He played a few years back at the Old Town School of Folk Music, in the smaller theater. After the show he invited the entire audience to come visit him at his family home in India, in Kolkata IIRC. And Subhashish was there too, grinning the whole time he played.

I like classical Indian dance too, but I'm mainly interested in contemporary dance (the bharatanatyam base instead of western classical is fascinating). Sadly, it isn't accepted at all here, so these shows just don't happen anymore. I miss Padmini Chettur

I've been listening to Indian music for a long time (mostly through the Indian music program on WKCR). I was lucky enough to once hear Ravi Shankar live. But there my knowledge ends. I only know "gee that sounds nice." Don't sell yourself short, Bryce.
