Being a stupid, myopic kid, it seemed like a huge imposition & very uncool, even if the dancing and physicality was, in spite of my dullard teen tendencies, pretty incredible. If I’d only known Louis Jordan recognized and celebrated it back then—I might have gone in w a better mind set.
