GG, ha, i am SO not surprised you ended with 'Porpoise Song"! Perfect. (The mentioned Rodney used to end his shows with it.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - I love that song SO much :-)
Avatar 7:03pm Mr Fab:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm Rich in Washington:

Cool!
Dr. D used to give these annual lecture series at his Alma Mater here in Portland but hasn't in recent years.
  7:04pm ARB:

That rules!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

That is such a cool ident :-)
  7:06pm ARB:

I'm really excited for this show. Dancing around my kitchen already.
Avatar 7:07pm Mr Fab:

speaking of the masterful arrangement on 'Porpoise Song"!, a tribute set or show to Jack Nitzsche wouldn't be a bad idea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Sheena - behave yourself!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Spacebrother!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Rich in Washington:

The stream keeps cutting in. Stupid technology.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yeah - I'm getting that too :-(
Avatar 7:13pm Mr Fab:

Same here - show's cutting out, Greg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Mx. Granny (e/em):

that makes it unanonymous!
Avatar 7:14pm spacebrother:

It looks good from here. Dammit, i don't know what's going on.
Avatar 7:15pm Mr Fab:

You using Don-O's studio?
Avatar 7:16pm spacebrother:

Still bad?
Maybe I'll reconnect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yep, still cutting out
Avatar 7:19pm spacebrother:

OK now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Aitch:

A bit demented....
  7:20pm ARB:

Was Lorena a repeat offender? I feel like she did something bad to her next husband. She's cool though.
Avatar 7:20pm Martinibomb:

wax on wax off - cut in cut out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Silence :-(
Avatar 7:21pm Mr Fab:

I've noticed that when you cut out, and i hit 'refresh,' the audio returns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Sheena's drunk again, the naughty girl!
Avatar 7:22pm Martinibomb:

this is the same thing that happens to me with GG's shows all the time cut/in out and it drops it and I have to restart
Avatar 7:23pm Mr Fab:

the stuff from the SHeena stream that cuts in is often appropriately Demento-like.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Rich in Washington:

we can hear you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - It's been very stream of consciousness :-)
Avatar 7:23pm Martinibomb:

yeh I can hear ya
Avatar 7:24pm spacebrother:

Hope this works for the rest of the show.
Avatar 7:26pm Martinibomb:

just cuts in/out like u are using wifi etc..
Avatar 7:26pm Mr Fab:

thats brilliant GG, the Stream of Consciousness, dang how come I never thought of that?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - :-)
Avatar 7:28pm Mr Fab:

9 coronas. And now the COVID total is up to 19.
  7:34pm chillroom:

When I worked customer service at Rhino, if I couldn't answer the music question, and the folks in A&R couldn't, I would call Barry Hansen and ask him. Every question I ever asked him -- questions that stumped us collectors at Rhino -- Dr D could answer off the top of his head. Always blew me away and was always friendly as could be. Hi Greg!
Avatar 7:35pm spacebrother:

Holy Crap Chill!!
Avatar 7:35pm spacebrother:

He'd just answer the phone? Wow.
  7:36pm chillroom:

It became a regular thing after awhile.
Avatar 7:42pm Mr Fab:

that's amazing. The human music wiki. The man was a public service!
  7:44pm ARB:

If there is a Doctor Demento gene, I certainly have it
Avatar 7:45pm spacebrother:

@ ARB - I think we all do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The DJ Gene ;-)
Avatar 7:45pm Mr Fab:

biology would call a Dr Demento gene a "beneficial mutation."
Avatar 7:50pm Mr Fab:

argh, cut put again. And I'm pretty sure that you DON'T use wi-fi, right Spacebro?
Avatar 7:50pm spacebrother:

I don't, no.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Did I imagine this or was there a US DJ called The Weird Beard? 60s?
Avatar 7:56pm Mr Fab:

don't know the Weird Beard, but I think I'm already a fan!
Avatar 7:56pm spacebrother:

@ GG - Not out of the realm of possibility, but I'm drawing a blank. Yes, I may already be a fan!
Avatar 7:56pm Mr Fab:

"Monster Hash" was a good one. Same band that did "Smoke Two Joints"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

There was a super old BBC radio show about John Peel and I vaguely remember this ident about him
Avatar 7:57pm spacebrother:

@ Fab - Yes, the same guys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Kind of like a female Joe Meek style singer singing "The Weird Beard" over Sheena type music. I'll have to dig into Google! :-)
Avatar 7:58pm spacebrother:

I guess they were just a bunch of stoners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Aha!! Russ Knight - KLIF in Dallas! Apparently, he knew Jack Ruby and so was investigated by the FBI after the Kennedy assassination.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The Anniversary Anthem made me think of his ident :-)
Avatar 8:00pm spacebrother:

Running over a little.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm Rich in Washington:

remember this so well!
Avatar 8:00pm spacebrother:

@ GG - WOW! Mind blown.
Avatar 8:01pm Mr Fab:

so The Toyes were just all about substance abuse in general, eh, heh heh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Rich in Washington:

This totally brings me back to the 6th or 7th grade when I first discovered Doctor D.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Excellent show today! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm Rich in Washington:

Cool show, spacebrother! Long live Dr. Demento!
  8:03pm ARB:

Delightful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Yes we are :-)
Avatar 8:04pm spacebrother:

This show really brought me back. I used to listen to DD when I was a kid and all they way through college and after.
Avatar 8:04pm spacebrother:

Thanks to all the cats and kittens for listening and commenting!
