Listener comments!

  8:55pm Matt in Carrboro:

Getting this question in early: any chance if there being a live-streamed Hanukkah event this year? Even for one night? I’m sure people would pay! Hope you can make it back to the Cradle sometime next year!
Swag For Life Member 8:58pm Ira:

Why wait till 9 pm? Is there a chance? Definitely. We're thinking about it, and hope to do something.
Swag For Life Member 9:02pm Ira:

As Matt in Carrboro has demonstrated, we're here to take your questions tonight (and tonight only). And if there's nothing you want to ask me, you can also ask my producer, Georgia. . . . Or you can ask . . . my mom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm mariano:

Hey there Ira, Crew, Irationalists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm Pauly from Clifton:

Hi Ira, Skeleton Crew, folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm Fuzzy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm spodiodi:

ahoy-hoy, Ira and inquiring minds!
  9:05pm Georgia:

I have a question for Ira: how do you spell Uglesisz... I still can’t spell it!
Swag For Life Member 9:05pm Ira:

Georgia, that's a trick question. It's unspellable.
  9:06pm Marilyn kaplan:

Still awake
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm spodiodi:

Q: How come I can't get no Tang around here?
  9:06pm Vince from Pearl:

Ira, Greetings. Who is your all-time favorite ballplayer
Avatar 9:07pm glennfromglendale:

Hello all, just threw the show on for the last hour of my bartending shift here on the L.E.S, if any listeners are local come thru and listen with me. East Broadway and Clinton st.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm mariano:

Hey, that was Bobby Bittman, wasn't it?
  9:08pm BH:

good evening from Missouri, where the Covid dashboard hasn't been updated since Saturday due to a database error
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm spodiodi:

sure sounded like him, mariano
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Uncle Michael:

@BH: hi neighbor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Uncle Michael:

Bobby on a telethon hosted by Sammy Maudllin?
Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Ira:

@Vince, when I was very young, it was Ron Swoboda (hope I spelled my favorite player's name right). Georgia saw Jacob deGrom on the street one day, that was exciting to even hear about.
Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Ira:

@Uncle Michael--the last episode of SCTV (on Cinemax) was a fundraiser to keep the station on the air. Sound familiar?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Rtintera:

Ira, what are some places in the country or world that you look forward to playing in because the fans are so dedicated? Maybe some places that we wouldn’t expect?
Avatar 9:12pm glennfromglendale:

Mookie Wilson taught me how to field ground balls at Mets baseball camp when I was a wee one. I used to talk to him from the stands when he was first base coach
  9:12pm Matt in Carrboro:

Hope we get some Question Mark and the Mysterians tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Uncle Michael:

Yes it does. I don't thing the Cinemax stuff is on DVD, is it?
Swag For Life Member 9:15pm Ira:

@Rtintera: I'd love to go back to Montana. We've only played there a couple of times, and it's always been fun. Georgia?
  9:16pm Stacey:

Are you still playing saxophone?
  9:16pm Tim 07030:

Favorite SCTV character? Throwing this one out to the entire panel.
Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Ira:

@Uncle Michael: sadly, no. It's not the best season, although Gimme Jackie might be the single greatest thing they ever did.
Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Ira:

@Stacey: Not at the moment. That's Pharoah Sanders. But my "horn" is at the ready, for whenever the time is right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Uncle Michael:

JR Jr. weirds me out, man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm Rtintera:

Funny, I saw you in Atlanta at the Playhouse and it was a very enthusiastic crowd!
  9:17pm Ignore Function:

How many states of the U.S. have you played, Ira?
  9:18pm Georgia:

@ira since you asked Japan
Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Ira:

@Rtintera: I hope you saw us at the Cotton Club when we all dressed as John Rocker and played "Let's Get Rid of New York." Love the Playhouse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Rtintera:

@georgia that makes sense. They will have tower records in Japan so...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Rtintera:

I missed the cotton club
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Rtintera:

Have you ever thought of writing a memoir and if so what aspect of your life would be the most interesting to focus on?
Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Ira:

@Ignore Function: not Alaska, Hawaii, Wyoming . . . Georgia, is there another one we haven't played?
  9:21pm Georgia:

@tim07030: mine is Sid dithers
  9:21pm Ignore Function:

And Georgia, too. Have you played every state in the U.S.?
Swag For Life Member 9:21pm Ira:

Rtintera: No memoir from me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Uncle Michael:

I have a soft spot for Woody Tobias Jr.
Avatar 9:22pm glennfromglendale:

@ira and @georgia how is the record collection organized? Genere? Alphabetically?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm captain beef fart:

From your heart and from your soul, why mustn't one contribute to WFMU hell raiser?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm spodiodi:

Guy Caballero
  9:23pm Georgia:

@ignore function: no! Alaska nor Hawaii and I think there is a Dakota we missed.
Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Ira:

@Tim: too many to name, but Libby Wolfson and Lola Heatherton are two favorites.
@Glennfromglendale: mostly alphabetically, but a bunch of the thrift-store stuff that Georgia is still wondering why I bought is on a high shelf that she never has to worry about.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Uncle Michael:

I can vouch for Kansas.
Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Ira:

Don't forget: My mom is standing by, pencil in hand, to answer your questions!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Rtintera:

What was the story behind you deciding to DJ on WFMU? Did you lose a bet with Ken? Did you ever have a show before?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm coelacanth∅:

greetings Ira and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Uncle Michael:

Mrs. K, was Ira spoiled by his grandparents?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm coelacanth∅:

i missed the memo. i'm not prepared with a question
  9:26pm Matt in Carrboro:

Hi Mrs. Kaplan, wonderful job at the Bowery Ballroom last year! I was in the room. First time I ever saw you perform after hearing about it over the years.
  9:26pm BH:

the references to Georgia made me think "wait, did they never play a show in Atlanta?"
  9:26pm Marilyn kaplan:

Pencil and photo album in hand
Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Ira:

@Rtintera: Not a lot of good things to say about 2020, but being stuck at home gave me the time to do a weekly show, and for some unknown reason, Ken agreed to give me one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm coelacanth∅:

(i can vouch for new paltz)
  9:28pm Rick G:

Hello Ira and Georgia and mom and all. Just tuned in to hear Alice Coltrane. Thankful for that! Question: what did you think of Mongolia?
Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Ira:

@coel...: all the News: Brunswick, Paltz, York City, not ...foundland.
  9:28pm Georgia:

Marilyn, was Ira spoiled by his grandparents?
Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Ira:

@Rick G: I believe that was the first time we met an ambassador.
  9:29pm Marilyn kaplan:

As I look back over highlights, Chanukah performance is in he top 5
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm Marley P. Dogg:

Ira - who are you rooting for? Rays or Dodgers?
  9:30pm Certain tiny little fishes:

Everybody be the whale you were meant to be!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Rtintera:

What was the idea or inspiration behind sleepless nights? Are you working on any other musical projects rn?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm mariano:

Boxers or briefs?

Sorry, I had to. It's a disease.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm coelacanth∅:

so, not new delhi?
Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Ira:

@Marley: Don't tell Allen Callaci or Steve Wynn, but the Rays. Any team that beats the Yankees is ok in my book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm coelacanth∅:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Marley P. Dogg:

Ira - agreed!
  9:32pm Marilyn kaplan:

Spoiled is a funny word. Grandparents love in a special way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Rtintera:

This is great
  9:35pm Georgia:

@rich g: I started to say it was the strangest place the band has played but that’s probably not true. Definitely the most polluted. Although German rock clubs in the 90s very very smoky. Astonishingly so. Creeps me out to think about it.o
  9:38pm Matt in Carrboro:

Are you planning to watch the Wet Hot American Summer table read fundraiser and are you peeved that all these table reads are copying your idea of the sitcom theater from the Spinning Wheel tour? If you could do another sitcom theater what would you pick? Veep? Parks & Rec Lil’ Sebastian episode?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Uncle Michael:

If Frank E Lee at WXRT did a reggae show...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm coelacanth∅:

(or if the bobbettes moved to jamaica)
Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Ira:

@coel...: that's correct, not Delhi either.
@Matt: Sitcom Theater belongs to the world now. You're welcome.
Avatar 9:40pm Greg Mottola:

I'm entering 40 minutes late and it seems like I've missed quite a bit
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Marley P. Dogg:

Greg - you must pay the toll and pledge
Avatar 9:42pm Greg Mottola:

This is to Ira and/or Georgia,
Favorite pedal steel guitar player?
  9:43pm Georgia:

@rtinera: sleepless night came together when the artist Yoshitomo Nara asked us to submit a side of a record of covers that he either suggested or approved of to be included in the museum retrospective book for his retrospective at LACMA just as everything was shut down this year. The other side ofTHAT record is a collection of 60s and 70s mostly folky music. Our version of this album is one sided. It takes me ages to type! I hope that helps.
That book is tremendous and tremendously expensive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm sboston:

Georgia/Ira, do either of you guys have a favorite Grateful Dead show?
Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Ira:

@sboston: I only saw the Dead a couple of times. I saw a really great Playin' in the Band in Hartford. Before we knew each other, Georgia and I both fell asleep at Jerry Garcia Band shows, but then again, who didn't?
  9:46pm Georgia:

Sboston.. ha ha ha. I never saw the dead.
Avatar 9:46pm glennfromglendale:

@ira @georgia @marilyn favorite stand up comedian?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm coelacanth∅:

Q: what does genius + Love = ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm coelacanth∅:

(just curious. someone told me you were a mathematician)
  9:51pm Georgia:

Greg: I always liked sneaky pete but also ben Keith.. and someone I more recently learned about the last few years marc orleans who sadly died recently.
Avatar 9:51pm Greg Mottola:

I'll look into him. I do love those first two.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Marley P. Dogg:

Ira and Georgia - loaded question - but what’s the best/most positive thing to come out of the lockdown? (Other than being able to listen to WFMU all day long)
  9:54pm Georgia:

Marilyn, stand up comedian?? I’ll think it over. I gotta go get Ira a beer.
Avatar 9:54pm glennfromglendale:

Will van horn is a great new-ish pedal steel guitar player out of Houston, check out his album it’s great. Turns the pedal steel into a real party at the live shows
  9:54pm John L:

I missed a lot. coelacanthØ, what about New Paltz?
  9:54pm Marilyn kaplan:

Comedians of my generation..
Marx Brothers, early Joan Rivers, Buddy Hackett, Maxwell Smart
  9:55pm Stacey:

@Ira - When the Garcia band did The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down or a slow Knockin on Heavens Door it could make one drowsy. Try the November 1991 Hampton show (YouTube). It’s full of soul!
  9:55pm Georgia:

Marley Dogg: cooking. Lots of home cooking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm coelacanth∅:

what kind of cheese goes best with grapefruit marmalade?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Marley P. Dogg:

Georgia- that’s great! Home cooking is the best
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm sboston:

Georgia/Ira, another "dead" question... what's the best album by The Dead C?
Avatar 9:57pm Hoboken Jack:

Hello Mrs. Kaplan (big fan since Maxwell's), Ira, Georgia, skeleton, Tim (big fan since Maxwell's), everybody. Happy birthday Neil!
Avatar 9:57pm Greg Mottola:

Thanks for the tip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm coelacanth∅:

John -i saw yo la tengo there. someone asked what states the band hadn't played in
  9:58pm Certain tiny little fishes:

Marilyn Kaplan knows time.

I hope "Spinning Wheel" was not on the spinning wheel.
  9:59pm John L:

I live in New Paltz. I saw YLT play the Rhino store there, as well as up in Kingston.
  10:00pm Dungaroos Kipawah:

Oh yeah! One of my fave Sir Doug songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Marley P. Dogg:

Georgia/Ira (please forgive me Ira’s mom) - just about out of wine - should I have an edible?
  10:00pm John L:

I mean I saw them at BSP in Kingston.
  10:00pm Matt in Carrboro:

Mrs. K: loved Get Smart reruns! 86 + 99 forever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm karlward:

Ira’s mom: what is the weirdest false thing you have ever heard about your son on the Internet?
  10:00pm ariella:

Question for Marilyn, how did you get the Kaplan boys to go to/stay asleep when they were babies/toddlers? No reason... thank you in advance!
  10:01pm Worm:

Hi to Marilyn
Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Ira:

@sboston: Georgia and I saw The Dead C in Dunedin, jetlagged to the point of collapse, and it was out of this world fantastic. If that's on an album, that's the best one, for sure.
  10:02pm Georgia:

Marleydogg. Yes to the edible.. but you gotta stock up on the wine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Marley P. Dogg:

Georgia and Ira - if you were to name Matt Warwick’s new puppy - what would you name him/her?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Uncle Michael:

The garbage man got the pick of the litter?
Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Ira:

Our niece for some reason we can't figure out chose not to name her new puppy Pretzel. Matt likes Steely Dan, right? Doesn't everybody?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm coelacanth∅:

John we probably know each-other! are you familiar with Jack's rhythms?
  10:04pm Georgia:

mdodd: that’s a question for my nephew Max. He tried to name his sisters dog but that name was rejected.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Marley P. Dogg:

Georgia - thanks - I know - I should stop shopping one day at a time Europe style
  10:05pm Georgia:

Oops bad typing M Dogg I meant.l
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Gaylord Fields:

Hi, Ira, Georgia, and Marilyn! This is for anyone who chooses to answer: If you could go back in time and see any one musical performance, what would it be?
  10:05pm John L:

Until April I was the owner of Jack's.I worked for jack for several years before that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Uncle Michael:

Steely Dan: My first concert act (they opened).
  10:06pm Phil K:

@Ira and Georgia: what’s your favorite Steely Dan album?
  10:06pm Matt in Carrboro:

I just started piano lessons a month ago after giving it up in elementary school. What song should I learn tonight? Already got the chords to Autumn Sweater down!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm coelacanth∅:

i thought so!
  10:07pm Georgia:

@gaylord ELVIS!
Swag For Life Member 10:07pm Ira:

@Uncle Michael: still kicking myself for not going to see the Countdown to Ecstasy (@Phil K--my favorite) lineup when I had the chance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm coelacanth∅:

i'm sorry but i won't reveal my human name here but i'll tell you next time i see you.
  10:08pm John L:

Georgia and Ira, have you been watching a lot of films? Any 2020 stand outs or older, newly discovered gems?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Gaylord Fields:

Love that answer, Georgia!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm coelacanth∅:

(we've been acquainted for ~20 years)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Uncle Michael:

I knew nothing. I was twelve. Can't Buy A Thrill. Bread still managed to follow them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm coelacanth∅:

Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Somm Ben:

This Flipper song is the soundtrack of my mind these last 4 years
  10:09pm ?:

Not sure why my sister didn't go with Pretzel either. It's still for the taking if anyone wants it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Uncle Michael:

For me it would be the MC5 at the Grande.
  10:10pm ?:

Hi all
  10:10pm Stacey:

Was Helen Shapiro at any of the Kaplan bar mitzvahs? Oy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm leshwatt:

Hey all. Looks like I’m late to the party again. I will self destruct later.
Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Ira:

It only occurred to me right now--which means too late--to follow this up with Earth Wind & Fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Gaylord Fields:

@Stacey: Helen Shapiro converted to Christianity, although that's not a disqualifying event.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Uncle Michael:

I'd let Helen do my haftorah portion. Her voice changed better than mine.
  10:11pm John L:

coelacanthØ, ok!!!
Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Somm Ben:

Ira, I appreciate the Flipper / Earth Wind Fire segue. Next show!
  10:12pm Marilyn Kaplan:

How can I explain my relationship with the internet. I can google send emails and play words with friends, and not much else? Sentences start with “would you please”
Swag For Life Member 10:13pm Ira:

@Gaylord: definitely not a disqualification. The Kaplans were not sticklers for tradition.
  10:13pm Stacey:

@ Gaylord Fields you’ve got the dirt on Helen! ✡️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Gaylord Fields:

@Ira: I just thought her possibly handing out Jack Chick tracks might not be how you'd want to be ushered into manhood.

@Stacey: I'd like to think of myself as the Kaplan family spiritual adviser, even if they don't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Gaylord Fields:

*Jack Chick tracts
  10:16pm Georgia:

@john L: first cow only 2020 film I saw this year in a theater, loved it. Just watched Born to Kill w Laurence Tierney and Claire Trevor on TCM the other night. Great.
  10:17pm Marilyn Kaplan:

The Kaplan Bar Mitzvas were a fiction perpetrated by my mother
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm Uncle Michael:

I bid you all a good night. The cat insists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Marley P. Dogg:

Uncle Michael, I, for one welcome our cat overlords
  10:20pm Stacey:

Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Ira:

Goodnight, UM, thanks for dropping by!
  10:21pm Jon:

Love this DC
  10:21pm Marilyn Kaplan:

Avatar 10:22pm Greg Mottola:

Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Ira:

@Marilyn Kaplan: Not necessarily.
  10:22pm Gary:

  10:25pm John L:

Georgia, I just bought First Cow, sight unseen, since I love/own all of Kelly Reichardt's films. Plan on watching real soon. Born To Kill is great; for more Lawrence Tierney check out The Devil Thumbs A Ride and for more Claire Trevor, Raw Deal.
Avatar 10:26pm Greg Mottola:

@Ira Definitely not!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Marley P. Dogg:

Favorite Fela album? Or is that just a question I ask myself every day
Avatar 10:26pm Greg Mottola:

@Ira not too late that is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Gaylord Fields:

Ira, what was the first 45 you ever bought, and what was the most recent 45 you've bought?
  10:28pm Marilyn Kaplan:

In answer to Gregg’s question, what was the question
Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Ira:

@Gaylord: Ruby Tuesday was the first (and no, I was not cool enough to be buying it for Let's Spend the Night Together). Most recent . . . most recent . . . buying records through the mail just not as exciting or as memorable as buying them at Caldor's.
  10:29pm Slaboch:

Perfect soundtrack of Nolan & the Diablos as I'm reading the new Mind Over Matter book while listening tonight. Only 497 more pages to go!
Avatar 10:31pm Greg Mottola:

New question for Marilyn!: do you recall any notable Halloween costumes for Ira? Or did he not partake in such pagan rituals?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm coelacanth∅:

LeBron or MJ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm coelacanth∅:

Asking this question on behalf of my friend Dr. Chris with his 7 pagers - favorite dance song?
Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Ira:

@Marley: I miss the Subway Soul Club.
  10:38pm Marilyn Kaplan:

I HATED HALLOWEEN. I didn’t think of calling it pagan rites, but I probably should have. They did participate and I hope I was gracious
  10:39pm ariella:

@Marylin Kaplan thank you!
Avatar 10:40pm glennfromglendale:

@ira and @gerogia I absolutely adore your cover of George McCrae’s “You can have it all”. That McCrae album is one of my all time favorites, was that cover due to a love of the song or a love of the Roland drum machine?
  10:40pm Matt in Carrboro:

Western or Eastern NC barbecue? Or Memphis or Texas or Kansas City if you like.
Avatar 10:40pm Greg Mottola:

@Marilyn: I can't blame you. I grew up in the suburbs and I'm sure it was a night to dread for many parents.
  10:42pm eh:

I was also not a big fan of halloween, although I liked leila's chart itemizing the contents of her pillowcase-full of candy - hi Marilyn!
  10:43pm Tim 07030:

Altuve just made another error. Bahahaha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Gaylord Fields:

I especially hated Halloween, because it required me to do my least favorite thing (dressing up in a costume) to accomplish my favorite thing (receiving free candy).

This Is a fun comment board, thx. But yest, John Schaefer of wnyc highlighted a new Yo La Tengo record. I'll donate to wnyc (haha).
Avatar 10:47pm Joe B:

@Tim - In honor of Daryl Hall's birthday yesterday, I watched Chariots of Eggs six times in a row. William B has one of his finest moments, telling Bobby what a great job he did on the film, then admitting to not having seen it nor knowing what it was even about
  10:49pm eh:

marilyn - 2 part question. do you have a favorite candy? a favorite Trader Joe's product? I loved the beet hummus but they discontinued it.
Avatar 10:50pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Hi Marilyn! Was Ira a picky eater as a kid? If so, what foods did he refuse to eat?
Avatar 10:52pm glennfromglendale:

Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Ira:

@Joe B: that one's easy. I was at Tom Seaver's near perfect game. Not only that, but somehow my dad had gotten 4 seats in the PRESS BOX. Bill Shea's seats!

  10:58pm Georgia:

joe b: Probably one of those freezing cold early spring games with a rain delay sipping watery ballgame hot chocolate trying to stay warm!

I have thankfully lost all interest in candy, but Trader Joe beef or turkey frozen meatballs are quite good and convenient, and many of their frozen hors d’oeurves

@gaylord - my favorite preteen world character - Stephan's hair!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm Gaylord Fields:

@Ira: Wow!!! I'm so envious! But then, I was at the infamous 1985 Banner Day doubleheader immortalized in the song "Baseball Altamont" — I saw a different fistfight practically every inning of the second game!
Swag For Life Member 10:59pm Ira:

@herb: We had a day off in Dallas years ago and chose to go see the Texas Tornados instead of Nolan Ryan pitching for the Rangers. Even though Ryan got creamed with a batted ball, something like that, we didn't regret the decision for a moment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Gaylord Fields:

Georgia, what cherished item from your childhood do you still possess, if any? If none, is there one you wish you still had?

@Ira - I figured that would be your answer!

@georgia - wow, I was never into those cold april games. i mean, i still went, but ...
Avatar 11:02pm Joe B:

also, kudos to the Miracles for also doing the false ending on their version of Do You Love Me. (Unless it was the same backing track, and they had no choice)

  11:04pm Phil K:

@Ira and Georgia Thank you for the three times you’ve played San Antonio. Hope to see you back here again. Is it true that your version of Little Honda was inspired by hearing local favorites Big Drag? Or is that just rumor?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm coelacanth∅:

Joe i especially like the way it came back up -with a little more of a bang than the contours version
  11:05pm eh:

I and/or G- out of all the ones you attended over the years, what was your favorite uncomfortable Ponderosa Stomp musical moment (example: Nokie Edwards playing Tears in Heaven)?
Avatar 11:05pm Joe B:

@coelacanth∅: yes, didn't sound like the same backing track, but with motown you can never be too sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm Gaylord Fields:

@Georgia: It's so sweet that you still have Bologna Salami (love the name!), and your having never written its name before indicates you haven't done anything as crass as insure Bologna Salami.
Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Ira:

Re: Do You Love Me. I was thinking while it was playing that the same way all guitarists learn Chuck Berry riffs, well, most of them do, all engineers learn to do the quick fade out/in for Do You Love Me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm Gaylord Fields:

@Matt F: I'd like to think they were probably already acclimated to hearing Tears in Heaven at unexpected moments after ? and the Mysterians played it at my wedding reception for K.'s and my first dance.

Joe b: ok, those were not my favorite game experiences and yet somehow being a knucklehead among a few other knuckleheads who insist on staying till the end of a wet and cold game, that let’s face it the Mets were likely losing, is weirdly a fond memory.
Avatar 11:11pm Joe B:

There's a Rotary Connection connection to that Emotions track (yes I have no life)

at some point i'm going to have to hear a vocal version of mother-in-law
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Gaylord Fields:

@Todd-o-phonic Todd: It's gotta be strange and a little disconcerting for some of these artists to have people interested in the stupid record they made as a 19-year-old that sold zippo, rather than their later "mature" work.

Avatar 11:14pm Joe B:

@georgia - I know what you mean. When the Mets were out of it in September in the early 2000s, the big shots at the Daily News had long lost interest in the team so the tickets would filter down to us slobs - many great Thursday afternoon games with about 3,000 people in the stands, and warmer weather than april!
  11:14pm Michael Shore:

@northguineahills thanks

Avatar 11:17pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Gaylord Fields: Irma Thomas said the greatest thing I've ever heard from a "heritage artist" (and this was back in the 80's). She had just finished doing some of her Imperial sides and said, "Now that I've sung some songs that you like, I'm going to sing a song that I like". She proceeded to perform "Simply The Best" by Tina Turner.
  11:18pm Marilyn Kaplan:
