RIP to the Reverend John Wilkins who passed away last week at the age of 76 (just a few days before his birthday) from COVID-19. That shit is real.

I love this Skip James--thanks Nate!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Nate K.:

@Chop, Skip is definitely one of the most fascinating of those early blues guys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm ultradamno:

I've heard he could be ornery
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Nate K.:

@Ultra, Tim Warren or Skip James?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm ultradamno:

Skip
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm ultradamno:

Tempermental might be a better word.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Nate K.:

Yeah, that book The Devil and Skip James makes him seem pretty tough. It's been a while since I read it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Chop Scott:

There is a fantastic Skip James issue of session recordings "I'd Rather Be The Devil" from 1931(!) that Cherry Red under Rev-Ola put out in 2007.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm Nate K.:

"I'd Rather Be the Devil" is the name of the book I was thinking of. Like I said, it's been a while since I read it. I'll check that out, Scott.
Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Ignore Function:

Great show, Nate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Nate K.:

@Ignore, thank you, sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm Nate K.:
