Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

Ahoy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hey diciassette :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Welcome to the Acid Jazz Hands All Stars, where we count down the songwriters played most on the show to discover who takes home the crown of #1 Acid Jazz Hands All Star!!! Who will it be??? Guesses are welcome ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Bronwyn Bishop:

And so are PLEDGES!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm WR:

I can't count. Nothing adds up these days. And I had no idea Mambo Italiano has musical connects.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm diciassette:

I think there's a ~1950 movie called Mambo with Sylvana Mangano in it that I need to acquire
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm WR:

Which goes to show that I am now learning of Bob Merrill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Webhamster Henry:

Lerner & Loewe so far down the list? hmm!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm diciassette:

Richard seems to be singing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@Henry: This song represents just Loewe- what I somehow forgot to factor in when I got this idea was that partners wouldn't necessarily have the same play count, so some people are being played twice. I have another Lerner & Loewe song much higher up to represent Lerner since I've played him more
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Webhamster Henry:

Ranking collaborators is difficult!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm diciassette:

Standing by ready to cheer _____ with a quarantini!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Somehow even Kander & Ebb weren't tied
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm diciassette:

Go Philly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Quick note that this show is really long lol. Like 20 minutes of OT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm diciassette:

Go overtime!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm WR:

Yay Overtime. Did you notify the "authorities" so that it will all be archived. I am still bummed that your 00s Dance Party show was not archived.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I did and I actually am able to send the file of the 00s dance party to John our archiving guy to archive it, I just haven't cause I suck. But you have inspired me to do that today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Webhamster Henry:

I saw Seesaw in 1973 - I thought it was awfully corny. It was the second show at the brand-new Uris theatre the first was Via Galactica). That place is now called the Gershwin.
  7:33pm Doug Schulkind:

Happy anniversary, Bronwyn. What a wonderful year of fabulous radio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Webhamster Henry:

However, Tommy Tune was great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Bronwyn Bishop:

My mom got to work with Tommy Tune once!! (i forget in what capacity)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Aw thanks Doug!!! <3 so honored to be part of the wonderful Drummer Stream :)))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Webhamster Henry:

That era Tommy Tune is well captured in the movie "The Boy Friend".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm diciassette:

^ hai!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm diciassette:

Loved him in that film!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm WR:

Thanks for that because I would like to revisit the show but honestly don't want to "collect" the music in it.
Avatar 7:38pm still b/p:

I also saw Seesaw in '73. But recollection of anything other than a simple image of Tommy dancing is at the brain's intresection of vague and lost.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Bronwyn Bishop:

i wish i could have seen it :( or any of the 70s shows
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Webhamster Henry:

Next time, get born earlier!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm Bronwyn Bishop:

For my next life I plan to be born in 1950. 19 at Woodstock, in my 20s in the 70s, etc
Avatar 7:41pm still b/p:

I saw Pippin, A Little Night Music, Sleuth and Irene that same summer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Oh yeah well last summer I saw the Carole King jukebox musical, the Tina Turner jukebox musical AND the Bob Dylan jukebox musical! Beat that ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm Bronwyn Bishop:

To be fair, I also saw Hadestown and the amazing Oklahoma revival, and the Bob Dylan jukebox musical was weird and beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm doctorjazz:

Hi Bronwyn and Jazzers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Bronwyn Bishop:

also I guess Tina and the Dylan show were actually in the winter
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hi doctorjazz :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm diciassette:

You and your bloody bananas
Avatar 7:45pm still b/p:

Uhhh. I can't beat that hand. Cuz after '73 I never saw a show on Broadway again untll Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk in the 90s, and ain't seen none after that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Bronwyn Bishop:

well bring in da noise is a great one!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Webhamster Henry:

Yeah - I don't remember the last Broadway musicals I went to onsite. Off Broadway and local stuff, sure. Probably one of the Sweeney Todds, which I saw three times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Bronwyn Bishop:

my last one was that bob dylan one, girl from the north country, just a few days before the shutdown
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Webhamster Henry:

We'll all be seeing Zoomusicals for some time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm doctorjazz:

Happy Anniversary Bronwyn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm diciassette:

tanti auguri!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Thank you!!! Today is also the one year anniversary at my job haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Webhamster Henry:

A whole year is lots more than those turkeys in Not Since Carrie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Bronwyn Bishop:

If I were a show I would probably have recouped my investment by now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm Webhamster Henry:

Investor House Seats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm doctorjazz:

Billie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02pm diciassette:

Bernstein! **sip**
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm Webhamster Henry:

Can you visualize Lenny banging this out on the piano for investors?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I LOVE visualizing that. i imagine one investor nodding off, one looks confused and one is SUPER into it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm diciassette:

hahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm doctorjazz:

Now you've got my whole family singing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm Cmurtha:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Avatar 8:10pm northguineahills:

Avatar 8:13pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm WR:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hey ngh, you are for sure doing it right, I love that :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm doctorjazz:

Lower ph syncopated music phalanges to YOU, NGH,!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm doctorjazz:

(Phalanges are actually fingers...maybe low oh syncopated music distal upper extremities, but now I'm being picky)
Avatar 8:20pm northguineahills:

carpals??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm doctorjazz:

Sure, where are we driving to? (Be-da-boom!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm WR:

Low pH Autophysiopsychic Distal Upper Extremities?
Avatar 8:26pm northguineahills:

I could go for that, WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm doctorjazz:

Yusef Latif reference, touche!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm WR:

As usual I go to Wikipedia for reference.

Low pH Autophysiopsychic Prehensile Multi-digit Appendage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm doctorjazz:

You said a mouthful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm WR:

I think your carpal / car pal interpolation was quite entertaining, and fast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm Jeff Golick:

Hi. Select numbers from RAGS were in permanent rotation in my kids' Brooklyn elementary school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm doctorjazz:

I Thought I had driven it of the road.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Hi Jeff! Now THAT is interesting...why??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm Jeff Golick:

For the US historical elements, I guess? Tied into the curriculum somehow. Every spring: "Rags!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm WR:

Well kids, I gotta go, work emergency. Laters all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm doctorjazz:

Bye, WR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm Bronwyn Bishop:

@Jeff: I wish we had listened to Rags in my elementary school instead of weird modern Wiccan songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59pm Bronwyn Bishop:

it suddenly occurs to me that tonight i've played michael crawford twice in VASTLY different contexts, which is funny as i don't think i've ever played him before
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Webhamster Henry:

Hello Phantom! the crossover musical!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm Bronwyn Bishop:

i would love that. dolly could find love for the phantom- it would be her greatest challenge yet, but she could do it. then he wouldn't have to murder anyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02pm diciassette:

Nancy Walker!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm diciassette:

❤️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm diciassette:

Cole Porter jumps into the lead, five minutes into overtime..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I thought Porter might win, but not quite...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm diciassette:

we've washed that man right out of our hair!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm diciassette:

I think this is better than wrestling, for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm doctorjazz:

Sondheim?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I once saw a post on the Broadway reddit community about which composers and lyricists would win a cage match between all of them. I think the winner ended up being Bobby Lopez beating everyone else up with his millions of awards
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm diciassette:

I am on the edge of my seat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm doctorjazz:

The tensioni s unbelievable!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm doctorjazz:

Really fun, Well Done, Bronwyn, thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Webhamster Henry:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm Webhamster Henry:

Here's where you pitch for the Hellraiser! I see you have a special all-Spooky version coming up at the end of the month.
