Greetings, Testify faithfull!!! Here are a couple of words about what's to follow on Give the Drummer Radio this evening. (As if anything could follow Testify.)

From 5 to 7pm (ET), the great Matt Fiveash stops by for the last of his five Thursday specials here at his old stomping grounds.

From 7 to 10pm (ET), the Explorers Room with Flash Strap is usually on, but Hurricane Zeta has knocked out power in central North Carolina, so it's quite possible (likely) that there will be no Explorers Room this evening.

From 10pm to Midnight, Little Danny is back with a spectacular special: THE DEAD ROAM FREE on the Cool Blue Flame. Here is the program description: "Little Danny forges into the weird dark parts with two hours of lost supernatural terrors, R&B creepers, hillbilly graves, spectral rock 'n' roll, witchdoctor exotica, b-movie atmospherics, creaking electronics, and much, much more, including the SCREAM-O-SCOPE™ playing vintage '50s and '60s b-movie horror clips on the playlist page! Spooky clean fun!"

When the leader undermines the process how can there be a good outcome. Democrats are complicit for not provide credible opposition four years ago. It is just the same over here. Jeremy Corbin has been suspended today from the Labour Party for his poor handling of the antic Jewish actions of some of his party. He is also complicit for the poor election result in December giving the Conservatives a huge majority and therefore free reign.

The people who are complicit are the ones that either voted for fascists, or didn't bother to vote at all. We don't need a messiah. We need sane leadership.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:22pm
Funky16Corners:

@Brian - It also bears mentioning that electoral fatigue is a closed loop and self-fulfilling prophecy, part and parcel of the fuckery that brings to mind the old horror movie trope of "the call is coming from inside the house". There are a bunch of people inside government who don't want people to vote, or want to make it harder, and want to make people throw up their hands and walk away. The biggest revelation of the last four years is how flawed the machinery of our democracy is

I know from watching repeats of “The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour” and “This is Toms Jones” that Mel Stewart was part of the radical San Franciscan comedy troupe known as “The Committee” (I recall there was a whole chapter about them in Tony Hendra’s book “Going Too Far: the Rise and Demise of Sick, Gross, Black, Sophomoric, Weirdo, Pinko, Anarchist, Underground, Anti-establishment Humor).

In a very strange and weird way, I feel all damage that Trump (and his gutless Republican minions in the senate and the house) has done to this country has only made me that much more "patriotic." I still believe in this place -- I still believe the greatness is there because I always viewed the USA as the place that could change, evolve, and journey toward "excellence" faster than any other country out there. I've been shaken at my core -- but, I'd like to think there is hope.. that we all didn't watch a dream die because of complacency. Yes, I know... I'm still naïve in a lot of ways.

Most folks, when they hit middle-age, go through that "when I was your age" routine about how tough it was and "you don't know how lucky you've got it" to younger folks.

It's completely opposite for me. I sit back and say, "man, I had it dead easy." I wonder if I would have had the chutzpah to deal with what's in front of younger folks now.
