Good morning Cooh John. Relaxing vibes is what we got.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08am Jeffrey Davison:

By the way, reggae giant Toots Hibbert has passed. R.I.P.

  6:10am Cooh John:

Tip of the hat to Ruth. Is the program live or Memorex, Jeffrey?
Avatar 6:13am Bas NL:

Oww, how sad to hear about Toots Hibbert. Had the great pleasure to see him and the Maytals perform in a venue 200 yards from my place some five years back.. May he rest in Reggae heaven.
Avatar 6:14am duke:

Just enough light to make out the treetops. Good morning Jeffrey. Thanks for everything.
  6:53am ?:

Good morning from rainy/sunny/rainy Glasgow. Got the show on in the book shop again today, so looking forward to a tidal wave of (masked) Planeteers coming through the doors.

32 false endings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56am zivilars:

@Jeffrey: lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05am zivilars:

Is the new schedule already online somewhere on WFMU.org or do we have to wait until Monday? Any brand new shows, too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am zivilars:

Still sad about Bill Kelly's departure although Suzy does a damn fine rock/punk show, too ... Wish I could have them both on WFMU
  7:06am ignatatus666:

Why does the avant- ghetto keep getting booted? Boot 7 second delay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am Jeffrey Davison:

New FMU schedule: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am zivilars:

thanks for the link, Jeffrey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am zivilars:

wow, the "wildcard" show with rotating guest DJs happens ... I'm excited, thinking that this is a great idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09am Jeffrey Davison:

I don't know how the decisions are made about what shows to keep and what ones are judged expendable for any current schedule. Of course, Bill Kelly's show is amazing. Jeff Conklin's show was one of my favorites, as you listeners probably already know. Double Dip Recess seemed a newly minted classic, so sorry to see that show off the schedule for now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11am Jeffrey Davison:

Daniel Blumin's show, also...one of the deepest and most intriguing shows on this station, hosted by one of the most knowledgeable people on the staff as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am zivilars:

Bill Kelly was a special case because of COVID, I think – as he had the virus he wasn't allowed to come back to the studio, but he couldn't/wouldn't broadcast from home either and now it seems as if he won't come back at all – a real shame, "Teenage Wasteland" was one of my very favourite shows and introduced me to WFMU ... But well - thing change, I guess. At least, Suzy also does an AMAZING show, but there would be room for both, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14am zivilars:

Re-subscribed to Sirius XM from Germany (with a lot of "illegal" tricks just to be able to give them my money) only to be able to still listen to Bill's other show on the Underground Garage
  7:16am Listener Bop Monroe:

greetings from sunrise-y Tannersville DJ JD.
nice and contemplative undulating tones for my toast and tea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am Jeffrey Davison:

Suzy Hotrod...great show, and a lovely person too. I don't know all the details regarding Bill Kelly, and certainly broadcasting from home isn't so much fun, but just fyi, none of the DJs who are not part of paid staff are allowed back in the building at 43 Montgomery. Kelly wasn't singled out in this regard. It was deemed too difficult a task to keep the building clean with a hundred people a week coming and going, even if we didn't have live sessions with musicians or other guests.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Bop Monroe, and thanks!
zivilars, you sly dog, you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21am zivilars:

@Jeffrey: Yeah, I don't know the exact details around the end of "Teenage Wasteland", of course – all I know for sure is that the COVID situation had something to do with it, and for that alone you already have to hate this virus :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am zivilars:

But good things go and other good things come ... And who knows, maybe there still will be a Teenage Wasteland comeback next year or so ... I'll keep on hoping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23am zivilars:

I archived all the old shows on my hard drive, so even if the apocalypse eats the WFMU online archive, I'm safe :)
  7:23am Listener Bop Monroe:

i used to love when he'd read stories from the Weekly World News.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26am Jeffrey Davison:

Kelly maintains a youthful energy and sense of humor. Inspiring. What a mischievous sprite he is!
Avatar 7:29am Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hi Jeffrey, and listeners!
been listening since the beginning while being busy, I just sat down 5 minutes ago, slice of chocolate cake in hand... I almost choke on my bite hearing the first notes :) Thank you <3
  7:33am Ted in Montclair:

Good morning Jeffrey et al. One more week. No news, just happy to be here. Hope everybody’s well.
Avatar 7:34am Fredericks:

I like this edgy ambient music, Jeffrey. Bipolar, indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Sylvia, and you're welcome!
Good morning, Ted! Welcome aboard. All is well with me.
Good morning Fredericks, and thanks!
Avatar 7:40am deborah:

