Looks primo. 9:26am Bob Brainen:Tannersville checkin' in, hey Listener Bop Monroe. 9:27am Listener Bop Monroe::-) 9:29am Really Lisa:UM, same as tdk here! Plus now I’ve got your Gibb bros show clicky’d from archives :) 9:30am James in ATL:Bob, So happy you are back! What a great show! 9:33am Listener Bop Monroe:it is available on the repackage of early aughts Hard Days Night DVD from *shudder* Miramax. 9:37am Bob Brainen:Ya know, sometimes it's good to do research ~before~ you speak. Tony Allen was from Nigeria! Oy.
Hey to James in ATL,
Bop, is the movie watchable??
9:38am TDK60:I was going to correct you on the geography, Bob. But I held back. Hee.. 9:38am Andrew in Toronto:You nailed it will th Tony Allen take. 9:39am 1whoknewcthulhu:Wow--The Left Banke goes garage! Who'd a thunk? 9:41am Bob Brainen:Oh I appreciate corrections when they're done w/grace, thanks TDK. 9:41am egould310:Good morning from foggy, cool Seattle. Thanks, Bob for another great show. Forty minutes in, and you’ve already blown my mind, twice. Thanks! 9:44am Uncle Michael:Loved that Jimmy Webb. 9:44am Cooh John:Hello, Bob. Love your show. Sublime and superb. Glad to see you back. 9:44am J&E in Ithaca NY:So great to have Bob back on the air! Hey J&E in Ithaca NY, talk about cool places~
Thanks Cool John.
UM, took me a second listen to ~get~ the Webb piece, he is some player!
9:50am Corey:Good morning Bob and listeners! Once again, the best part of waking up on Saturday mornings. 9:51am TDK60:That Villa-Lobos was fine. I came across that album once but it was too scratchy to play. But someone had loved it prior, obviously. 🥁 9:52am WilliamfromDumont:Harry Smith, what a character. 9:53am Listener Bop Monroe:Hard Days Night is always watchable!
The Running Jumping Standing Still Film is basically a guy with a super 8 camera with a few friends in a hilly field doing silly stuff in 10-20 second bits. proto-pythonish, imagine 5 mins of the fish slapping dance mixed with benny hill but no girls.
9:55am doctorjazz:Mornin', folks! 9:56am anon in Louisiana:hey DJ Bob and bones, thanks somuch for your show today it's wonderful so far as always :) 9:57am Mike East:Good morning Bob. It's been nice to hear you back on Saturday mornings. 9:57am Uncle Michael:Bob, we say Jimmy perform in 2019. I could have done with one less Glen Campbell story and one solo piano piece! 9:59am egould310:That Lan Adomian tune has sent me down a rabbit hole. More great music I need to explore. Later this afternoon, of course. :-) 9:59am Bob Brainen:Thanks Corey, welcome.
TDK60, I took that from a really nice CD on Rev-ola's el label.
Wm. : Yeah Smith's impact was astounding, the Lomaxes too, and other lesser known ethnomusicologists. We're all the richer for it.
anon in Louisiana-thx and welcome to you.
UM, I hear you.
10:09am thanks to brave DJs:Great show so far Bob glad to see you’ve mastered the from home technology loved the left bank stuff and the Jimmy Webb was a big surprise thanks for doing what you do have a good one man 10:10am thanks to brave DJs:This is Bob Greiza from ...Nothing Follows 10:13am doctorjazz:Love those ringing guitars! 10:14am mojo61:Greetings from Sheeshcago. It's so nice to hear your laid back voice and the great music you share on Saturday mornings again, Bob. 10:16am Pedro in Arlington:Woody Guthrie died 53 years ago today at Creedmoor State Hospital in Queens. 10:17am Greg from ZONE 5:Morning Bob & all! 10:18am Bob Brainen:Thx Bob G, it was a lot of work and I had a LOT of help!
Sheeshcago- I absolutely love the cold but I'm not sure I could take the wind of a Chi. Winter or from Lake Cauga!
10:22am mojo61:Before the Trump Pandemic, I typically stayed out too late on Friday nights to be awake at 9am/8am Central Time for your show. Not so for now but it's one of the few things I can put in the "positive results" column of this time of constant weirdness. Thank you. 10:25am Bob Brainen:Welcome Greg & Pedro!
Aw, thanks mojo61.
10:26am Jasen:Great show. Thanks, Bob. 10:31am Ross T.:Makin' love to rainbow colors -- now we're gettin' somewhere.... 10:31am Listener Bop Monroe:swordfish! 10:38am Bob Brainen:Thanks Jasen,
hey Ross T.
10:38am mojo61:I hear ya! No one moves here (or there for that matter) for the weather. Chicago has 2 seasons; Winter and August! I grew up at the Shore and lived for decades in NYC and when I was preparing to move here I scoffed at the weather warnings. After all, NYC winters can be pretty rough, too. Long, grey, wet, and usually quite brutal. I live right on the lake and the final block of my walk home is like an aeronautic wind tunnel with gusts that almost knock one over. Icy winds that bite and cold that cuts deep into bones. Some of us resemble Marcel Marceau walking against the wind without even trying! 10:40am Ted Brinkley:Very glad to find you on the air again, Bob! Thanks for the sounds. 10:41am gene sculatti:Hi, Bob. Just tuned in. So great to hear you back on. 10:41am Jan Bruschetta:Bob, so great to hear you and your tunes back on the radio. Howdy! 10:42am Ross T.:Foreign language Youngbloods! This what I have missed the past few years! 🥁 10:43am WilliamfromDumont:Grizzly Bear in Italian? Wow. 10:43am KevinfromBayRidge:Hey Bob & Brainenacs All. It's truly wonderful to have you back! 10:43am Jan Bruschetta:Seriously (I have nothing to do with Ted or gene). 10:45am Bob Brainen:Mojo61, that's a funny image.
Hey Gene & Ted-2 of my favorites!
Hey Jan & Ross T.
10:48am Andrew in Toronto:Thanks for the NRBQ, Bob! 10:50am Marc Francis:I like this song. 10:54am TDK60:Fun sounds this Saturday morn, Bob. 10:54am Bob Brainen:My pleasure Andrew.
Glad you dug, Marc.
10:55am Andrew in Toronto:Thanks once again for the great show, Bob. 10:58am Ross T.:Thanks Bob! 10:59am Listener Bop Monroe:thnx Bob! 10:59am Pauly from Clifton:Thanks, Bob! So great to hear you on Saturdays!
