	♥ 8/21 1:47pm Candy-O'67: Angie, yes, Galveston Island. Gulf of Mexico is an ocean. The waves do come in, but they aren't huge waves like the Atlantic or Pacific. The water is very warm in the summer also, hence breading ground for hurricanes! LOL I live in Austin now and we have lots of beautiful cold rivers, swimming holes and lakes to swim in. It's actually very refreshing and nice! People do a lot of tubing down the rivers here in the cold water. The water is clean and clear in all of these small rivers and they are really nice all summer long! Not sure if you got to experience that when you visited Austin. Beaches are hot enough in late spring or early fall still :)
	♥ 8/21 1:50pm Candy-O'67: The tubing is very popular on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, which is near San Antonio, about 45 minutes from Austin, the blanco river in San Marcos, 30 minutes from here, and then there's Barton Springs which is local right here in Austin to float around in tubes in or Lady Bird Lake right in the middle of the city where you can kayak leisurely :)

	♥ 8/21 1:53pm Candy-O'67: Living in Houston and still fairly close to the Gulf in Austin, we get lots of great seafood, too! We are just about 3 hours from any TX beach here by car.
