Today is a bittersweet day. I am bummed that DDR is leaving it's 9:00am - 11:00am slot, but I am ecstatic that Bob Brainen is returning to his old slot. If anything, my options are going to be more difficult: Bob on the main station, or DDR in the Jungle Room? Choices, choices, choices (lol).

It's great that people who want to listen to Roger and Amanda can, and that people who want to listen to Bob B also can. I'm a big fan of both, and the whole station in general. I'll be listening to Bob in that slot because he's on the radio, and I am a BIG fan of radio. That being said, I really don't get the idea of separate "streams". They compete w each other and the real radio. Sorry , I know its probably personal preference and allows for more options, but I don't get how FMU, as radio station can have shows competing w each other for our attention.

Gaylord Fields:

@JG: WFMU wants people to listen to WFMU. Let's say there are no alternate streams, then your choice is either the show currently on, or go somewhere else if you don't care for that show. With broadcast and three streams, there a greater chance you'll carry on listening to some WFMU program. I can't see this as not good, except in a FOMO way — and there are archives that can help with that.

Handy Haversack:

I need to rewatch Withnail and I this week since it's the theme for the football pool I admin. Need to nail down some scenes for the weekly e-mails.

I do feel we're losing some special voices with this sched. change, voices that broadened the WFMU footprint in important ways. Roger and Amanda, Daniel Blumin, and especially Keilidh. I am going to *really* miss Hts from the Crypt. Keilidh is super good, and I was always proud to support her voice having a way to get out in the world.

Not a huge fan, not offended. I can totally understand. Also, like Nick Cave, he's been around forever so there's also the possibility that different periods appeal to different people.

@ Gaylord, You are right. For me it is the Fear Of Missing Out factor, but I would put it another way. When I'm listening to "the" station, its a communal experience. Another way to look at it is that WFMU would literally not survive if it wasn't for the streams. There's waaaaaaay too much competition for any potential listeners' time in 2020 than there was even in 2000.