Good Morning WFMUniverse!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning deborah!
Avatar 7:42am Sylvia (France-NYC):

little context if I may: this track, eleven:eleven, was composed for one of The Dark Outside special broadcasts. It usually takes place in a forest in the UK, but had to go online under covid, www.darkoutside.co.uk Next Dark Outside will air on Sept 26th, within the Aerial Festival aerialfestival.com
Avatar 7:47am Sylvia (France-NYC):

The Dark Outside concept: a 24h broadcast of never-heard before music and sounds. No reruns, no archives, and you have to be within range of the FM signal (no streaming!). Anybody can send tracks. Famous, non famous, under the name of your choice. It's been very fun listening to it online, and so many artists to discover
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am Jeffrey Davison:

Sylvia, thanks for the information. The Dark Outside thing sounds fascinating. Very not-21st Century.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54am melinda:

Morning Jeffrey and planeters
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning melinda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01am melinda:

Glad to see you’re on the new schedule J, I was sad to hear last night on Daniel Blumin’s show that it would be his last.
  8:03am ignatatus666:

I’m hurt!!
No more Double Dip recess. The only family show on FMU unless you consider the old Codger family fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks melinda. For sure Daniel will be back. That's such a great show.
Ignatatus666, I'm with you. As I said earlier, DDR seemed like an instant classic here on WFMU. Lots of people missed Bob Brainen, however. A show for kids does seem like something that we ought to have, though, no doubt.
  8:08am ignatatus666:

And I forgot to wish Daniel well!! I feel like a crumb :( but I was at work hustling and enjoying the music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10am Jeffrey Davison:

ignatatus666, drop Daniel an email through his playlist pages.
  8:13am ignatatus666:

Will do that
Thank you
  8:16am P-90:

If I may: When I saw DDR on hiatus on the new schedule, my first thought was that since Amanda has been absent due to her long COVID recovery, DDR wasn’t really running at full strength anyway, and that may have figured into the decision to give DDR a break, and thereby also take the opportunity to give a nod to those clamoring for Brainen to take another turn.
  8:16am P-90:

Just a thought. Hi Jeffrey.
  8:22am P-90:

“It’s Memorex, Baby!” could be a hot catchphrase for the quarantine generation...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am Jeffrey Davison:

P-90, I suppose it's a possibility, for sure, but once a show has a head of steam, it seems like a good idea to let it run, to continue to build an audience. As I said earlier, I'm not privy to these decisions, and they can't be easy ones to make.
And re: Memorex, it will mean nothing to many!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am muckgeist:

this tone is a perfect octave down from the electric toothbrush vibrating my skull
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am muckgeist:

and it's a beautiful thing to hear
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am Jeffrey Davison:

muckgeist, ha! Anything to keep the DJ from droning on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am LynnsBrother:

Good mornin'. Just noticed the Prayer flags picture. Thanks for the colors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41am Jeffrey Davison:

LynnsBrother, good morning! I just put the picture up...meant to do so earlier. Photographed in Greenpoint.
Avatar 8:42am Sylvia (France-NYC):

this set is great, Jeffrey
Avatar 8:43am Sem:

Listening along, enoying the show, Jeffrey, and Ruth (ITB).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks Sylvia!
Welcome, Sem, and thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am PaulRobeson1920:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am Jeffrey Davison:

PaulRobeson 1920, good morning, and thanks!
  8:53am Mandy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am Jeffrey Davison:

Mandy, good morning, and thanks so much. I love doing radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am Andrew in Toronto:

Great show, as always.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks Andrew and Sylvia!
Avatar 8:58am Really Lisa:

Thank you, Jeffrey.
Peace and safe weekend, all.
Avatar 8:58am deborah:

Could do without some of the shows that are not on the schedule. Glad to see BB return. Wish Erwin was back. Glad you are here, Jeffrey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58am PaulRobeson1920:

Dentist Of Horses. Nice name
Avatar 8:59am Bas NL:

Thank you Jeffrey! Great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks deborah. You'll have to get your dose of Irwin via the Old Codger.
Avatar 8:59am deborah:

Doesn't work for me. SIgh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:59am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks a lot, Bas and Lisa!
Avatar 8:59am Ruth Booth:

Have a great day all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00am PaulRobeson1920:

Good stuff! Many thanks Ya’ll
  9:00am P-90:

Thanks, Jeffrey. You’re an indispensable fact of life in the Saturday sunrise hours, grateful to see you’ll be here on the new schedule.
  9:00am Jeffrey Davison:

deborah, yeah...it's a completely different show.
  9:01am Jeffrey Davison:

Thanks PaulRobeson 1920 and P-90!
Thanks again Ruth!
  9:05am P-90:

I’m weeping in my muesli for the last show (of the current run) of DDR. But doing the show for a while in the Sheena stream is a great idea!
