Various Artists  Side 1   Options The Story of Mickey and the Beanstalk  LP  By Request The Clock Strikes Midnight presents a collection of Disney records. Regardless of how you feel about Disney Studios right now, you can’t deny that it’s been a huge part of our lives, and our world culture and history. The Mickey and the Beanstalk record I’m about to play was recently found by my Dad in a stash of childhood records while cleaning out his garage. My name is written in pen on the cover in child’s handwriting, but I also saw that of my Eldest Brother, written in Pencil. Showing him the record a few days ago, it immediately took him back to my family’s first home in Sandy, Utah before I was born. And he said that it brought back some of his earliest memories. My father had a turn table in the basement where he would play this, his favorite record. Only whenever the giant entered the story, he remembered being scared and would run into another room. I too have many memories of this record with my elder brother, especially hearing him try to imitate lines in the voices of Goofy or Donald Duck, particularly from the song "Eat Until I Die", which was my favorite part. I love vintage Disney. And even though, I don’t really follow much of what Disney does today, the memories that these records and films gave me growing up are priceless. Most of the following records are from my own childhood collection.

Welcome to Date Night!
Avatar 3:03pm Mr Fab:

This cant be as innocent as it seems. Knowing Herk Hilligoss, a deranged Mickey Mouse with an axe is goin to burst into the date night dance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Herk. Hope Ethel Merman didn't chase everyone away. It's okay, she's sleeping now, come out for date night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Otis Fodder:

Donald Duck is making me crack up.
Avatar 3:06pm Mr Fab:

Donald's freakin! Who gave him the brown acid?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Otis Fodder:

There's that axe!!
Avatar 3:07pm Mr Fab:

See, i KNEW it!
Avatar 3:09pm Mr Fab:

I hear what you're sayin about contemporary Disney, BC. Trader Sam's at Disneyland is a great tiki bar, well worth a visit, and they have some cool collectible mugs, and, er...that's all I got.
Avatar 3:09pm solo mon:

Goofys gonna eat til he dies, how very American
Avatar 3:09pm BC Sterrett:

My childhood record has seen better days

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Otis Fodder:

That's Goofy, supersizing frying more bacon.
Avatar 3:11pm Sonderangebot:

Why am I so creeped out?
Avatar 3:11pm Rush-Shell:

Ha! Now I'm always going to think of bacon when I hear a crackling record!
Avatar 3:11pm solo mon:

Sexy quaalude harp voice
Avatar 3:13pm Rush-Shell:

  3:13pm Martinibomb:

  3:13pm Martinibomb:

Tape repairs by my mom probably
Avatar 3:17pm solo mon:

Mickey can’t do anything without going “ Oh oh Oh oH oh”
Avatar 3:17pm BC Sterrett:

That sneeze gets used a lot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Otis Fodder:

I am sure this record was in one of the many waves of thrift store deposits from the garage after I left home, probably in the same wave as my Star Wars toys and Micronauts and other albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Otis Fodder:

It's cool that THIS is your childhood copy BC!
Avatar 3:19pm Sem:

Greets, listening in from a sauna called Nova Scotia.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Otis Fodder:

Another childhood classic for all-year round!
Avatar 3:21pm Mr Fab:

The Thrilling Chilling Sounds of the Haunted House! Oh yeah, played the holy heck out of this one, too. I like the glitchy cut-up mix of this copy, tho, haha.
Avatar 3:23pm solo mon:

Sizzling bacon in a haunted house
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Otis Fodder:

There's some therapy that's gonna be needed after this Date night at Disneyland!
Avatar 3:23pm solo mon:

Avatar 3:24pm Mr Fab:

Avatar 3:26pm Mr Fab:

She can't do the sum. Math is hard.
Avatar 3:26pm BC Sterrett:

You're right! That wasn't Annette someone else stepping in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Otis Fodder:

Haunted House + the tone at the end of Soft Cell's Tainted Love 12" were one of the first things I scratched on my old stereo in the early 80s switching from phono to aux.
Avatar 3:27pm Rush-Shell:

Love pink elephants!
Avatar 3:28pm Cp304:

Wow it’s been a minute since I heard or seen this one.
Avatar 3:29pm Mr Fab:

Saw this with my daughter few years ago. Man, this scene..."psychedelic" doesn't begin to cover it.
Avatar 3:30pm Rush-Shell:

Always reminded me of bubble gum!
Avatar 3:30pm BC Sterrett:

I loved all the different shaped bubbles
Avatar 3:31pm Rush-Shell:

Hefalumps and Woozels on Winne the Pooh is another good one. But Pink elephants is best!
Avatar 3:33pm solo mon:

The winne the Pooh ride at Disneyland interprets that crazy scene pretty well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Otis Fodder:

Therapist to Otis: "You say you keep hearing the frying of bacon and screams, while there is no bacon frying. Screams however."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Otis Fodder:

I wish there was an entire LP of just Shaggy singing solo. Top 16 hits sung by Shaggy!
Avatar 3:35pm solo mon:

The screams are coming... from inside your mouth!!
Avatar 3:36pm BC Sterrett:

This track is making me want to quote Fred Lane: "Mystic Tune"
Avatar 3:36pm solo mon:

Cats are tripping out to the saw sounds
Avatar 3:37pm Cp304:

@ Fab, I remember seeing that as kid and think mom still has record in her wicker basket, but I can’t remember if that was Disney or Wb toon or movie
Avatar 3:39pm BC Sterrett:

I'd play this chicken song over and over
Avatar 3:40pm solo mon:

Ba kiiiirk
Avatar 3:41pm Rush-Shell:

Oh I love this!
Avatar 3:44pm Cp304:

@Otis, have you recovered the weekend? I grabbed my deodorant this morning ( brand andalou) what’s the first thing you think I thunk?
Avatar 3:45pm Rush-Shell:

Love Thurl Ravenscroft! No voice like his!
Avatar 3:47pm solo mon:

Cp304 LoL
Avatar 3:47pm BC Sterrett:

Nothing like hearing yourself get eaten on a record
Avatar 3:48pm solo mon:
