Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:10am YETI BOB:

Sadly I'll be missing most of the show today - Mrs Yeti and I are going to try taking our kayak out on the Kankakee River. This is delighful music for packing up and getting ready.

I have a cocktail napkin that Dave Brubeck signed to my parents. I keep it in a frame. Take Five overshadows his other extensive work.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:17am YETI BOB:

I love the piano because you can make so much sound with it, nice thick chords, one of the best instruments for playing solo. But I hate the piano because it forces you into equal temperment, no alternate tunings, bending notes, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am dale:

can marvin hamlisch be far away?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Pedro in Arlington:

Endorsing the idea of leaving the radio on all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am dale:

lionel ritchie could sing three times a lady over this and it would make sense.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:25am YETI BOB:

@Webhamster Henry: Thanks for sharing, I'll listen later! I know some composers have written for retuned pianos (eg Lou Harrison). But it's a lot of work to retune a piano, beyond the reach of most players. (And of course with digital keyboards you can tune them however you like, but that's a different beast)
  9:25am Colleen:

This is fantastic....
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:25am Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, Joe. I trust you'll someday put together a show with an accordion opening set for us.

Anyone re all whether Emerson Lake and Palmer credited these guys for this arrangement?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:29am Krys O.:

Aw, Keith Emerson was a cool dude. He had a sad end.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:29am Brian in UK:

Joanna, rhyming slang for pianner. Popular in the early Twentieth century when it was ubiquitous in many homes. Rarely heard these days because wireless receiving apparatus has killed all forms of self-entertainment.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:29am Ken From Hyde Park:

Haha ... can't wait, Joe. Can someone dial up the Old Codger? What's his number again? It falls somewhere between "5" and "7," as I recall.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:30am G:

@Krys. Yup. Had already had surgery back in the 90s, and his hands were going :-(
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:30am YETI BOB:

@HH: Yeah, we're going to try some non-urban kayaking for a change. I've never been to this stretch of river but it's supposed to have some limestone cliffs and wildlife. About an hour out of the city. We're planning to park a bicycle downstream, then drive back upstream and launch ourselves. Will report back!
