grabbed my soul and never let me go again.
Avatar 3:12pm worldsworstrecords:

My problem was in having a disinterested teacher... and not really caring about school outside of music lessons
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm notsoKWYET:

I'll link it to you WWR
Avatar 3:13pm worldsworstrecords:

thanks Dan x
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Darryl - We were extraordinarily lucky with one Englosh teacher, the very aptly named Mrs Bennett who was *passionate* about the subject and knew ancient history and all sorts of things. :-) She taught us all the rude bits in Shakespeare ;-)
Avatar 3:13pm solo mon:

Oh shoot it wasn’t mimsy farmer it’s Yvette mimeux she does flowers of evil by Baudelaire w a sitar artist, sitarist?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm notsoKWYET:

@paper ---- interesting. I actually LOVE to write poetry and really don't care for reading it. It's what I usually do when I'm in a bad space
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yvette Mimieux!!! That's it :-)
Avatar 3:14pm worldsworstrecords:

another to check out, solo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm notsoKWYET:

@Solo --- I literally discovered and listened to a bit of that today. Someone posted it in the Far Out Sounds FB group
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I;ve written poems before but I much prefer reading other peoples :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Franco Twinkie:

Did I miss the soup course?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm notsoKWYET:

I dunno what it is lately. .. but my mind melds are WAY UP
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It took me two years to get a copy of the Yvette Mimieux album but it was worth it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Franco!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@NSK - It's the time of year. Thin veils and all that :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Franco Twinkie:

Geogina Pizza Pie!
Avatar 3:16pm Paper Kosmonaut:

I love to read poetry. I am always so impressed how people can make me cry with just a couple of well-chosen words. A piece of literature could never do that. I try myself, too, of course but I always feel unable to get it right enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Franco - :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Paper - I'm the same. And songs are poems with music :-)
Avatar 3:18pm Paper Kosmonaut:

"They shall not grow old" - also a hugely impressive filmic effort of Peter Jackson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - That's such an iconic poem. I saw so many people post that today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ok, this is the second track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm Rich in Washington:

this is lovely.
Avatar 3:20pm Paper Kosmonaut:

GG- some songs really are high-level poetry indeed. Bowie's last album had songs that brought me to tears, even before he passed on. That's the last one that was able to do so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Rich - Both these albums are so pretty. I love Takashi Kokubo :-)
Avatar 3:20pm Domenic:

that Yvette Mimieux LP is intense, some of you might not want to play on the air.. ;')
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - Oh goodness yes!!! That whole album is a gut punch ...
Avatar 3:21pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Sorry I talk too much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dom - I'm sure we're all game :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - Don't be silly!!! I encourage conversation here :-) Talk away, my friend! :-)
Avatar 3:22pm Domenic:

My daughter criticized me once for liking poetry...(brought her to a reading once) she associated it with a certain persuasion...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dom - What is rap if not poetry? :-)
Avatar 3:23pm Paper Kosmonaut:

(-: I do not see that many people these days GG. I kinda miss my regular friday in the pub.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - Then you are most welcome here, my lovely friend :-)
  3:24pm Petey:

damn - can't get on any of the streams but main FMU stream - anyone else?
Avatar 3:24pm Domenic:

Rap is poetry. I'm not going to deliberately listen to Rap but its obvious its artistic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Petey - Oh dear! No sound at all?
  3:25pm Petey:

nothing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Petey - I know that the pop ups were not playing ball last week. have you tried the 128k one?
  3:26pm Petey:

lemme try that-thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Petey - Fingers crossed! :-)
  3:27pm Martinibomb:

@domenic rap is also rhythm which is a foundation for music
Avatar 3:28pm Paper Kosmonaut:

I now have this image of GG's voice flying like a curling long ribbon over endless sunny and silent poppy fields.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - What a beautiful image!!
Avatar 3:28pm Domenic:

Awesome @MartiniBomb..
Avatar 3:28pm Domenic:

(my daughter is watching Zombieland Double Tap, she paused it and there is a scene in a tiki bar...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dom - Still not seen that although I loved the first one. I saw that at the cinema as part of an all night zombie marathon :-)
Avatar 3:29pm Domenic:

More like an pad.. Rosario Dawson's place
  3:30pm Martinibomb:

@GG I used to have this 6-8am slot at my local radio station and this is all I played on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - WOW. That must have been so beautiful to hear that <3
  3:31pm Martinibomb:

I wish we had a super chill show like this on every day on sheena in the morning - a really early one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - Aloha is always so much fun to do for me for that reason. Nice and calm and chill :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm notsoKWYET:

I love the cover of this record... that multi colour text is everything!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@NSK - I do love a bit of holo! :-)
  3:34pm Martinibomb:

yeh maybe a robo one tho that's super early? like an AI chill out morning show sorta like Owl Sun
Avatar 3:35pm Paper Kosmonaut:

GG- could you also give us a list of the poems you've read?
  3:35pm Martinibomb:

only we pretend that it's busted and we just can't fix it.. so anything people tell it to play it only plays Kokubo
Avatar 3:35pm solo mon:

Rise n Shine Sheenas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@KP - I can certainly try :-) Are you on the Facebook group? If not I can post them here later at the end of the comments or in the playlist description :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm notsoKWYET:

Rise N SHellllllOOOOoooOOOooOoOOOOOOooOO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This poem BROKE me :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That poem and the last one in today's show were the hardest for me.
Avatar 3:37pm Domenic:

WWI was such a waste, all those young people..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Dom - And then they did it all over again :-(
Avatar 3:39pm Sonderangebot:

I still don't get the reasons for starting WWI, which makes the losses seem even more absurd...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Sondy - For me, the best tribute on Armistice Day would be for all wars to stop. Permanently. :-(
Avatar 3:40pm Paper Kosmonaut:

GG I am not on any social media, so if you could do it here, that would be great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@PK - Consider it done :-) It might be tomorrow tho, but I'll put it up in the description at the top of the page :-)
Avatar 3:41pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Hear hear, Let's stop war forever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Franco Twinkie:

This is perfect for making me sit still.
Avatar 3:42pm Domenic:

There's a great 3 part documentary about WW1 called "Long Shadow" Cambridge historian David Reynolds.. WW1 was complex to interpret, plus every country had a point of view with som many regime changes.. and WW2 changed its perception even more...
Avatar 3:42pm Sonderangebot:

I agree GG, no more wars and disarm all.
Avatar 3:42pm Paper Kosmonaut:

GG Thanks! <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Franco - Happy to hear it! :-)
  3:43pm Martinibomb:

I want more war! And then I want to pave the Earth so everyone has free parking! Mhahahahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Franco Twinkie:

But I still want a pizza!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@FRanco - No pizza sadly ... I shall nourish with music :-)
  3:44pm Martinibomb:

I want a pizza maze.. cause I like pizza and I like mazes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - If I knew there was a pizza at the end of it I would be around that maze in two seconds flat ;-)
Avatar 3:45pm Sonderangebot:

Domenic it all started when some dude divided the Roman Empire I guess ;)
  3:46pm Martinibomb:

@GG do you know how to solve a maze? Just pick side and follow it. Works every time. I take people thru mazes and they get angry with me because I solve them so fast. But it's ez!
Avatar 3:46pm solo mon:

I learned about mazes from the enchanted forest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - I'm trying to remember the last time I was in a maze I shall have to remember your strategy for next time tho :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Franco Twinkie:

I didn't say YOU had to get me a pizza Georgy, I was just imagining how I could improve the situation around here.
  3:47pm Martinibomb:

where is there a maze in the forrest? That mirror thing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Franco - Aha!!! Well ... when you find one ... I'll happily share it :-)
  3:47pm Martinibomb:

@GG for me.. I pick the left side and I just stay there. It's funny how well it works
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm notsoKWYET:

This is really lovely...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - Especially if there's pizza involved :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@NSK - I highly recommend both these albums :-)
Avatar 3:48pm Sonderangebot:

I was obsessed with the cicadas sounds earlier!
  3:48pm Martinibomb:

I don't mind getting lost in the pizza maze cause I can eat thru the walls!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Sondy - It's lovely, isn't it? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MB - Wait .. Is the maze MADE of pizza? Oh ... well that changes everything :-) Put me down for THAT :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Franco Twinkie:

Yup, as soon as the little miss gets home I will go forage in the urban forest with a quiver full of arrows and shoot one out of a tree.
