Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Jan Turkenburg:

and here we go! Welcome everybody!
  10:13am Purvis:

Is this "Flying Spegetti Monster"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am WR:

1954 remix. Does that make this over under?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Jan Turkenburg:

heavily under I'm afraid :-)
Avatar 10:23am StringOFperils:

Kinda makes me want to be hooked on the ceiling. But...it'll pass. HI THERE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi SOp!
Avatar 10:25am StringOFperils:

How goes the 'lockdown' scenario, Jan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am Jan Turkenburg:

At the end of the day, it doesn't affect my life too much, so I'm alright, but it's the thought of the world outside being upside again that shook me last week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am Jan Turkenburg:

And for us it's new to see everyone wearing facemasks in the supermarket. And I'm afraid however that some of my faourite places to have lunch or a drink won't survive this, as I speak to their owners...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am Jan Turkenburg:

I try to support them to get takeaways instead, but ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45am WR:

Swinging Hawaii came on just as I was reading that Nelstone's Hawaiians who are the 2nd cut on Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music were 2 men from southern Alabama. Not from Hawaii.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am Jan Turkenburg:

coïncedences exist and are beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am Jan Turkenburg:

omg I sound like Owl Sun...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50am WR:

LOL.
Avatar 10:54am StringOFperils:

Coincidence. Does it make you shiver?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Mx. Granny (e/em):

greetings, Jan and folx! i like these sounds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Granny!
Avatar 10:58am StringOFperils:

Toy cannon. The title reminds me that while I was walking a dog a week ago, I passed by a household that had placed a whole array of used children's toys out on the lawn, by the sidewalk, for people to take. ALL OF THEM were plastic assault weapons!
Avatar 11:01am StringOFperils:

Like a dozen of them! WTF?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Jan Turkenburg:

can't teach them young enough, hey...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Mx. Granny (e/em):

this is way goofy!
Avatar 11:09am StringOFperils:

Making up snappy uber-fascist aggressive English-language war lyrics to this happy jazzy 'Hawaiian' war chant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Lotis:

Good morning swingin' cats.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Lotis! Good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Loti:

Afternoon Jan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am Lot:

Feeling like watching the Village People's Can't Stop The Music....... again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Jan Turkenburg:

I played this friday at Focus. Some people find this take very disturbing. "wtf, does the world need this?' Me: "Yes!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Otis:

Me too!
Avatar 11:22am StringOFperils:

The World and WFMU don't have the same needs, obviously. And as far as I can see, the World has it all wrong.
Avatar 11:23am StringOFperils:

Now I wish I had used that as my pledge comment. Darn it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Otis:

Our little grotto (by your minds eye imagining) the sea, is quite the place to be buzzing bees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am WR:

You can use it next time SOp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Otis:

That's a good pledge comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Rich in Washington:

Jan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Otis:

I loved it, need to check out more Neil Cicierega now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Rich in Washington:

I nearly watched the 1978 Sgt. Pepper's movie when I saw that it's on Amazon Prime, but didn't, since I didn't have anything to drink in the house and would've probably ended up drinking cleaning products instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Jan Turkenburg:

LOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Rich in Washington:

sorry for the non sequitur. Can't Stop The Music made me think of it.
Avatar 11:32am StringOFperils:

Getting pretty used to things not making any sense whatsoever
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am WR:

What did the swag for life icon just turn into?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Mx. Granny (e/em):

i like this jaunty ditty!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am WR:

Never mind, what i was seeing went away. Damn, wish I got a screen shot..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Otis:

Oh no, Sgt Pepper. I can withstand many many disco musicals. Gimme The Apple. Gimme Xanadu. I will compost Thank God It's Friday and Sgt. Peppers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Rich: i'm still giggling about the Sgt Peppers comment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Otis:

Steve Guttenberg as a producer in Can't Stop, funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Yay, WFMU! Today i learned about Jurriaan Andriessen! Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Rich in Washington:

Hi Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Otis:

Whoa, Ramm! Gothic futurism at work here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Rich in Washington:

I love Rammellzee!
  11:37am Martinibomb:

whoa Rammellzee!! Did not expect to hear you play this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am WR:

Yes to Jurriaan Andriessen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Rich in Washington:

Noooobody expects Rammellzee! <in high-pitched Michael Palin/Cardinal Richelieu voice>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Jan Turkenburg:

There were two composers named Jurriaan Andriessens, the uncle and his nephew. The nephew was a friend of mine. He wrote one big piano piec. Hedwig's portrait that's both a painting and a music score.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Otis:

And sampling the classic Esther Williams cut. Ramm appears like the beat goes bop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Jan Turkenburg:

www.jurriaan-andriessen.nl...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am Mx. Granny (e/em):

is the painting the score?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Jan Turkenburg:

Technically not a painting, but lithograph, but yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am ARB:

