	5:11pm zivilars: did anybody here see the very strange todd haynes carpenters movie - the life of caren carpenter acted out with dolls? it was a VERY long time ago that I watched it and I can't really remember if if was good or just weird ...

	5:21pm zivilars: so if there was willingness (and the actual money) to pay the royality, the Carpenter family would have been fine with the movie (art-wise)? My memories of the movie are really, really dark, but the bulimia part e.g. was quite heavy, I guess?

	6:21pm notsoKWYET: One of the things that kept me up last night was thinking about Karen Carpenter's drumming... the narrative has always been that her record company kept her as a vocalist and just let her indulge a bit with drums but that truly wanted to be a drummer... When I watched the Herb Alpert doc he really casually mentions she just wasn't good enough to be a session drummer.... very very few people have the gift to be high level studio musicians and it is possible karen just wasn't... lots of our best drummers aren't great studio people

	♥ 6:25pm StringOFperils: Nobody wants a visionary backing them up, and no poet wants to be a great technician. Some people can do both, like Leon Russell up there, but not most. I think most folks want to do one thing, or the other, but not both.

	6:21pm notsoKWYET: One of the things that kept me up last night was thinking about Karen Carpenter's drumming... the narrative has always been that her record company kept her as a vocalist and just let her indulge a bit with drums but that truly wanted to be a drummer... When I watched the Herb Alpert doc he really casually mentions she just wasn't good enough to be a session drummer.... very very few people have the gift to be high level studio musicians and it is possible karen just wasn't... lots of our best drummers aren't great studio people

	♥ 6:25pm StringOFperils: Nobody wants a visionary backing them up, and no poet wants to be a great technician. Some people can do both, like Leon Russell up there, but not most. I think most folks want to do one thing, or the other, but not both.
