Various Artists  Side 1   Favoriting The Story of Mickey and the Beanstalk  LP  By Request The Clock Strikes Midnight presents a collection of Disney records. Regardless of how you feel about Disney Studios right now, you can’t deny that it’s been a huge part of our lives, and our world culture and history. The Mickey and the Beanstalk record I’m about to play was recently found by my Dad in a stash of childhood records while cleaning out his garage. My name is written in pen on the cover in child’s handwriting, but I also saw that of my Eldest Brother, written in Pencil. Showing him the record a few days ago, it immediately took him back to my family’s first home in Sandy, Utah before I was born. And he said that it brought back some of his earliest memories. My father had a turn table in the basement where he would play this, his favorite record. Only whenever the giant entered the story, he remembered being scared and would run into another room. I too have many memories of this record with my elder brother, especially hearing him try to imitate lines in the voices of Goofy or Donald Duck, particularly from the song "Eat Until I Die", which was my favorite part. I love vintage Disney. And even though, I don’t really follow much of what Disney does today, the memories that these records and films gave me growing up are priceless. Most of the following records are from my own childhood collection.

This was given to me by my parents one Christmas, inside the sleeve of a thrift store copy of Lady and the Tramp. My first lesson of always check the record inside when thrifting. I was very surprised when I played it and loved it though.

This cant be as innocent as it seems. Knowing Herk Hilligoss, a deranged Mickey Mouse with an axe is goin to burst into the date night dance.

Hi Herk. Hope Ethel Merman didn't chase everyone away. It's okay, she's sleeping now, come out for date night!

I hear what you're sayin about contemporary Disney, BC. Trader Sam's at Disneyland is a great tiki bar, well worth a visit, and they have some cool collectible mugs, and, er...that's all I got.

I am sure this record was in one of the many waves of thrift store deposits from the garage after I left home, probably in the same wave as my Star Wars toys and Micronauts and other albums.