Hello Felas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Mx. Granny (e/em):

marvelous!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Avatar 11:45am StringOFperils:

Avatar 11:49am StringOFperils:

This youth choir has a good pianist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Jan Turkenburg:

Louis van Dyke himself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51am Mx. Granny (e/em):

this isn't the tempo we dance to!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Mx. Granny (e/em):

although there may be less collisions at that march tempo
  11:55am Martinibomb:

LOL why yes I carry a pocket flute at all times - this story is hilarious
Avatar 11:56am Ursula1000:

hey Jan and everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Mx. Granny (e/em):

i would love to hear more from the Andriessen family!
  11:58am Martinibomb:

we're already on our third wave here. I think we're winning Jan.. so much winning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Mx. Granny (e/em):

hey hey hey U1K!
Avatar 11:58am StringOFperils:

Is Jurriaan Andriessen related to Louis Andriessen, Jan? (I am guessing that this is possible?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, Louis is one of Jur's other uncles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Jan Turkenburg:

And Hendik Andriessen, also composer was his grand father
Avatar 12:00pm StringOFperils:

Thanks, I thought it might be so. Quite a pedigree!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Jan Turkenburg:

btw, if you like to see something special, look up the videoclip of Rabies is a killer on youtube...
Avatar 12:08pm Ursula1000:

love Agony Bag!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hey U1K!
Avatar 12:20pm Feldpausch:

Amazing that this whole record is human voices. They Bobby McFerrin'd this whole brilliant album.
  12:22pm Martinibomb:

I want the power to Bobby McFerrin people! What a cool super power that would be
Avatar 12:24pm Feldpausch:

Martinibomb your costume would have handprints on it to represent where you slap your chest for some sick beats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi MB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm ARB:

I've mentioned this elsewhere but it bears repeating. A friend of mine performs as Body McFartin with his special talent of making fart noises with every body part, including laying shirtless on a table and backfarting the rhythm
  12:27pm Martinibomb:

^that's my kinda performance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Jan Turkenburg:

ah , un Petomane!
Avatar 12:30pm Mr Fab:

Body McFartin LOL!

Should there ever be a Sheena’s zoom talent show, plz tell me Mr McFartin would participate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Mr Fab!
Avatar 12:33pm Feldpausch:

Ali ha! I would see that. I bet loop machines have brought a whole new level to the musicianship of body noises in live performance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm ARB:

I haven't seen him do it since '08 but I'm signing him up
  12:35pm Martinibomb:

you should get him as a guest on your show ARB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Otis:

Don't worry, be farty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Jan Turkenburg:

hahahahahahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm ARB:

Good idea, I'm looking forward to having more guests.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm ARB:

I've got Karen Centerfold lined up as soon as we can meet in person
  12:37pm Martinibomb:

@ARB I just did a google search for him and a comment you made on Don-O's show in July about him is one of the only things that comes up Lol
  12:38pm Martinibomb:

you'd think if he did all that work to master the art of farts he'd put it on youtube
Avatar 12:39pm Feldpausch:

He's a true Fartist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm ARB:

LOL, I think a lot of my friends don't believe in youtube
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm ARB:

Ha, Feld!
Avatar 12:40pm spacebrother:

Hello Jan, and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Greg!
Avatar 12:42pm Mr Fab:

Jeezus, this is sacrilege!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Jan Turkenburg:

Sheena's Jungle Room, the channel where nothing is sacred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm ARB:

Hell has been raised
Avatar 12:44pm Mr Fab:

Everyone has to STOP covering “Heroes.” There’s a million covers and they all suck. Why, ppl, WHY? Tho this is kinda cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Jan Turkenburg:

So let me get this straight, Mr Fab, about my idea of doing a three hour Heroes Cover Special next week...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Jan Turkenburg:

it IS still on, isn;t it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm ARB:

Does Weird Al do a "We can eat heros"?
Avatar 12:47pm Mr Fab:

LOL Jan! True, nothing is sacred here, that’s my own damn fault! Naw, I like how this version completely flips the original.
Avatar 12:47pm Feldpausch:

ARB haaaaa! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Otis:

I wish people starting covering My Hero Zero from Schoolhouse Rock in the Bowie style.
Avatar 12:54pm spacebrother:

This is a treasured single I actually have.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm ARB:

Join the Cannibal Electorate here: www.wfmu.org... and vote for which direction Cannibal Stew will go in today. In 5 minutes....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm ARB:

Thanks Jan and Ducks and Dogs and Felas!
Avatar 12:56pm Mr Fab:

Now the Singing Dogs doing “Heroes” would be fine.
(We basically just need more singing dogs in this world in general.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

Always a treat, Jan! Thanks!
Avatar 12:57pm Feldpausch:

Thanks Jan! Great show as always
Avatar 12:58pm spacebrother:

Thank you Jan!
