while i'm begging: can anyone recommend software for a total novie to attempt to make a mashup? i'm familiar with linear digital video and audio editing, but i'd probably just use Ardour or garageband, not knowing any better (and too lazy to research and evaluate much (if anything)) </begging>

You could probably play with (free) Audacity. It has multitrack and pitch bending capabilities. But yes, similarly, Reaper is awesome.
